I briefly got to drive a 2025 Buick rental and the only modern "feature" I miss is the adaptive cruise control.
It was very nice to be able to set cruise for speed limit +10, and then let the car do all the work of dealing with the retards in front of me who think it's okay to change their speed every 30 seconds.
It had lane keep assist, but I didn't like it very much. It wouldn't kick in until you were already drifting out of the lane, and at this point I assume people who like it only like it because it enables phone usage while driving.
But, I'm glad I'm without the adaptive cruise again. If my main car had it, then I would be less inclined to drive my older cars, and I like them. And keeping pace with people isn't hard anyway, just annoying.

My only experience with driving AIDS is in a rental nissan and it absolutely did not disable with my hands on the wheel.

Basic cruise control is nice.
Adaptive cruise control is cool when it works, super annoying when it doesn't (most of the time) and decides to slow down to 50 on a highway because it detected a car 300ft in front of you even at the tightest setting.
Lane departure warnings are annoying.
Lane keep assist is great for commuting depending on the car. Some actually stay in the middle of the lane, others are way to sensitive and rock back and forth because the paint lines aren't fully straight and will make you sick.
Backup cameras are nice for tight city parking lots.

You know I read so many reviews of adaptive cruise systems saying that it only lets you follow other cars from way too far away, and mine is kinda the opposite. I have it set on furthest away, I don't mind if people cut me off rather that than be tailed, but it has 3 closer settings that let you follow REALLY close and the stop and go function stops like 2 ft from the car in front of you which is super uncanny.

its not perfect, it works ok on straight highways but you STILL have to drop the transmission from 8th to 7th or 6th if the highway is winding, it won't do that on its own and oddly it will give you a higher gear but ONLY on uphill grades, not downhill ones which is mildly maddening, but this is an older version of the system, I haven't tried the highway driving assist "2" system to compare, and I haven't seen anyone writing or making videos about such a comparison.

I wonder if other systems handle slowing down for tight curves better. It just has to figure out how to downshift for tight curves and hills and slow down a bit too and then speed up again when they are over/it flattens out.

I barely use my parking sensors at all because you have to get pretty close for those to turn on and the 360 camera does what you need.

I do wish I could manually activate it at 30 mph or under on dirt roads. It turns on automatically if you are REALLY struggling, but only less than 10mph.

Modern cars are starting to do this via computers that read what the tires are doing and try to use the electric motor to put that feedback back into the wheel, but it's as fake as fake engine noises and fake gear shifts on CVTs. The die-hard petrolheads won't accept it, no matter how convincing it may be, and the normalfags don't actually want any of that in a car.

Honestly, video games have been the worst addiction of my life. Been playing since 3 on the NES. 35 years later I still am known to spend 8+ hours a day gaming. In my 20s I'd do 30+ hour sessions. Almost maxxed out the SAT and SAT? During those tests all I wanted to do was get out and play this new "WoW" game. What a waste of a mind.
Try hard at life? Screw that when you can get fucked up and play games! I was a hard drug addict for a decade+ (very easy when you're a game addict) yet I still think video games had a more-negative impact on my life.
I love them, I still play 30 year old games for hours most days, and that might be the problem.

basically the problems with my system:
no audible warning when the auto-steer deactivates, it just starts drifting out of the lane which um is bad - I think the revised version probably doesn't do that
if you have an exit there there's no dotted white lines it will cling to the right and auto-exit - it should be trained to follow the nav guidance and not exit - again. the new version supposedly has better awareness for exits and onramps - this system you just have to turn off for those really
but mostly its just like having an extra set of hands on the wheel which is nice, except for winding roads, where its still pretty useless, I wonder if more advanced systems have solved the issue of it being too dumb to downshift and slow down for hairpin curves

it works if there's lane markers on both sides, and those markers are wide enough
