What would be cheaper: -2nd gen CRX with B-series swap- C5 corvette
Please give head pats to your honders.
>>28829947Probably the corvette, would you be doing the swap?
>>28830327In this hypothetical, yes. I've had my feelers out for a CRX for the last about 5 years. I see totaled ones with significant body damage sell at copart for $2000+. I also owned a turbo B16a swapped eg hatch back in the day that I absolutely loved. A turbo B-series CRX is a dream car for me. It's not that I can't afford it. I'd just feel retarted to spend corvette money on a CRX build, so it'll probably never happen.
>>28829947>>28830332Rexies are cool, but they're just too damn overrated. I've yet to see someone show some love to the EJ coupes, they would be so good with a proper B16 swap. They're also pretty light, not much heavier than a hatch.
>was gonna buy a CTR at some point next year>find out it's getting discontinued in Japan domestic market + getting a "facelift" i.e. adding USB-C ports and increasing MSRP by $1k for 2026MYShould I go ahead and buy a 2025MY this Memorial Day or just wait? I head they're pretty much selling for MSRP now.
>>28830338>I've yet to see someone show some love to the EJ coupesUm, what? These have been modified to hell and back for 30 years now.
Why no love for the EM2?
>>28830332The issue with these cars now is that everything you might need for them is expensive because its specific to the crxUnironically one of the most expensive hondas you can buyId say if you actually want one you should do it, who cares if its cheaper to buy something else when its not what youve been wanting for years.
>>28830352Depends on whether you will get a good deal on a MY2025 or not since MY2026 cars will he hitting the lots soon. I don't think there will be many changes like on the FK8 facelift.I'm still waiting for a second hand MY2023 to drop below 60k because it's really hard to justify 100k on a civic thanks to tax laws. Benefit is that these are very rare in my country.
>>28830582From what I've read, the CTR and ITS are both getting a facelift for the US market in 2026, but the CTR is not going to be sold in Europe or Japan after this year due to emissions faggotry. It's still going to be made in Japan as far as I know, but factory new Type Rs won't be sent to dealerships there after this spring. This is why 2025 is still the current model year for the CTR on Honda's website. The Japanese plant is trying to fulfill all of their domestic orders before the legal deadline for emissions compliance in May. The CTR is more or less getting replaced with the Prelude for the JDM after that for the time being (the Prelude already cannibalizes some of the components from CTR production as it is). The MSRP for the CTR in the US will increase from $47k to about $48k for the 2026MY due to the facelift and tariffs. Presumably the CTR will continue to be sold in the USA for the remaining lifetime of the 11th Generation Civic, but it won't be a true "JDM" after MY2025.
>>28830643Wait, the fuck? Theyre banning it in Japan due to emissions? But it's less grams of CO2/km than a GR Yaris or 86. What the fuck? Is it some kind of fleet emissions thing bullshit?
I have a 2022 Ridgeline and I cannot get it to open the garage door.I followed the reset procedure, hold the first button and hold my garage door open, it flashes like it programed, but does not open the garage door.I have a Lift Master.any tips?
>>28830687I’m not sure but I think it also has something to do with exhaust noise and/or horsepower. Japan is pretty much banning new sports cars that are pure ICE and not hybrids.
Hoping that the 6-speed manual I bought off of eBay arrives this week. Finally starting to collect parts to do the swap for my 10th gen 1.5T hatchback
>>28830729That would explain why the Prelude is a hybrid. Does this mean that the GR MR2 from Toyota will also be hybrid? I'm conflicted desu.
>>28831159I'm not sure because it's hard to determine what is fact and what are just rumors. It seems confirmed that Europe will only get 40 "Ultimate Edition" FL5s before it's discontinued in that market. The Civic Type R "Final Edition" and "Black Edition" were also recently teased in Japan for their market. The US market is getting a refresh for 2026. It's expected that the next Type R will be a hybrid. I'm kind of conflicted if I should buy a 2025 CTR or wait for the refresh. Another thing to consider is that all new cars will come with more and more government-mandated spyware every year:https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/cars/news-blog/driving-dystopia-congress-still-wants-to-mandate-in-car-monitoring-45133429
>>28830352I’m in a similar position. Lease is up on my current car in June. Apparently the refresh is for 27, not 26. There’s a 25 CW below MSRP at the dealer a couple miles away…
>>28831675They basically plan to do that in Europe later this year, all in the name of safety. It's why so many fun cars are gone. Like why the fuck would you put a face cam that detects attention loss/dozing off in a GR86? This also makes the car more expensive but politicians wont care because they get driven around, get exceptions or use state funds for their 100k mercs. Honestly at least I'm happy that in Europe most cars dont come with baked in telemetry that sells your driving habits straight to car insurance. I heard that in the US 2027/2028 models will have a government mandated kill switch which is honestly scary. At that point you don't own the car anymore.https://www.verity.news/story/2026/us-effort-to-repeal-kill-switch-mandate-for-cars-fails-in-congress?p=re4264
>>28831791Yeah I wanted more time to save money before financing another car, but one of my local dealers has three CW and a SG listed at MSRP online. Seems like a good time to negotiate for a bargain if they have that many sitting in their inventory. I'm afraid dealers will hike up prices again after the refresh.
