What would be cheaper:
-2nd gen CRX with B-series swap
- C5 corvette

Probably the corvette, would you be doing the swap?
>>
>>28830327
In this hypothetical, yes. I've had my feelers out for a CRX for the last about 5 years. I see totaled ones with significant body damage sell at copart for $2000+. I also owned a turbo B16a swapped eg hatch back in the day that I absolutely loved. A turbo B-series CRX is a dream car for me. It's not that I can't afford it. I'd just feel retarted to spend corvette money on a CRX build, so it'll probably never happen.

Rexies are cool, but they're just too damn overrated. I've yet to see someone show some love to the EJ coupes, they would be so good with a proper B16 swap. They're also pretty light, not much heavier than a hatch.

Should I go ahead and buy a 2025MY this Memorial Day or just wait? I head they're pretty much selling for MSRP now.

The issue with these cars now is that everything you might need for them is expensive because its specific to the crx
Unironically one of the most expensive hondas you can buy
Id say if you actually want one you should do it, who cares if its cheaper to buy something else when its not what youve been wanting for years.
>>
>>28830352
Depends on whether you will get a good deal on a MY2025 or not since MY2026 cars will he hitting the lots soon. I don't think there will be many changes like on the FK8 facelift.
I'm still waiting for a second hand MY2023 to drop below 60k because it's really hard to justify 100k on a civic thanks to tax laws. Benefit is that these are very rare in my country.

From what I've read, the CTR and ITS are both getting a facelift for the US market in 2026, but the CTR is not going to be sold in Europe or Japan after this year due to emissions faggotry. It's still going to be made in Japan as far as I know, but factory new Type Rs won't be sent to dealerships there after this spring. This is why 2025 is still the current model year for the CTR on Honda's website. The Japanese plant is trying to fulfill all of their domestic orders before the legal deadline for emissions compliance in May. The CTR is more or less getting replaced with the Prelude for the JDM after that for the time being (the Prelude already cannibalizes some of the components from CTR production as it is). The MSRP for the CTR in the US will increase from $47k to about $48k for the 2026MY due to the facelift and tariffs. Presumably the CTR will continue to be sold in the USA for the remaining lifetime of the 11th Generation Civic, but it won't be a true "JDM" after MY2025.
>>
>>28830643
Wait, the fuck? Theyre banning it in Japan due to emissions? But it's less grams of CO2/km than a GR Yaris or 86. What the fuck? Is it some kind of fleet emissions thing bullshit?

I’m not sure but I think it also has something to do with exhaust noise and/or horsepower. Japan is pretty much banning new sports cars that are pure ICE and not hybrids.

I’m in a similar position. Lease is up on my current car in June. Apparently the refresh is for 27, not 26. There’s a 25 CW below MSRP at the dealer a couple miles away…
>>
>>28831675
They basically plan to do that in Europe later this year, all in the name of safety. It's why so many fun cars are gone. Like why the fuck would you put a face cam that detects attention loss/dozing off in a GR86? This also makes the car more expensive but politicians wont care because they get driven around, get exceptions or use state funds for their 100k mercs. Honestly at least I'm happy that in Europe most cars dont come with baked in telemetry that sells your driving habits straight to car insurance.
I heard that in the US 2027/2028 models will have a government mandated kill switch which is honestly scary. At that point you don't own the car anymore.

Got a new-for-me 2018 accord 2.0t. 90k on the odo.
Love it to death so far but its transmission is fucking ROUGH first thing in the morning. Downshifting to around 40k throws anything on my passenger seat forward to the ground. Sorts itself out about 10min into the drive. Stays in a garage so shouldn't be too too cold.
Known issue or something I can hopefully sort out with a drain and fill on the transmission fluid? I'm new to this shit.
>>
>>28832174
I've never had any crazy downshifting but my old 5 speed auto does shift a little more abruptly when fluid is cold before becoming super smooth when it gets warm, doing a drain and fill is definitely a good idea on a car you've just gotten, I make it a point to do a drain and fill every year to keep everything clean and I haven't had any problems.

Honda Civic EX 2014, I am sole owner, 10 Year mark 45k miles. I barely drive my car as is so far i have done.
Oil changes every 5k miles & tire rotations
Transmission fluid change at 35k miles
brakes/rotors at 40k
New tires at 40k
Windshield wiper rubber every 20k miles
New spark plugs at 40k just because it's easy/cheap to put in NGK plugs
A K&N short ram intake for the lolz

I am going to do coolant flush/brake fluid change at 50k miles.
Is there anything i am missing for preventative maintenance?

