what is the appeal of the lexus brand?
what sets it appart from Mercadez and bmw and rolls royce or Christler or cadillac or lincion? what is the hype around it?
>>
>>28841568
>what is the appeal
Toyota with leather
>>
>>28841568
mu reliability, that's it. Also idk if there is hype around it anymore, for a time yes. They are pretty unpopular compared to the germans nowadays.
>>
>>28841571
>leather
nigga it's plastic
>>
I never really got the point of that pic, like yeah sure you can balance a bunch of wine glasses on the bonnet, big whoop when even yanks could do that and the Germans were balancing pennies on their engines and gunning it to the limiter and back without the coins falling over.
>>
>>28841568
Lexus just looks better especially the 2017 IS 300
>>
>>28841568
it's reliable so you can drive it past the lease
>>
>>28841593
My mom leased her lexus then bought it and now its mine and it has 82,000km
>>
>>28841568
It is for the geriatrics.
>>
>>28841568
Originally, it was luxury car, but cheaper and more reliable than BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc at the time. Also, better customer service.

Not so true anymore. The price gap has virtually disappeared and current reliability ratings aren't as good as they used to be. They're basically resting on their laurels of past glory.
>>
>>28841644
nah they are still super reliable, toyota has slipped but not lexus which still uses a lot of NA v8s (at least until like 2 years ago)

>>28841568
luxurious, comfortable, good features and reliable and not planned obsolescent cars like bmw and mercedes.

BMW and mercedes also will do anything to get an extra 5 horsepower even if it means making 500 hp out of a 1.8l engine and having it blow up after 4 years
>>
>>28841645

>BMW and mercedes also will do anything to get an extra 5 horsepower【3,7 kW】 even if it means making 500 hp out of a 1.8l engine and having it blow up after 4 years

what kind of horseshit is this? their current smallest engine is the b38 1.2/1.5 that makes from 70 to 140 bhp, all of the newest B series engines are reliable and the 3.0 one can be reliably tuned to 500hp. no engines blowing up rn, old fuck stuck in 2005?
>>
>>28841568
It was a reliable cuckbox for the geriatrics. Right now, the nu-lexus is no longer reliable, so the geriatrics will keep their old lexus longer.
>>
>>28841568
Extremely minimalist Japanese luxury. They also appealed to old people by having tan interiors and beige paint jobs.
>>
>>28841568
The LS isn't a rental, all European and American cars are.
>>
>>28841568
I've had a couple of them and they're a reasonable car, doubt I'd 'hype' on them as there's some parts about them I don't like but otherwise well mannered, reliable and nothing ever seems to fuck up or majorly go wrong with them. The few times I've ever had anything to do with the dealership were also very reasonable.
Oh and they're completely invisible to the police
>>
>>28841571
and as usual the japs kept the top tier shit for themselves
>toyota celsior with wool seats and other additions that foreign markets never got
>>
>>28841568
dunno what the hype around it now is besides being perceived as a deadset reliable luxobarge. But back when they first came out it was a pretty big deal - you had mercedes s-class/bmw 7-series levels of luxury for several thousands of dollars less. Toyota initially planned to sell it for 25k at the time, but due to inflation or something they had to set it at 35k (~90k in 2025) and they were worried that they'd lose too many customers because of it. It was still priced low enough that BMW got butthurt and accused Toyota of selling it below cost.
Then they found out that there was something wrong with the brake light/lights (iirc it *might* overheat) and just two owners reported it out of several thousands of people that already bought theirs, but they decided to issue a recall anyway and have loaner cars given to the owners at no extra cost or effort. In one case Toyota flew a mechanic out to a guy's house to do the recall in his driveway.
It's shit like this that people will remember for a long, long time.
>>
This gen RX with this color was their peak. Now they are just uglier versions of Euro cars.
>>
>>28841766
>Now they are just uglier versions of Euro cars.
They always were.
>>
>>28841654
im talking about mercedes there timmy with their 2.0 liter amgs and general european love of hp vs litre
>>
>>28841766
>>28841769
The Lexus RX is still called "reliable" by some cope merchants, but it's a clear downgrade from real Lexuses and now gets embarrassed by certain kraut cars in actual dependability.
Power liftgate fails constantly, rear shocks leak like sieves, infotainment is a glitchy dumpster fire (presets disappear, wireless charger is DOA, speakers blast static), acceleration feels like the engine is asleep, shifts are lazy and rough, there's this infuriating exhaust drone at 1600 rpm that never stops, and the ride is bouncy/jarring/harsh as hell especially the F-Sport which feels outright punishing.
Oh and the adaptive high beams have a recall because the LED reflector can literally detach and leave you with half a headlight.

