Are my Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws immune to ice in a way the Wildpeak AT3Ws were not?t. headed into the mountains soonit's supposed to be 60 in the valley but there will still be snow at the higher elevations and the warmer temps might make for a slushy mess.
>>28846714I have North 4s on my open diff shitbox and it can keep up with awd cars
>>28846715Sorry, what are "north 4s"? Some sort of all terrain tire? I have AWD and a center diff lock that I SMASH the second I am going slowly or there's a dirt road (it says it only works up to 25 mphs but I think it does work above that speed just doesn't vector AS MUCH torque to the rear at that point. But I am terrified of ice and slipping off mountains and such. And someone was saying the other day, here, that they have Falken AT3Ws and there was a lot of ice and they did terribly compared to their Blizzaks.
>>28846716We have ice tracks we drive onMichelin X-Ice North 4 tiresMost people have them on their cars if they want to go fast. Ballers use rally spike tires but they are only allowed on frozen lakes
>>28846718oh so just normal winter tires? I do not want to go fast, I just want to not die in the ice. I am willing to go slowly.
>>28846721>In short, the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W sets a new standard for winter performance in the off-road all-terrain category. It delivers predictable braking, strong snow bite, and stable ice control, making it one of the few rugged A/Ts that can truly serve as a year-round option even in harsh winter climates.https://tireterrain.com/falken-wildpeak-at4w-review/just drive like you don't have brakes and you'll be fine
>>28846725I got my rotors and pads replaced a few months ago. It wasn't BAD before but it was scary on hairpin curves on narrow roads in the rain. But it's much better now. >>28846725>just drive like you don't have brakes and you'll be fineI'm going to a place where the road maintenance is iffy so that's what has me worried. Plus there's a lot of mountain roads there, some are outright closed for winter, but some would be open just in questionable condition. What's going on here at 100-200 ft elevation is very different than the weather conditions at 3000-4000ft.
>>28846729You'll be fineTry to remember: if you have to touch the brake pedal you're going too fast
>>28846734uhhhim sort of spatially challenged and have poor fine motor skills (congenitally) and kinda always drove riding-on-the-brakes since high school and people complained about it a lotI'm probably not as bad as I was in high school I just wonder if it would be worth exploring if everything is still ice and snow coveredI mean yes I did get these tires that are supposedly ok in snow and ice but I've heard so many horror stories and I'm still recovering from an injury
>>28846737You should not be operating a motor vehicle. Start with a bicycle, remove the brakes once you get the basics down.
>>28846741I had a bike with studded tires once when I lived in a truly cold place. That was fun.
>>28846714They're not the best on ice compared to the competition but they're still likely good enough to not get you killed. https://youtu.be/LS8JI2FD6-o?t=457
>>28846714My Frontier with Rubitreks that's front heavy because it has a brush guard and no weight in the bed in 4 wheel could go anywhere I wanted with no difficulty or even need for caution, and even in 2 wheel I could struggle up the hill I live in when it was fully covered and come to a complete solid stop when braking going down hill.