A dealer near me has two boost blues for below MSRP. I'm really tempted even though I'd prefer RR or CW. Blue kind of clashes with the red interior and accents.

Yeah, kind of a dumb design choice. Would love a blue accented interior option to go with it.
>>
>>28832771
Boost blue looks a lot better on the new Prelude with the two-tone B&W interior. Any CTR would look a lot better with a color matched rear wing. The black OEM wing and huge wheels that seem to be standard equipment on everything nowadays are the only two things I hate about the FL5.
>>
>>28832787

I like the way that sounds, I was a sucker for Ferd's Grabber Blue, but I like Honda's slightly darker blue, Acura's got that similar Apex Blue pearl and it's absolutely gorgeous on a TLX Type S.

Can't find any guide on where this thing is so figured I'd ask here.
Does anybody know where the telematics unit is in the 11th gen Civics? Only post I found was it's supposed to be under the cover behind the radio, but I lifted that up and there was nothing there.
I had to sign some stupid thing at the stealership stating that I waived my "right to repair" on this particular component or they wouldn't sell me the car, so I know it's in there, but I cannot find it and for obvious reasons I want it gone.

I think only the Sport Touring, Si, and Type R have a TCU, which is behind the infotainment system.
If you have the lower end models without the android based infotainment system, there is no TCU since there's no cellular modem to transmit the data.
https://youtu.be/vAgJXj1IK64?si=NE71haAZ6YqG11aS&t=164
>>
>>28833044
I re-read the notice I had to sign and it seems it's just a boilerplate thing stealerships make everybody in my state sign.
It actually says they have to give me or a mechanic all the data in the telematics unit (which it still claims my car, the Civic Hybrid (non-touring) has) due to the "right to repair" law, not waiving it.
Looking further into it, it seems Honda (and Subaru too) has actually hard disabled TCUs on all their cars sold in my state as of last March so they don't need to comply with the law.
Sketchy on Honda's part (what don't they want people seeing?), but glad to see my state did something good for privacy for once. (redditors are seething because they can't remote start their Hondas/Acuras from the phone app anymore).

Powerstop while great is not a selling point. I could put in $3k coilovers, chassis stiffening mods, and a $500 Cold air intake in addition to slotted rotors and ceramic pads $300-600 and it would drop the value of the used car by $2k

Kek Z26 isn't even really a mod, but if see some nice OEM+ brake and nice tires on a TSX, that means the owner has tried to take care of it, and that TSX showed, the interior was super clean, which means some savage hasn't been destroying it with their negligence and disrespect.

>>
>>28838564
>1999 Civic CX 5-speed manual
Read the manual. Update and fix everything that looks old or is broken. Then consider turbo, coilovers, suspension, a tighter chassis, higher end brakes/rotors(within reason it's a civic). You need to consider engine internals and a tune in lieu of a turbo however. Sky is the limits for mods if you build around your needs.

I drove it all the way home from work at 60mph on the freeway blasting out thick billows of smoke from the burning oil like some kind of store brand James Bond and retards were still tailgating me.

You guys ever change lanes thinking you checked your mirrors and there was no cars for miles behind you, only to look in your mirror 2 seconds later and there's someone kissing your rear bumper? I went shopping for a civic type R yesterday.
Honda dealer near me is marking up a used 2023 CTR to 65k leaf shekels.
They also have a brand new 2025 type R upstairs in the showroom for 57k, but refuses to sell it because they want to sell it 2 years later at a higher margin.
I'm cross shopping it with an 2006 ap2 with 50k km in the same showroom, but they want 46k shekels for it which honestly seems overpriced.
I have a daily and a nd2 already so this was just going to be a third car for me to experience honda. These crazy mark up pricing is making me not want to deal with honda ever again though.
How do we deal with the jewish problem?
>>
>>28855011
I am petty aware as to how gay and retarded the moped looks, the question is whether I look less like a try hard wannabe if I were to buy a different helmet? Like imagine you’re average silverwing rider with a modular motorcycle helmet and visor. Would you not poke a little more fun at that guy for such a thing or does it not matter at this point? It just seems like overkill for a maxi scooter.

