Specific groups of Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans who are mostly just have something that runs and for a long time could be bought for about $1,000-$5000 all day long on the used market with plenty of parts and people who know how to replace the bits that break constantly.

A shitbox V8 full sized van or truck was one of the most popular starter vehicles to throw at learning teenagers because literally who cares if the steel brick powered by a super common motor gets a dent or scratch or rusts away in the weather as a farm tool.

When I took my car to the track there were almost as many Camaros as there were porches or bmws, and I'm still shocked honestly.
Aside from "my team better" what exactly makes them so desirable for track use?

The Alpha platform handles incredibly and the LT1 has gobs of torque across the powerband. Comes with a nice Tremec transmission too

I still feel like I'm being punked by some cosmic joke. They always felt like boardroom designed shovelware, and the least liked of the big three NuMuscle cars.

Granted, I'm still trying to justify liking the challenger because of its blatant flaws. And it's not like Ford is much less of an oblivious corporate entity. (Though I respect that it didn't need a bailout, and paid back quickly what it was given)

When you're driving, do you prescribe your attention to your own car and driving, or what some other guy somewhere else is doing?

With the variety of drivers, skill levels, and vehicles, even within the same brand there wasn't any clear showing that one was inherently better than another.

Anyway, I think this mustang is cool

Al Oppenheiser was the chief engineer on the 6th gen Camaro project.

Camaro was the no-compromise performance sports car of the 3. Mustang was the pony car and Challenger was the muscle car. It wasn't purchased as much by normies because normies wanted something easier to live with and didn't care for the performance. Enthusiasts could tolerate any inconvenience to get the best performing of the 3.

These are correct answers.
Chevrolet is a truck company that has to sell cars to meet EPA regs.
If well maintained their old trucks are damn near indestructible

Every GM product I've personally experienced felt very corporate and kinda half-assed. Even Cadillacs felt plasticky and uninspired. The Corvette really seemed to be the only exception because it is it's own thing, but I still can't get myself out of this impression.

Lowest trim V8 Camaro is the LT1. 1LE track pack was a separate option that could be added to 1SS 2SS or ZL1 trims. It used to be on the 2.0T and 3.6 trims for a few years too. The funniest part is that a 1SS 1LE was around 44k starting while a GT PP2 started 49k. 5k cheaper and you got a TR6060.

GM is capable of making something good but management usually prevents that from happening. The 6th gen SS was too good for this world, the GTX 1080ti of cars. Or maybe 7970ghz.

I just bought a 2011 5.3l v8 4x4 silverado w/t yesterday. What am I in for? We drive sierras at work so it just feels natural driving one as my personal vehicle. No rust, 1 owner, clean carfax, dealership serviced l. 110k miles for $10k. No rust... cars make me anxious, I've only ever had bad ones, but this feels great. Clean idle, quiet. I love the W/T trim. I crave simplicity.

This. It's insane propaganda. From personal experience:

>Ford
2 pickups, 1 minivan, 1 commercial truck. Every single one was stone reliable.

>Chevy
1 sedan (my girlfriend's). Broke down constantly. 1 SUV rented for two days. Fine.

Ford is 100% reliable. Chevy is 50/50. Never buying a Chevy.

Man, when's the 7th gen Camaro coming out. I missed my chance to get a new ZL1.

You'll have to follow a long line of rumors and hearsay. When the engineers gave their proposal for a 7th gen the executives said no. Instead corporate wanted an EV crossover to compete with the Mach E.

Management thought for sure the Mustang was going to go Ecoboost only in an effort to get people to accept the Mach E and that the Charger/Challenger were dead. The believed the future of the muscle car was going to be EV crossovers.

But the enthusiast market had a middling response to high power EVs. The new Charger fell flat almost instantly while the Mustang has never had as many options. Yet despite all of it's offerings the Mustang has had its worst sales years on record while being the only car left in its class.

Seeing the response, the engineers were called in to give their pitch again. The basic outline was to update the Alpha platform, cut weight, cut price and make it more practical. This is where the rumors split. Recently there has been more talk about the EV suv being real while the Cadillac CT4 (also on the Alpha platform) will be killed. The CT5 is supposed to get a large refresh.

Around 2020 when the first credible rumors of the 6th gen's discontinuation were spreading an EV powerd IROC was spotted at the GM testing grounds. GM's president says he wants a proper successor but it seems more likely bean counters will force a comprise and we'll probably get an EV sedan. So real 7th gen never.

You should delete the DoD. I think other than that it's good. Ive never had the 6 speed 6l60 but heard it's better than the 4l60.
