do people actually use Nitrogen Oxide ?
No
NO.
>>28852527>>28852528what's the source of this myth?
>>28852529You, nigga
>>28852529It says NO right in your pic, silly.
>>28852534>>28852538i want to know if any people irl use Nitro like in games or movies
>>28852540Yes they do, nitrous oxide. It's not very common outside of serious drag racing and some 00s modders because of the fast and the furious. There was even a trim of the Focus that came with it stock (though disconnected for legal reasons).
>>28852544so it was actually used in illegal races before the movies were made
>>28852598Yes, and it was more popular in the late 90s, but never has been common at all. You see setups in 90s tuner mags.I wonder about tuning for it, as you'd need more fuel delivery and retarded ignition timing right when you use it or the engine won't last long.
>>28852525the suffix of -ic, -ous denotes the ion charge state and there's no pairing of nitrogen and oxygen that gives you "nitrogen oxide"
>>28852525I use it pretty frequently
>>28852525Yes ,dentists
>>28852624>you'd need more fuel deliveryThat's literally the point. It increases the oxygen so that more bang bang juice can be burned per combustion. Not increasing fuel flow is a great way to spend several thousand on burning your pistons out.
>>28852525Professional drifters are using N20 , but the use cases for drifting are a bit unique.Rather than using an always-on system to increase top-line horsepower, many teams are using nitrous only for the initial launch from the starting line or to help spool the turbo. Today’s modern engine management systems can be programmed to only operate the nitrous in specific gears and at specific RPMs.With the level of competitiveness of the cars these days, losing a car length or two off the launch from the starting line could be the difference between a competitive tandem battle or losing based on lack of proximity.
>>28852660That's literally what I said. But that added air isn't caught by the MAF so I'm curious how the tune the fuel to be added at the right time.
>>28852540yesThe way it works is actually that the nitrogen is just a fire preventative, the real important part of the mix is the oxygen, but you cant keep a bottle of pure oxygen in a car because you'll Apollo 1 yourself. So nitrous oxide is more stable and less flammable, as well as cheaper than pure O2.in effect the injection of Nitrous Oxide into the intake stream is functionally the same thing as adding a turbo: you are forcing more burnable air into the cylinder than it could normally draw in by itself, and if you have more air you can add more fuel which in turn makes more power. It's cheaper and easier than a forced induction install because it doesn't need an oil or coolant supply, nor does it parasitize power from the engine to work. You can finely tune the nitro shot for a precise amount of power. The downside is obviously that it's uses are limited.
>>28852703An advanced nitrous system with safety features is at least as expensive as a turbocharger.Unless you want to quickly ruin your engine.
>>28852598It started out in WWII warplanes. US hotrodders began using it in the 50's. NOS began making bolt-on 150hp "cheater" kits around '85 or '86, if I remember right. The power gains are absolutely fucking staggering, but you lose fuel pressure for less than a second and your pistons melt down into goo.
I use nitrous in the shop
>>28852789I hope you don't man. For your sake. There are legal dissociatives that aren't inhalants and dissociatives are terrifying.
>>28852799Nitrous is used in anesthesia and is perfectly safe.
>>28852801>Nitrous is used in anesthesia Yes.>And is perfectly safe. No, dose and route of administration make the poison. Giving yourself sever hypoxia over and over again probably doesn't do your brain any favors.I'm not going to tell you not to do it, that would be hypocritical of me, just maybe try considering the risks. Those raw papers have the worst adhesive gum, but I see you have the solution, a roller.
>>28852789clean up your stems bro
I need NOS
