How fucked is it? Should I keep driving it, try to pawn it off on someone or sell for scrap?

Never tried it, looks like it is just your kind of thing.

depends how deep it is on the inner sill. the outer sill is easy, you can probably buy a panel for cheap (if it's worth bothering)

inner sills can be difficult because there's usually multiple coalescing panels, but it just depends on the car

actually i see that your automobile is body on frame, so the inner sill is probably relatively easy to patch. im guessing you dont have a wrench let alone a mig welder though, so.

You assumed wrong
>mig welder
No

Gas Axe is an art. If you can then learn the art of welding the proper way.

Is the vehicle BOF or unibody? One it's fine, the other it isn't.

You can melt things together just as easily as you can melt them apart.
Chicken poo welds are for kids and modern manufacturing..

According to wikipedia and AI search result it's unibody. Car is 06 Toyota Rav4 Limited. I don't know how important this is hence the thread. I do my own oil, brakes, some minor stuff like alternator and hvac wire repair but this is out of my wheelhouse.

Gotta be honest I don't see myself investing in welding equipment for this. I only paid $4k leafbucks for the car. I can't see any other situation I would use the welder to get value. My current wrenching gear already takes up enough room in my apartment

So how bad is it for a unibody chassis to have rocker panel rust like that? Searching around I see anywhere from "it's fine i've seen worse" to "this should not be on the road you will die"

I basically have no rocker panels left.
I bought this car to hold me over so i could put my real daily down for major work, which is finishing up now. Once I get my truck back from the trans rebuild I intend to sell or scrap this immediately.
I wouldnt worry about your shitbox that much, but it'll definitely get worse if you ignore it

You can rice it out with side skirts and shit to cover the rust. I did that with fender flares and an Aliexpress grill on my 03 forester

You can get spray cans of pain in your cars color from the door tag. I did this like 5 years ago to cover my rusty wheel arches and other than the clear coat failing it looks good.