Got a new-for-me 2018 accord 2.0t. 90k on the odo.Love it to death so far but its transmission is fucking ROUGH first thing in the morning. Downshifting to around 40k throws anything on my passenger seat forward to the ground. Sorts itself out about 10min into the drive. Stays in a garage so shouldn't be too too cold.Known issue or something I can hopefully sort out with a drain and fill on the transmission fluid? I'm new to this shit.
>>28832174I've never had any crazy downshifting but my old 5 speed auto does shift a little more abruptly when fluid is cold before becoming super smooth when it gets warm, doing a drain and fill is definitely a good idea on a car you've just gotten, I make it a point to do a drain and fill every year to keep everything clean and I haven't had any problems.
>>28830361>fag-wheel drive
>>28832194Nigga you're in a Honda thread. The fuck were you expecting?
Honda Civic EX 2014, I am sole owner, 10 Year mark 45k miles. I barely drive my car as is so far i have done.Oil changes every 5k miles & tire rotationsTransmission fluid change at 35k milesbrakes/rotors at 40kNew tires at 40kWindshield wiper rubber every 20k milesNew spark plugs at 40k just because it's easy/cheap to put in NGK plugsA K&N short ram intake for the lolzI am going to do coolant flush/brake fluid change at 50k miles. Is there anything i am missing for preventative maintenance?
>>28832481>Is there anything i am missing for preventative maintenance?Cabin air filter lol
>>28832680I just wash that out since it's one of the reusable. Did that 3 months ago so might as well do it again. Thanks anon.
>>28831791A dealer near me has two boost blues for below MSRP. I'm really tempted even though I'd prefer RR or CW. Blue kind of clashes with the red interior and accents.
>>28832682Based, giving it a good rinse every oil change will make you have super strong HVAC blowing
>>28832754>Blue kind of clashes with the red interior and accentsYeah, kind of a dumb design choice. Would love a blue accented interior option to go with it.
>>28832771Boost blue looks a lot better on the new Prelude with the two-tone B&W interior. Any CTR would look a lot better with a color matched rear wing. The black OEM wing and huge wheels that seem to be standard equipment on everything nowadays are the only two things I hate about the FL5.
>>28832787>Boost blueI like the way that sounds, I was a sucker for Ferd's Grabber Blue, but I like Honda's slightly darker blue, Acura's got that similar Apex Blue pearl and it's absolutely gorgeous on a TLX Type S.
Can't find any guide on where this thing is so figured I'd ask here. Does anybody know where the telematics unit is in the 11th gen Civics? Only post I found was it's supposed to be under the cover behind the radio, but I lifted that up and there was nothing there.I had to sign some stupid thing at the stealership stating that I waived my "right to repair" on this particular component or they wouldn't sell me the car, so I know it's in there, but I cannot find it and for obvious reasons I want it gone.
Lads
>>28832887I think only the Sport Touring, Si, and Type R have a TCU, which is behind the infotainment system. If you have the lower end models without the android based infotainment system, there is no TCU since there's no cellular modem to transmit the data.https://youtu.be/vAgJXj1IK64?si=NE71haAZ6YqG11aS&t=164
>>28833044I re-read the notice I had to sign and it seems it's just a boilerplate thing stealerships make everybody in my state sign.It actually says they have to give me or a mechanic all the data in the telematics unit (which it still claims my car, the Civic Hybrid (non-touring) has) due to the "right to repair" law, not waiving it.Looking further into it, it seems Honda (and Subaru too) has actually hard disabled TCUs on all their cars sold in my state as of last March so they don't need to comply with the law. Sketchy on Honda's part (what don't they want people seeing?), but glad to see my state did something good for privacy for once. (redditors are seething because they can't remote start their Hondas/Acuras from the phone app anymore).
>>28832924Those reflections are weirdIs that an ai pic or are those acrylic windows?