hey, any ridgeline guys here?
i recently bought a 2022.
i have a few issues with it... modern car shit.
the projector headlights. they fucking suck. the sharp cutoff has zero shine above them. i need to drive with brights on most of the time. i got a few hills near me and going up or down, zero visibility above the cut off and it sweeps the road a lot. terrible design.

can i retrofit non projector headlight assemblies back in? i can only find full led headlamps on ebay
ebay does sells EU spec rear taillights, i want amber rear turn signals. hopefully the quality isnt utter shit
I bought the last set of Centrics from rockauto.
along with brakes all fluids will be changed, and oil send out for analysis.
do the 2022 have audio issues? last i heard it stopped at 2021.

This gives a good idea just how long it sat. Luckily it came off with a pressure washer. Couldn't stand these wheels so I found a set of NB Miata 14s with good tires for a steal at $100. Center bore is 2mm smaller so I solved that with 6mm spacers and extended lug studs (it badly needed them anyway). I'll hopefully be driving it around next week sometime. >>
>>28867249
Good shit Anon, one of the reasons I like to take my Accord into the dealer for oil is because they do have it in the air and look at the suspension and give everything a wiggle to see if it's about to break off and kill me as well as whatever else may be in need of repair.

2005 civic coupe and the passenger door wont unlock. With the door still stuck closed, I removed the door panel (only broke some door clips which is fine), and it looks like both the outside key lock and the inside lock tab aren't the problem, but the actual mechanism at the latch. How do I open the door? Just spray a bunch of wd40 and force that latch? I can't find a single video or forum post about this, and I CANNOT be the only person in the world to have this happen.

It's hard to get my phone in there for a pic but this is the same part. The red circle is where the inside door handle rod connects to. The orange circle is the outside door handle. Both of them work no problem once the rods are disconnected from the latch. The green circle is where the rod for the outside key lock cylinder attaches to. The lock itself works perfectly fine when disconnected. Another thing I forgot to circle is just under the red circle is where the inside lock tab cable attaches to, you can see the bracket for it and the round hole where the end goes into. Basically neither the bottom thing where the orange arrows are or the interior lock will move all the way to the unlock position. It locks all the way, but unlocks only halfway if that makes sense.
>>
>>28867454
What happens if you wiggle the opening mechanism and the locking mechanism at the same time? Are they moving together or are they just completely siezed?
>>
>>28867523
Opening mechanism is moving perfectly fine, the locking mechanism is not moving all the way open, it stops maybe an 1/8" away from the tab (orange arrow) in the unlock direction. I want to try forcing that lock mechanism circled in green all the way and maybe it'll pop but I'm worried that too much force will break it and I'll never open that door again.
>>
>>28867559
Try wiggling the mechanism and the key in the cylinder at the same time, there might be a misaligned pin or something

More progress on the $350 Civic.

>have a supercharger like whine while the car is running
>friend sends video to a mekanik friend and he said it sounds like the timing belt
>turn it by hand and recreate the sound
>Gate T223, it's the wrong belt (this is only for the EG VX trim engine
>get the proper T224 at local orly
>noise vanishes and it sounds perfect

Would've been a total failure if I didn't change that. Also removed all the crumbling bits of the door cards and put them back on the door with the 6.5" Kenwood speakers I salvaged from the EG8.

So true, I was dropping a car off for diag and my middle eastern uber had a newish prius with completely shot rear wheel bearings roaring loudly and over 321,000km on it because they're such good slave cars to move people and goods, also short form social media content could be blamed as well, you've got these tik tokers that pump out video after video about how Hondas and Toyotas are the end all that never break or need anything (they absolutely do), and all it does is drive the price up even on the ones that might be junk.

