there is a rubber stopper behind the brake pedal you can remove though you might need to unscrew the baseplate of the pedals idk

typically in most pc racing games the axes that represent the pedals sit at the minimum or maximum value, but a gamepad joystick sits in the middle of its axis at rest. so if you map a throttle pedal to a joystick function, because the pedal doesn't rest in the center, it's always either "pressing" up or down.
the way to fix this is to use "combined pedals" in the options, but that eliminates your ability to hold the gas and brake at the same time, or set up the game so that your wheel is detected as an actual wheel by gt4 and not a gamepad, so that the pedals' axes are recognized properly.

pedals in cars use pressure instead of distance traveled because for humans it is a lot easier to apply the same pressure repeatedly
with distance it's mostly guesswork and nigh impossible while driving
this becomes even more important in race cars because you want to apply the maximum amount of brake pressure without locking up the tires or activating ABS
so race cars have really stiff brake pedals because the heaver it is, the easier it is to hit certain pressure values

my sim racing zen garden is gtr2 full length races with the 2000-2009 fia gt mod, I just throw on a goypod and drive a stint, save the race and come back to it tomorrow. Its 00s GT racing so you just drive around on an island while dodging traffic most of the time. desu PMR should have been just gtr2 with reshade, corrected dmg files so the AI doesn't get aero damage in long races and maybe slightly better AI pit logic so the it doesn't take full tyres and does a full refuel even when a splash and dash is enough
