I am probably gonna get my first motorcycle soon. I have narrowed it down to a Yamaha R3, Ninja 500, or Triumph Scrambler 400X. Thought about a Ninja 650 or R7 or maybe a ZX4RR but I figure I will drop it at least once so I'd rather do that on a cheaper bike while learning.Probably gonna just get one new, I can afford it.Any advice on which one you would pick? I mostly am interested in street riding, maybe a decent bit of highway stuff and possibly some cross state roadtrips.
I had a crash last January when commuting to work (literally as I was turning into the parking lot). Ever since, I've been afraid to lean. I'm a newfag at bikes, how do I get better? I can still do my commute, which is the main reason I have a bike, but I'd like to do longer rides.
>>28853337nice, have you watched totw2, bakuon and supercub? thoughts?
>>28853337Depending where you are r3 are everywhere used but a majority are missing lights, ninja 500s are theft prone. Figure out insurance rates on sport bikes first, it might end up pushing you to the triumph for a few years till premiums dip. Premiums on new rider sport bikes are 60 a month and up with only actual cash value coverage instead of full. I have to have a separate theft insurance to keep prices down.
>>28853339did you figure out what you did wrong?
How come scooters never wave back? They always give me the nastiest looks. Harley riders wave back more often than the scooter guys tobequitefrank.
>>28853369It happened too quick, I've been running it back in my head, best I can think is rolling on while already leaned over. There was a bit of frost on the ground that day, but not enough make me slide.
>>28853373i dont waive to anyone with more than 125cc. you are all spoiled rotten with power.
>>28853339I know the feeling but the want and feeling to lean more came back. I just go through sharp city corners slower now.You were wearing gear right?>>28853374How fast did you go and did you lean away from the bike or into it. You should be counter leaning in parking lot speeds.

>>28853374dont forget you have no grip in the cold, not because of ice but because tires dont grip well in the cold by default.
>>28853373because waving is gay. real men just nod their head.
>>28853365I have not seen any of those but I will add them to the list>>28853367Yeah, I like the idea of cheaper premiums on a smaller bike to at least figure out if I will even enjoy riding a motorcycle. I am leaning R3 right now purely based off looks.
>>28853373I would wave back but nobody waves at me when I'm on my scooter.and I'm not gonna instigate a wave, that harley boomer probably doesn't think I'm the nicest people just cuz I'm on my honda

>>28853337Get the triumph or a naked bike. It will actually teach you how to ride and later you can specialised into what you want.

Thats counter steer speeds still and you should be going slower if you needed to lean that hard in that kinda space. The only bike I have been able to lean in and figure 8 below 20mph was a grom(passed msf like that).

There is an acess panel for the valve cover which many other scooters make it big enough to make valve adjuatments. But Kymco? Noooooo. You have to remove half of the plastics just to get at the floorboard so you can finally have space to remove the valve cover. Even scooter guys cannot escape the engineer menace.

It passed MOT (annual inspection) for the previous 18 years with this speedo but suddenly it was a "major fail" that made it unsafe, the fucking twats Quick check on ebay and all these speedos are fetching £50-£200+ so id rather not rip it apart and risk wrecking it Might just stick the 36k speedo on and call it a day, it will save a lot of fucking around, original speedo died at 25k and ive put around 2k+ on it since then Any idea on how much a garage would charge to roll back the mileage?