>>28833279Lexan yea
Have 24 Ridgeline BE, 18 Accord 2.0 Sport, 10 Civic posI would have bought the prelude but what a disaster with that pricing
Has anyone had any luck with a stiffer chassis mod? I want to know if its worth it before spending my money.
The teehees look so good on the CV Accord
>>28834388I look and behave like this.
>>28834587
>>28834549Would be better if they were silver or bronze. Black wheels don't work on 98% of vehicles
Need motor oil recommendations for cl7 accord with k20z2 engine Previous owner used mobil super 3000 formula P 5w30 sitting at 170k km/105k miles
>>28835093Generally I just buy whatever's cheapest. If you know the car likes that particular oil, you might as well stick with it.
>get oil >dealer selling 45k mile 09 TSX with a powerstop Z26 brake kit on it>$9500Are cheap Hondas brake on the menu? thats hot, I mean its an old ass car but the mileage is pretty low.
>>28835278
>>28835279
>>28835278Powerstop while great is not a selling point. I could put in $3k coilovers, chassis stiffening mods, and a $500 Cold air intake in addition to slotted rotors and ceramic pads $300-600 and it would drop the value of the used car by $2k
>>28835327Kek Z26 isn't even really a mod, but if see some nice OEM+ brake and nice tires on a TSX, that means the owner has tried to take care of it, and that TSX showed, the interior was super clean, which means some savage hasn't been destroying it with their negligence and disrespect.
>>28835281>drilledNo.
>>28835662I personally would run regular blank rotors with Z26 pads, but those things do last really long and the temp rage is higher than a regular ceramic pad due to carbon content.
>>28835383You make a great point. However generally most people add stuff like that and end up beating the shit out of their vehicles. It is however a Acura so you might be right to think that.
>>28835922Thankfully TSX drivers are like richer Honda Accord drivers, it's adult driven, and the car costs so much when initially purchased or leased, that they can do more maintenance than a Honda Accord owner wouldn't.
>>28835662Oh my god what a sexy Accord
>>28835940Such a shame we didn't get Honda Accords powered by a Prelude engine, that would've fucked
>>288359425th gen coupes and wagons did and they were built in Marysville. Even bigger kick in the balls, you could optioned them in lhd
>>28835965The Accords had a big boi 2.2L SOHC F series, a good engine for cruising, but the H22A JDM engines were the ones that were hot, it's common to see an H22A engine bolted into a 4th or 5th gen Accord because it just goes right in like it's meant to be.
>>288359665th gen came factory with the H22A for the japanese market. 4th gen had the F20A.
anyone swap the suspension in an FL5 to a KW?
yay or nay?
>>28836328Based Forza, boost blue civics are so fucking hot
>>28836426It's starting to grow on me. I'm leaning towards buying a BB or RR since they're really eyecatching, and CW and SG seem like NPC colors (I think black is special order only). I saw a BB Civic on the highway yesterday, and it looked really nice. Pics don't really do it justice.
>>28836736lol
>>28836426>>28836501BB is a nice color but only if you can spec it with the Japanese only black interior option. Red interior with blue paint just looks so fucking bad.Imo the best colors are CW and RR. Now only if Honda offered Phoenix Yellow on the FL5.
has anybody tried this for the ek? does it actually make the cup holder useful?
>>28837085>Now only if Honda offered Phoenix Yellow on the FL5So true, I remember seeing a PY FK8 at the dealer, and the thing was already purchased becsuse it looked so good, hope the owner keeps it nice so I can see her at the shows
>>28837667I did not mean to post a picture of a cake just stead of a type r lel
irresistible urge to buy the biggest piece of shit autotragic nsx frame there is and k swap it
>>28837677That's a based swap for any mid engine car.
>>28836328I have no idea what KW is. I have 0 desire to modify it. It bothers me that the Z and GTs pull on it in third+. Maybe if I could keep all the reliability and give it 500 hp, I would.>>28836426White or black. Hell, even the yellow is better than this blue. >>28836501I have this car and I have to guess what all the color abbreviations mean, just fucking say red, blue, black, ugly weird-white (mine), etc.>>28837085> only black interior option+$10,000 and tipWe need 450hp from the factory, that only kicks in after 3rd.
>>28836501Type R is supposed to be Championship White or Phoenix Yellow. All others are wrong.
>>28837737
It's pointless to buy a cold air intake if I already have the enclosed factory intake, right? What if I were to upgrade to a 2.5" exhaust down the road? Would performance be negligible but sound better?
>>28838004Full system or just exhaust? Shave your box.
>>28838011Just exhaust from stock headers, it's a CRV. Just looking to make it a little more enjoyable to drive on a budget since I have a different project car AND saving up for another vehicle on the side so I really don't want to go crazy spending on the CRV.
