>when your favorite car youtuber starts posting about how old cars are better
>>28829562And slower
>>28829563Before slower cars were more reliable. Power + Reliability + Price always remains constant and conserved within known technological engineering and manufacturing constraints. Newer cars have shifted from focusing on reliability to increase profit margins so slower cars are now less reliable and produced cheaper to increase profit. Also less reliable cars mean people will be less likely to buy used cars and push more sales to new cars.
>>28829592Now more powerful cars are more reliableEngines with more power are less stressed in their lives than high strung small turbocharged engines The Chevy corvette stingray is probably 10x more reliable than a Chevy trax
>>28829562they are better
>>28829562>>28829671Even if they are better, why does the youtuber present it as if its some unpopular opinion>vgh im about to say something really controversial, but i just think the old cars are better
>>28829670EVs and anything with electric components, built in cameras, infotainment, fuel injection instead of a carburetor, is less reliable by default. Our reliable cars were built in the 50s and 60s. Japan stopped making them reliable in the late 90s.
>>28829677because they like to think they're independent thinkers
>>28829670>than a Chevy traxanything is more reliable than that 1.2l turbo pile of shit. Those things eat turbos every 50k because the oil feed line has the inner diameter of a human hair and clogs.
>>28829677because for fucking decades it WASN'T like thatfucking dumbass shithead zoomer
>>28829677Because if you say something with confidence you have fleets of autists doxxing you because you have said something they disagree with or in this case disrespected their purchase of a modern vehicle.
>>28829670Being at least twice the price probably has a little bit to do with it as well. If I was a boomer I would be pissed as hell if my shiny new vette I paid 100 grand for blew up at 50k miles
>>28829683you’re retarded. “unreliable” oughts cars regularly do 300k with all major components original when 50s cars were lucky to hit 150 on the second tranny
>>28829889Those older cars were simpler, thus easier and cheaper to diagnose problems earlier and fix and maintain as they age. Newer cars are far more complex, require more complicated components that aren't cheap or easy or replace making it more costly to repair as cars age and those components begin to fail. Especially digital components involving computer chips and electronics that completely fail if once any one small component fails. Older cars with analog and mechanical components, when those begin to fail, rather than catastrophically fail instantly, they degrade over time.
