I would never buy another car that didn't have lane-keep assist. It is the single most essential feature in a modern car. A 360 camera is perhaps #2.
Guess this frog retard was finally able to breach the new captcha.
>>28839756Did you see that video of the Toyota van that lane kept into an oncoming truck and even when the driver was trying to go the other way.
>>28839776Its supposed to deactivate instantly if you grab the wheel. You also have no idea what was actually happening in that video, you are just assuming something that aligns with your pet narrative that assistive technology is unsafe and intrusive, rather than largely helpful. I agree it should be standardized to try to reduce accidents. >trusting a Toyotathat's what you get
>>28839756You shouldnt be driving at all.
>>28839786In an ideal world, no one would be driving at all.
>>28839787cars should just drive themselvestoo many people are absurdly aggressive and anti-social drivers and just use having a car as a way to try to threaten me with vehicular manslaughtercops don't do shit
>>28839756I briefly got to drive a 2025 Buick rental and the only modern "feature" I miss is the adaptive cruise control. It was very nice to be able to set cruise for speed limit +10, and then let the car do all the work of dealing with the retards in front of me who think it's okay to change their speed every 30 seconds. It had lane keep assist, but I didn't like it very much. It wouldn't kick in until you were already drifting out of the lane, and at this point I assume people who like it only like it because it enables phone usage while driving. But, I'm glad I'm without the adaptive cruise again. If my main car had it, then I would be less inclined to drive my older cars, and I like them. And keeping pace with people isn't hard anyway, just annoying.
>>28839790>It wouldn't kick in until you were already drifting out of the laneit's not supposed to work that way
>>28839756Adaptive cruise control is way nicer than lane assist. The latter requires you to hold the steering wheel anyways.
>>28839858>The latter requires you to hold the steering wheel anyways.not on my machinethey work togetheradaptive cruise means self acceleration with self brakinglane keep is self steering
>>28839756Remembering that fuckwits like you share the road with me has saved me from disaster countless times.
>>28840184wow, rude
>>28839785>it's supposed toMy only experience with driving AIDS is in a rental nissan and it absolutely did not disable with my hands on the wheel.Kids have training wheels on a bicycle.A driver is supposed to have control of the vehicle.Nissan is all I can speak for, but the wheel vibrating and trying to (gently, mind you) turn itself when the car thinks a complicated set of road trun lines is me losing the lane is god fucking awful. It's shit its all shit and you're a bad person.
>>28840256>and it absolutely did not disable with my hands on the wheel.that's not what I meanif you touch the steering wheel it shouldnt deactivate but if you try to TURN it, it shouldits supposed to work with you, but if you make a sudden move, it should deactivate and not try to fight youthere's no way your shitty rental had the latest version of nissan's "pro pilot assist" anyways
>>28839756Instantly turn that shit off in any car. Horrible "feature"
>>28840279cuz you never paid for a car with a quality version of it
>>28840287You've never been punched in the face until something breaks.
>>28840339true
>car screeches at you everytime you take hands off wheel>camera can track your eye movement if you look alway for a split second nah
It requires electric steering which makes it impossible to drive straight in many cars. We really solved automotive safety!
>>28840592>>car screeches at you everytime you take hands off wheelit shouldn't do that>>camera can track your eye movement if you look alway for a split secondsome systems don't do that, I agree some of the tech is too intrusive>>28840601would it be possible to figure out how to get it to work with hydraulic steering?
>>28839756My daily driver doesn't even have ABS and I will keep it that way
>>28839756>I would never buy another car that didn't have lane-keep assist.Literally the first thing I have to turn off in any nucarI'm not a retard, I know how to keep it between the lines.>>28840259That shit absolutely tries to fight you because its meant to counter retards who literally can't handle the most fundamental aspect of driving.
>>28839787No one except for me
>>28840698>That shit absolutely tries to fight yout. has not driven a car with a well-designed system and thinks they are all like that
>Been driving a '24 with electric steering>Thought I was getting too old and shittier at driving because it kept getting pushed around by road imperfections >Buy ratty underweight '90s japbox with hydraulic.Suddenly I can drive in a straight line without consciously micromanaging the wheel. It felt liberating the first time. To me, that's a big deal.