>>28838020Just keep it stock then. just get better tires and skidplates for light off-roading.
>>28838025My A/Ts are loud af I planned on getting some street tires and alternating them between seasons.
why isn't there toyota general?
>>28838085They used to have it but they don't go as hard as we do at loving our cars to keep it going.
why does the break on my ridgeline sounds flooded? it breaks fine and all but sometimes it sounds flooded in the rear when i apply break pressure.
>>28837737I get that CW is ‘the’ Type R color, but I don’t think it works well with the body lines of the FL5. It looked a lot better on the FK8. White has the effect of making cars look bigger than they actually are (just like clothing). The good thing about having a white FL5 is that based Spoon makes their vented bonnet in that color.
>>28838085Goyota doesn’t make sports cars so naturally there’s not much enthusiasm for that brand.
>>28838287The Spoon S-Tai parts come unpainted. The pics on their website are misleading.
Just got my first car, 1999 Civic CX 5-speed manual. Where's a good place to start to turn it into a little ricer? My first thought is to redo the suspension, maybe a new intake?
>>28838564>1999 Civic CX 5-speed manualRead the manual. Update and fix everything that looks old or is broken. Then consider turbo, coilovers, suspension, a tighter chassis, higher end brakes/rotors(within reason it's a civic). You need to consider engine internals and a tune in lieu of a turbo however. Sky is the limits for mods if you build around your needs. https://www.manualowl.com/am/Honda/1999-Civic/Manual/6970?page=1https://www.aboutautomobile.com/Maintenance-Schedule/1999/Honda/Civic/5-Speed-Manual-CX-Hatchback
>>28838564>Where's a good place to start to turn it into a little ricer?Giant rear wing and fart can exhaust. The more obnoxious the better.
>>28838287Championship White is the best background for livery.
>>28839429Dabbing Samurai livery goes so hard
>>28838564OEM EK9 kit + Bomex wang and clear tails.
I wanna get new wheels for my ride. What color wheels would you guys recommend on a black fl5? I feel like the black OEM just disappear. I was thinking of bronze or white
>>28840325Bronze or gold. White is a bitch for brake dust.
>>28840359I know TE37s are a basic choice but they do be looking sexy
>>28840393We Honda bitches are basic afterall. That's a cool look.
I saw a gray FL5 for the first time on the road last night. It looked good and noticeably wider than a regular Civic. The exhaust was really quiet though.
>>28841193>When your SiR hubcaps go harder than a fucking 20 inch wheel made in 2025
>>28841197These go hard too on an EG
Bought an accord sport but don't know how to best make use of the sport mode. What do?
>>28841436Don't bother with the sport button Anon, just cruise around.
>>28841440But the flappy paddle gear shifters are really activating my almonds. I need to use them.
>>28841493The paddle shifters in my ILX are more of a novelty, and really only useful for downshifting into 4th to get VTEC to kick in so you can overtake idiots who hog the passing lane on the highway.
>>28841436What year/engine accord?
>>288419702015I mostly make use of the ability to downshift into 1st to slow down going downhill. I hope I'm not wrecking the CVT.
>>28841995You won't hurt that CVT Anon, I do 2nd gear engine braking downhill in my shitty old 5 speed automatic all the time and it still works as long as the fluid is never allowed to get horribly dirty.
>>28842010Great. Transmission fluid due for a change this spring. Thanks.
>>28841995IMO it's better to just let the CVT do it's thing, it's kind of dynamically weird for a CVT to engine brake down a hill like that. Definitely use the shifts for backroads though, leave it in '3rd' and rip around
Is there somewhere besides online stores where I can buy B20A cams? Everything I see is for B18 variants and apparently needs modification to fit. I'd gladly take a used one, preferably from a B20A1, but I don't see any on eBay and it's search seemed shitty. Do I need to just start calling random salvage yards or has Google really gotten this useless?
>B20AYou're sool
>>28845067Crower has ones for the B18A/B and B20A (early), supposedly Cat Cams out of Belgium has B20A cams as well
>cat camslol their website just sends you in circles
>>28846218>https://crower.com/camshafts/honda-acura/acura-1-8-rs-ls-dohc-stage-1.htmlDamn this does look like about what I'm looking for, hoping it'll work okay keeping everything else stock. Only need to replace the intake cam due to a rather nasty gouge on one lobe, but probably going to do both anyway. I've heard the B20A5 has poor duration stock, I'm happy with it now but hoping this wakes it up at higher RPMs. Thanks!
