Race cars aren't the same as production cars anyway. They may have a different engine and chassis. A Top Gear lap unironically gives us more information about how fast a production car is than Le Mans that only shows race cars. A race that actually tells us something about production cars would be one that only allows production cars with minor changes, especially changed that make cars safer.

Being a winner is a mentality and it applies to all aspects of life. When you're buying cars that don't have motorsport pedigree, you're buying cars from losers. They will be objectively worse than the cars made by the winners.