>>28840705I don't want anything that tries to make steering inputs while I'm driving. Adaptive cruise control with lane centering is fine because it's only on when I choose to use it, lane keep assist is the work of satan.
>>28839756>nanny>single most essential featureFor me, it's air conditioning.
>>28840927When I’m prepping a shitbox for a road trip, the list goes on”Brakes, AC, Cooling, Fuel, Ignition, Suspension, Radio.
>>28840723mm it works fine if you have good software
>>28841245I don't care, I don't need it
>>28839756i think the driving test should be done in a 1990 shitbox with no quality of life and if you can't back into spots or drive without a camera u fail.
>>28841259it's genuinely useful
>>28839756If you can't lane keep then you can't drive.Stick to public transport and give the human lane keep assist a tip.
>>28841309public transport doesn't really work to get me to cool mountain placesI'd like to be able to just program in a gps coordinate into my cuckover, and it should drive me there, including the ability to get it to stop for bathrooms and gas stations and park itself and all thatthe future should be nowwhy wait?
>>28841336>the future should be nowI don't really think solving your fear of driving should be a multi-billion dollar focus for humanity.
>>28841336You ought to get a Finnish drivers licence.https://youtu.be/2bmqdnx5R1U?
>>28839756goyssist
>>28841336why are you here if you don't like driving
>>28839756>A 360 cameranigger those are called windows
Get off your phone, idiots.
>>28841364cars take you places
>>28841405You seem to want "other people" to "take you.">I want to go to the mountains, but I don't want to drive there. I wonder if flying there would be better?>Someone else should tell me what to do!!That's you.
>>28841336I believe Tesla offers full self driving.
>>28841405this isn't the travel board
>>28841442>battery powered>horrid interior>have to find chargers in populated places>takes an hour>lol if you actually take it on mountain roads it will lose charge in 150 mi flat
>>28841461it fucking should be, this should be the cool road trip board, wrenching is boring
>>28842822>>/trv/
>never used cruise control in my life>never had a car with "lane assist">never driven an electronic rack>never had a backup cameraAll those nannies make you a worse driver
>>28842978ur missing out on comfort and easeexcept electric racks I agree those are garbage...
>>28842978Basic cruise control is nice.Adaptive cruise control is cool when it works, super annoying when it doesn't (most of the time) and decides to slow down to 50 on a highway because it detected a car 300ft in front of you even at the tightest setting.Lane departure warnings are annoying.Lane keep assist is great for commuting depending on the car. Some actually stay in the middle of the lane, others are way to sensitive and rock back and forth because the paint lines aren't fully straight and will make you sick. Backup cameras are nice for tight city parking lots.
>>28843119You know I read so many reviews of adaptive cruise systems saying that it only lets you follow other cars from way too far away, and mine is kinda the opposite. I have it set on furthest away, I don't mind if people cut me off rather that than be tailed, but it has 3 closer settings that let you follow REALLY close and the stop and go function stops like 2 ft from the car in front of you which is super uncanny. >Lane departure warnings are annoying.I find it pretty useful, it has saved my hide a few times>Some actually stay in the middle of the lane, its not perfect, it works ok on straight highways but you STILL have to drop the transmission from 8th to 7th or 6th if the highway is winding, it won't do that on its own and oddly it will give you a higher gear but ONLY on uphill grades, not downhill ones which is mildly maddening, but this is an older version of the system, I haven't tried the highway driving assist "2" system to compare, and I haven't seen anyone writing or making videos about such a comparison. I wonder if other systems handle slowing down for tight curves better. It just has to figure out how to downshift for tight curves and hills and slow down a bit too and then speed up again when they are over/it flattens out. >Backup cameras are nice for tight city parking lots.I barely use my parking sensors at all because you have to get pretty close for those to turn on and the 360 camera does what you need. I do wish I could manually activate it at 30 mph or under on dirt roads. It turns on automatically if you are REALLY struggling, but only less than 10mph.
