The luxury of these cars is useless. They're too unreliable to actually drive long distances. At least an S class won't leave you stranded.
>>28845433People with rolls royces take private aircraft if they're going somewhere more than a few miles away
>>28845433These cars are bought new, driven 5k miles then sold a year or two later or they're bought a couple years old and sold a couple years after that. Even a 7 Series is going to stay reliable for the first 1-5 years.
>>28845433An S class will absolutely leave you stranded. Euros have not been able to build a car for a long time. That 240d is 50 years old.
>>28845455240d was not an s class
>>28845441A v8 BMW is not a reliable car.You do not own one.
>>28845456But it was reliable.Right?
>>28845459Probably the most reliable car pre 1990sThey did require valve lash adjustment for example
>>28845459I love Mercedes. I used to have a 450sl 4 speed, probably the only one in America.
>>28845433What reliability survey are you quoting?
>>28845433>They're too unreliable to actually drive long distancesare they?
>>28845480They aren't. OP is just retarded and thinks stories of poorfags being stuck with massive maintenance bills = unreliable.
>>28845433Nobody who buys these things will drive them long distance, their entire purpose is to go from their home to their work and back.
>>28845433>they’re too unreliableNo they’re not. They’re very well put together. But what happens is after the first owner gets rid of it is that it’s bought by a nightclub owner or someone like that, then they don’t pay for the upkeep. Then it goes to a wedding hire firm and then it ends up for sale for ten percent of its list price because no one other than the original owner, who has now had three new Rolls Royces since then, was able or willing to pay for the maintenance“Reliability” is the word used by Americans to mean “I get to own this without spending any money on it”
>>28845463How many factory V8 manual benzes were made, like ever?>>28845500This is true but the other part of the equation is these rare cars are difficulty to find someone capable of working on them/with experience. Even my old W140 I wouldn't trust to 99% of mechanics because they'll be unfamiliar and break some unobtanium part.
>>28845457yes it is (yes i do)
>>28845433>At least an S class won't leave you stranded.0/10 try again
>>28845861Yeah the only places capable of competently working on them are either the dealerships or a specialist shop which is only 1 per 100sq km and have a wait list of 2 weeks to even look at the car.
>>28845433Even if true, its a problem for the owners fleet manager.
>>28845433That's a BMW, brother, what is the difference? Bongs haven't made their own cars since 1776.
>>28845861It was imported, I bought it at an auction because I thought it was nuts. They weren't sold in the US. Previous I bought a Biturbo which is the single biggest POS ever made.I was young, I liked having things other people didn't.
>>28845457>>28845867The N63 is one of the worst V8s ever made even the latest technical update. However it’s fun to drive and it’s not actually that likely to strand you. But it costs a fortune to own. It’s gone now though the S68 is the new V8 and there is no ‘N’ version. It’s ground up redesign. How will it do? We don’t know but it’s got a lot of hybrid and emissions shit on it. Surely it’s better than the N63 though. The B58 is good idk why you woudlnt get the inline 6 variant if any bmw anyway