This is why the new RX is getting less common everywhere. Luxury tax for this level of mediocrity is criminal period. Those cucks and weebcels are fine with this cuz "IT IS OK WHEN TOYOTA DOES IT!"
>>
>>28841766
Ok I'm a sucker for a tidy LS400 but anon, this thing looks like a catfish
>>
>>28841792
nobody cares about the RX. LX, GX LS and IS is where its at
>>
Why do seppos talk about lexus like they aren't a Toyota? Its like Cumming at the site of a Toyota Orion.
>>
>>28841799
Anyone who likes any crossover is a dick in arse poofta faggot or female.
>>
>>28841568

Lexus/toyota fans are the reddit atheists of car enthusiasts. They obsess over the FACTS and LOGIC of how OBJECTIVELY their cars are CORRECT and THE BEST, but completely lack nuanced thought or good taste. At least BMW fanboys, who are also annoying, are self aware of their oil leaking, electronics issue prone junk.
>>
>>28841568
They are cheaper new.
>>
>>28841575
They are not, a Lexus has exactly the same issues as an S Class.
>>
>>28841868
The main issue being declining quality with no decline in cost.

The polar opposite is true.

Lexus is the brand for people with an iq over 120.

So dimwits as people with an iq over 140 know that Cadillac is superior and people with an iq over 160 look at a GAZ-24 as the epitome of personal luxury

more reliable, with every bit as high a build quality as german brands.
tragically they have maintained parity with the germans, all the way down
>>
Avoid any model with turbos, and that list is shrinking extremely fast.
>>
>>28841792
Sounds like a new model problem. I still ride a 2011 RX and it's still a brand new car, basically
>>
>>28842847
I also test drove a 2023 RX, and everything felt cheaper, from the interior materials to the weight of the door.

The less reliable turbo engines do not need to be mentioned.

lmao
>>
>>28842847
The 5th-gen RX has been out since the 2022–2023 models, and they're very rare to see in public - which basically means it flopped hard.

Now you mention the 2011 RX? Yeah, those have a ton of well-documented problems, most notably the severe oil leak from the VVT-i rubber oil cooler hose that can straight-up destroy the engine. Other common issues include AC amplifier failures, dashboard cracking in hot climates, and frequent transmission problems.

So much for muh reliability
>>
>>28841568
It's basically a car for people who want a Mercedes but can't afford one.

>They cost the same now!
No they don't. Not even close when you include maintenance.
>So you admit it's a better car?
It's certainly cheaper if repair bills scare you. Back when these cars were actual status symbols, talking Mercedes here, you would've had an assistant handle all of the car maintenance and it literally wouldn't have been your problem. Poorfags debt maxing into "luxury" are the problem. That's why Lexus exists now.
>>
i think its for asian americans thats all i ever see driving lexus

Trash
One of those brands of cars that you look at go, "wow, E for effort pimp"
>>
>>28841568
Depends on which models desu
The entry level Lexus absolutely mogs all the entry level German cars , have actual good build quality and not full of squeaky cheap plastic interior
The high end (LS) mogs the 7 series / s class for the same reason, while losing out on power and exclusivity
Not to mention how much more reliable they are
For raw performance models, well they can't compare to the Germans, but the RCF is a superior grand tourer to the German options (unless willing to spend big bucks on an AMG GT).
>>
>>28841868
Not really. The LS is less reliable than previous generations but it's nowhere near S Class tier problems.

It happened to my neighbor. Lmao. He was dumbfounded because he thought he bought a reliable shitbox instead of an endless problematic shitbox. He dumped it for a Hyundai one because of the 10-year warranty. Nuff said.
>>
>>28841568
Historically? They undercut the Germans and Americans and made a far better product. Now it's all basically the same, but for a time they completely disrupted the luxury market, and probably made it better on the whole.

Minis are just reshelled bmws afaik
And buicks are probably considered so dependable because the geriatric owners only drive them to church and back for a total of 520 miles a year

The appeal for me is exactly that it isnt another Audi, Merc, BMW. I see them everywhere and they are just part of the background for me. Today i drove to another city and i saw people turn their heads like sunflowers.
