What do we think of this?
>>
>>28846710
it’s the 3.3L turbocharged i6 found in the CX70/90.
is it any good?
>>
>>28846711
As is, it's closer to a truck engine than anything you'd want in a sports car
>>
>>28846711
It takes about 10 years to find out if an engine is good or not
>>
>>28846711
its somehow not as fast as you would expect, its smooth, but the transmission is awful and ruins the engine with jerky shifts esp. at low speeds that almost every review has commented on and Mazda won't fix (in house transmission).

>>28846712
I feel like the Hurricane engine that Fiat uses is basically the Ferrari V8 with two cylinders lopped off and you are getting a sports car engine in a trugg. The Ram will do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds!

They have a petrol version and a diesel. Coal rolling a Supra would be fun.
These are the Aussie figures.
>>
>>28846720
You know the hurricane thing is an inline 6? The quadrifoglio v6 engine and the maserati neptuno are basically the Ferrari V8 though
>>
Hoping they go from McDonalds to Dual Wishbone also.
>>
>>28846710
They need to shorten the stroke from 94mm to something less otherwise it won't be able to rev for shit
>>
>>28846810
Yea that was a complete downgrade
>>
>>28846833
the B58 has a longer stroke
>>
>>28846810
Well that’s something I learned today, Supras using MacPherson struts.
>>
>>28846710
Is there any chance it has the same reliable power? I think not.
Mazda doesn’t make engines that are meant to be driven for 20 minutes in the power band. I hope Toyota does it so the weebs will shut the fuck up and learn a lesson just like with the 86
>>
>>28846855
And it can't rev for shit lol. 94 mm stroke? Might as well be a diesel
>>
>>28846870
What is wrong with the 86? Its an awesome car, like a big toy. My brother has a first gen he's beat on for years and it runs fine.
>>
>>28846887
The second gen has oil starvation issues on track and Toyota won’t warranty it. It’s a bad design.

I agree they’re kind of fun to drive
>>
>>28846710
Aside for how often mazda stuff ends up being overhyped nothingburgers, where is toyota gonna get the chassis from?
Toyota originally partnered with BMW not just for the b58, but the Z4 underpinnings made it a complete package for them to facelift, rebadge and sell off as a new car
>>
>>28846710
GO MAZDA GO!
>>
>>28846788
>You know the hurricane thing is an inline 6?
sorry, retard question
can you not fashion an inline 6 from a v8 just by changing the angle the cylinders are arranged?

in any event I get the sense Ferrari designed the Hurricane engine as most reviews have said its a supercar engine even in non supercar applications

>>28846810
mfw I am stuck with mcdonalds
its not so bad unless there's bumps or you are on a dirt road on a grade, then its bouncy nonsense
>>
>>28846882
revs higher than a 2jz
>>
>>28846710
>>28846711
So it's going to be worse in every way possible than the B58, but the weebs will get to be satisfied about how it's le japanese or something?
>>
>>28846913
wrenchlet
>>
>>28846919
>So it's going to be worse in every way possible than the B58
hows it gonna be worse, japaneese men made it meanwhile its a bunch of mehmets and habebees assembling all that eurotrash
>>
>>28846710
That's great. A good displacement modern turbo straight six. It's what I crave.
>>
>>28846710

BTW, this is from the Cx-90 seven seater, which has a mild hybrid. IDK how that would convert to a sportscar.
>>
>>28846919
Worse from a pure performance, but much more reliable. I'm sure that due to mazda not having a strong enough modification base for a i-6 engine, there will be alot more sketchy modded mazda-supra out there leading to a belief in it being unreliable (same as Subaru being called unreliable because mods fuck up the engine). What I'm more interested in is if mazda makes a supra clone
>>
>>28846894
>can you not fashion an inline 6 from a v8 just by changing the angle the cylinders are arranged?
No
>>
>>28847259
>but much more reliable
Proof? No one knows what'll happen to mazda's inline 6 when they try to output 350hp from it
>>
>>28846924
So it's going to be assembled by soulless gooks instead of muslims? How is that any better?
>>
>>28846810
>>28846866
huh, guess it's a GT cressida/mark ii lol
>>
>>28847339
dumbass ricer, wrenchlet
>>
>>28846710
Why can't they just use it the 3.5 turbo V6 they have, but tune it for more top-end power?
>>
>>28847367
dumbass wrenchlet
>>
>reportedly considering
I fucking hate journalists. Anyways, it's most likely they're going to use a 6 cylinder version of their new modular engine based on the G16E which they made a 4 cylinder version of for a show last year and has been confirmed to handle 600hp by Toyota in 4 cylinder trim. Look for a "G30E" to power the new Supra and ignore these shitbird articles.
>>
>>28847369
Sneed
>>
>>28847367
Sorry chuddy, but the lexus performance engines are only used in Toyotas if its going into a limited edition camry that's only sold in a handful of markets or the Japan only crown/mark2
>>
A NA inline 6 would be nicer. But EU regulations basically require twin turbos on everything, so no chance anyone is going to develop one.
Hopefully they figure out an appropriate transmission if the current one is butt.

Alternatively, does Mazda even have plans to put this engine in a sporty vehicle? Or are they content with the miata forever?
And where's the fucking 6?

>>28847367
>TT V6
Garbage compromise engines and done to death already.
>>
>>28847378
>Garbage compromise engines and done to death already.
Sorry, can't hear you over the sound of superiority
>>
>>28847378
>Garbage compromise engines
lol how are they compromised, please enlighten us my ultra giga wrenchlet friend.
>>
>>28847378
Mazda skyactiv shit means they could probably get away with an NA engine and still hit regulatory requirements, no?
>>
>>28846710
Damn, Mazda on the come-up. No cap. Lil bro finally made the team.
>>
>>28847377
Land Cruiser, Tunda and Sequoia also use that engine thougheverbeit
>>
>>28846710
Why doesn’t Toyota just buy rivian and use electric motors? Nothing beats instant torque found in EVs
>>
>>28847487
They have their own EV production: https://pressroom.toyota.com/elevated-style-meets-modern-power-in-the-next-generation-2027-toyota-highlander/
>>
>>28847385
God STFU about Sky active
>>
>>28847506
The entire reason their weird diesel compression ignition for petrol thing was developed was to let larger displacement NA engines match the regulatory efficiency of small displacement turbo engines

>>
>>28846788
Quadrofolio's V6 sounds like crap. It got no Ferrari feel to it. That's why nobody is buying it.
>>
>>28847581
If sound was the reason people buy cars, no one would buy VQ Nissans or S55 BMWs
>>

254 kw is not terrible tbqh I'd consider if the next one is made to be a bit lighter

V8 Supra aleeady exists, it's called LC500
>>

Yea, pretty sure it has bones up front and multilink out back so it really is a proper evolution of the supra. Just sucks there's no manual.

I want a mazdaspeed6 with the same motor but $20k less than whatever the supra will end up costing