I recently developed a squeaking noise when applying brakes on my 06 accord. The brake fluid is only 6 months old.
Do you think it is the master cylinder or the pedal bracket?
Now imagine somehow the brake pedal assembly got splashed multiple times somehow magically. Would you re grease any friction points before making any other decisions?
>>
>>28868952
How is the pad wear? There's a little metal tab that hits the rotor and makes a squeak when the pads are to low, either that or the slides need lubing, otherwise if the cars brakes are working and there's pad material, the brakes are technically working normally.
>>
>>28868957
All 4 pads and rotors are new and all the slide pins were greased by me
This is an interior sort of squeak. I had a similar squeak on my clutch pedal and did replace the pedal assembly. It was a pain in the qss, if there were any assembly grease points if love to try that before changing parts.
I actually have a new (used) pedal assembly in my garage after doing the clutch so changing it out will be nothing more than a lot of physical discomfort.
>>
>>28868972
Yeah it's probably the pedal squeaking due to age, I'm surprised my 2004 Accord doesn't have a pedal squeak, but often with manual Hondas you can hear the pedal squeak, and I once saw the clutch pedal of a million mile 2003 Accord shear off due to how much it was used, so it's probably something you can live with until you feel like fixing, my outer door handle squeaks when I get in nowadays cause the car is so old but I just ignore it.
>>
The muffler on my 2007 Civic rusted off the car. My mechanic friend says there's no way to reattach it, and he thinks the excessive rust is a problem best solved with a new car.

I'm thinking of buying a 2011Honda Accord LX. 129k miles, 7,700 USD. Has an I4 2.4L engine, carfax says it's never been in an accident and, while missing a few oil changes, relatively well maintained.

What I'm looking for is basically a civic with more room. I'm a tall guy and my legs hurt from scouching towards the pedals. I am planning to move soon, so I would hope that it can carry my reptile tanks, the bigger one a 4x2x2 glass terrerium. What do you think? Should I even bother buying a new car?

Hell yeah anon, Accords are basically Civics for tall people, that or any Civic 2016 onward because they became truly midsized cars and can also fit tall people, the 2007 Civic was in the era where the Civic was still a pretty small car.

Clutch pedal squeak could also be a worn out master cylinder.

Have you considered a CRV? Same engine, but even more headroom.

Damn Anon, you might be right, maybe he does have some sort of a brake booster leak or something going on with the cylinder

New clutch, flywheel, slave, and master so I knew it was the pedal.
The clutch pedal assemblies are known to be weak. Some people weld reinforcement.
I didn't know if it was just an early 00s Honda thing

Brake feel is still good and the old fluid I replaced last spring looked pretty clean.
As I said the pedal assembly may have gotten splashed with water so I guess I'll just check the manual for grease points.

You probably might just need grease, I regularly take a little bit of motor oil and lubricate the door checks on my Accord so that it doesn't get that old car creak when you open the door.

Terrible luck when it comes to life, but just good enough luckfor decent Hondas to fall into my lap. lmao

Doing the bare minimum to get audio in this thing for now. Ultimate goal is the Android tablet unit like I have in the TSX but for now I grabbed the $35 Boss bluetooth unit. It sounds fucking awful but that's probably because it has no rear deck 6x9s, just the door 6.5s.

Update on that tank as well. 275k get. The K24 has been the easiest engine of my life to maintain. Just a valve cover gasket and spark plugs for the last 30,000 miles. Gets nothing but 5w-30 Valvoline Restore and Protect oil and OEM filters off the Walmart shelf.

Based K series, It's pretty much the pinnacle of daily driven Honda engines at being so easy to live with, my stupid CM is currently dripping a little from the VTEC solenoid again, but I'll fix it when I fix it, it just runs, I don't warm it up, I feed it shit gas, it doesn't care.

Yeah the VTC rattle hasn't even gotten worse in the 30k I've driven it. Haven't checked for any leaks or anything though. I just got finished sorting all the suspension out last month. Latest major issue is the AC compressor. Luckily based Aisin released a compressor for this car in October.

275K is a huge life out of that, my CM had the A/C only cool on one side of the car, and then when you recharged it the thing was rattling, so that was a compressor job in Sept 2023, just fucking crazy how the mileage means nothing on K series, things happen with age and you just kinda fix it forever.

Actually it's a pretty new Four Seasons garbage that was bolted to the block when I bought the car. I finished the AC when I got the car and it still had the plastic plugs in the ports. It's just garbage so I'm hyped that Aisin blessed me with a new made in Japan compressor I can get soon.

Ah, damn, DENSO/AISIN or nothing for CMs and TSXs, it's the only thing that lasts.

>>28871344
It's sad watching CMs go to shit before our eyes but the loved on ones that live will be glorious.

A dirt racer, a nice executive car for cruising, what the fuck don't CL9s excel at?

Too bad ground clearance is so low. I've taken my tsx on a lot of fire roads and it is scary waiting for the scrape sounds
