I was thinking about an airbag vest cause that's what they use in motogp but I've realized that buying a hard armor might be better because:
1. Motogp airbag suit is not the same as a cheap vest
2. The danger on the streets is different than in motogp because streets have cars

Typically an airbag vest is activated by pulling a cable that connects the vest with your bike. Pulling the cable means you fell of your bike. But hooking and unhooking the cable seems like one of those everyday things you'll forget to do once in a while. On the other hand, activated vest stiffens your neck which is the most important part of your body other than head cause that's what connects the head with rest of your body.

just don't crash bro

It only works if you wear it 100% of the time and you'll stop wearing it and when you crash it will be hanging in your closet.
Theyre very form fitting by nature and its either going to be too hot or too cold. You cant just put a sweater under/over it.
Youre not going to spend 5 minutes putting it on for the 6 minute trip to the store.
When you go for a ride on a saturday afternoon and spend time to put it on youre not going to crash bevause youre focused and "in the groove".
You'll need it when you crash on the way to work because you were late and trying to shave 2 minutes off your commute or when youre thinking about the shopping list on the way to the store and werent paying attention to your mirrors when stopped at the light.

Armour looks cool but I couldn't find a suit that fits around my fat belly plus I have to put on a backpack multiple times during and the limited mobility of a full suit will hinder that activity.

Don't forget to protect your bum and hips because when you're sliding along the road those are the points of contact with the road.

You wear a base layer under the suit and/or a rain jacket over the suit.

>It only works if you wear it

Fortnine did a good video on these. Very promising technology.

There are accelerometer activated vests that skip the cable. If you already wear a backpack while riding look into airbag backpacks, gonna be easier to throw those on and go.
Hard armor is already a known thing in the motorcycle world, if it was good for the street people would be wearing it and high end $1k ADV Dad jackets would incorporate it.

You missed the point, dipshit.
You'll get bored with it and stop putting it on for short trips. It only works if you wear it 100% of the time. Which nobody does.
>>28847096
And once you have it adjusted for that base layer it only fits with that base layer.
I can tell you've never used one.
If youre weather is a hi of 72° and a lot of 72° 365 days a year youre fine.
If your weather actually changes it no longer fits or you freeze your balls off (uncomfortable) or risk heat exhaustion (deadly).

not really your choice tho, is it?

I have a textile suit with shoulder, elbow, knee armour for everyday riding. If you get into leather suit with back and chest protectors it's shit not being able to move properly and dealing with hot/cold/wet.

If you crash at 100mph chances are you're going to break your neck and die anyway so just wear something that stops you shedding skin in a slide.

I wear my armor every time I go out, whether it's 40 or 90 out.