>>28842985>except electric racksUnfortunately for these nanny systems to work, they require an electronic rack.
>>28839756I would say this is b8 but I know you retarded niggers are this stupid
>>28843137there must be another way like the feel of a hydraulic rack + the automation of electricity
>>28843154>like the feel of a hydraulic rackModern cars are starting to do this via computers that read what the tires are doing and try to use the electric motor to put that feedback back into the wheel, but it's as fake as fake engine noises and fake gear shifts on CVTs. The die-hard petrolheads won't accept it, no matter how convincing it may be, and the normalfags don't actually want any of that in a car.
>>28843165that's not good enough
>>28839756My Porsche had ACC but no lane keep assist and by allaah it’s great
>>28839756eyes on the road or get off it
>>28839787Imagine going to /v/ and saying>In an ideal world, no one would be playing video games at allAnything for the (you)s huh?
>>28839756The car I drive steers to the left the second you let loose of the wheel. And I like it that way.
>>28839756are you a 65 year old female perhaps
>>28844147that's true, video games should be destroyed and people forced to interact and/or go outside
>>28844186Honestly, video games have been the worst addiction of my life. Been playing since 3 on the NES. 35 years later I still am known to spend 8+ hours a day gaming. In my 20s I'd do 30+ hour sessions. Almost maxxed out the SAT and SAT? During those tests all I wanted to do was get out and play this new "WoW" game. What a waste of a mind.Try hard at life? Screw that when you can get fucked up and play games! I was a hard drug addict for a decade+ (very easy when you're a game addict) yet I still think video games had a more-negative impact on my life.I love them, I still play 30 year old games for hours most days, and that might be the problem.
>>28844192It would be fun to take you outside and show you cool places and be like "see this is better than games, right?".
>>28844195You'd be surprised, I live deep innawoods and have a small farm to run. I love just feeding the fish, watching the turtles, deer, goats, and birds as the sun goes down. I drive a convertible and usually have the top down, sometimes I just drive out to state/national parks. I love nature. I also love games, unfortunately. What I don't like is being around other people irl.
>>28839756i dont trust any new tech that makes those sort of changes for mesome sort of visual warning about lanes or blindspots, sure, but as someone that works in tech, i will never trust it to not fuck up eventually
>>28844435if you use it enough you become aware of its flawsbasically the problems with my system:no audible warning when the auto-steer deactivates, it just starts drifting out of the lane which um is bad - I think the revised version probably doesn't do thatif you have an exit there there's no dotted white lines it will cling to the right and auto-exit - it should be trained to follow the nav guidance and not exit - again. the new version supposedly has better awareness for exits and onramps - this system you just have to turn off for those really but mostly its just like having an extra set of hands on the wheel which is nice, except for winding roads, where its still pretty useless, I wonder if more advanced systems have solved the issue of it being too dumb to downshift and slow down for hairpin curves
>>28844147I support getting as many retards off the road as possible so that I can actually enjoy driving.
>>28844186This. A global ban on video games needs to be enacted right now. Too many young men are being lost to this invisible epidemic that is more dangerous than heroin and crack combined. Men need to be learning real skills. Working on your car is a real skill, racing IRL is a real skill. Upgrading your car and winning a race in Grand Autismo is not.
>>28844476shut up you fuckin jew
>>28839756>lane-keep assistits farely useless / nearly homicidal on B and D roads.suppose its good if your onna highway asleap at the wheel.>360 camerato see around the retard thicc roll cage and tiny windows
>>28844476Shalom, rabbi. If only sowing discord and destroying communities of goyim was a skill, too.
>>28839759a.i captcha solving was banged out like a year ago. its crazy to think theres still people not using something to do it for them
>>28845227>its farely useless / nearly homicidal on B and D roads.kind ofit depends on the angleI don't get why it can't figure out how to slow down and downshift for curves, but its too stupid for that in the current versionit works if there's lane markers on both sides, and those markers are wide enoughit can handle some curves but anything more than I dunno 20 degrees you will have to slow down and steer it
>>28843271thanks tranny
