Some of my top choices for under $50k:
>V8 Vantage (4.3L) with a manual transmission and 11k miles for $39k or a DB9 for $30k (Automatic, not sure on manual prices)
Lotus Evora (MT) at 45k miles for $31k
>Ja-gay F-type (MT), 45k miles, $30k - seems better to spend $9k more for the vantage
Megane RS (MT), 71k miles, $6500 - FWD but otherwise fun & cheap French shitbox
>Audi R8 (Automatic), v8, 29k miles, $42k
Giulia Quadrifoglio (AT), 33k miles, $29k - I haven't seen an MT listed in awhile, but those go for around $50k here
I want the aston because I like how it looks and it would be great for longer drives, but I also do a lot of mountain driving where a lotus should excel. An A110 would probably be the best fit for my driving (mix of hooning on mountain roads + daily driving on narrow streets), but it's AT only and still depreciating hard (down to $34k now, used to be like $45k minimum last year).
What would /o/ pick? Porsches are out, because they're all relatively expensive here, even the melted egg 911s.

Get a Camaro. In a place like Japan with super curvy roads, a Camaro will more exciting than any of those.

I bet it will be exciting when it plows into a tree on the first mild corner.

Nothing screams handling on tight bends like a lap time on a course with only wide sweepers that rewards power and taller gearing.

you're mentally ill but I'll humor you. There is one (1) ZL1 for sale in Japan and it's $40k. For that money I could get a much faster car like a Nissan GT-R (16 seconds faster at the nurburgring), BMW M4 (only $20k and 6 seconds faster at Tsukuba, wow), etc. I'm not after fastest burgerking times though; as you may know, Willow Springs is not in Japan.

Wrong image, but still funny considering the gtr has more power.

I live a long way away in the South Pacific, but I'll donate my ¥2 worth. Posted in order of how much I like the idea.
Megane RS, cheap and fun, ideal as an only car.
Vantage, very cool, you'll need some James Bond suits to match.
Alpine, small sportscar for tall people
F-Type, good all round large sports car
Alfa sedan, seems the odd one out, I like them, would be practical.
Evora, great to drive, but not so good when you're not in the mood.
R8, almost a supercar but I personally wouldn't want a VAG car.
Good luck with search.

Weird how all the Camaro laps are by a professional race car driver while the GT-R laps are done by amateurs:
Camaro
>At the big track at Willow Springs Raceway, we had Randy lap a SS 1LE
GT-R:
>July 2015 Issue, driven by Motortrend journalists

Odd... when Randy drives the GT-R vs his favorite GM cars, it's still 5 seconds faster than when a journalist drives it.

You realize all cars tested by motor trend are driven by randy, right. He is their only test driver. There are no amateurs. Unlike best motoring, who have guys who can’t shift or brake properly thrown into the non Japanese cars so the Japanese ones can win. We saw what happened when an American driver drove on Tsukuba for the first time at time attack. He cucked everyone who showed up whilst barely knowing the track himself.
>the gtr is faster in a straight line
I agree. Which is why the Camaro is better for twisty roads like those in Japan. You’ll have much more fun in it.

Odd, in 5 seconds I found a random guy running 4 seconds faster than Randy at Laguna Seca in an R-35. His comments:
>2nd time at Laguna Seca. Awesome track.
>Been a bit inconsistent due to the unfamiliarity and none stop boost pipe disconnecting issues.
Odd how he can be that much faster than randy is in a non-GM car.

>150k nismo because the 100k gtr can’t compete with the 45k Camaro.
>this is his gacha
>it’s still slower than the zl1 1le (that is still half the price)
Lol

>GT-R is faster than the Camaro
>Nismo GT-R is even faster than the Camaro
>"muh, muh price-to-performance ratio!"

>>
>>28853587
It’s slower than the zl1 1le, so it isn’t faster than the Camaro.
>>
>>28853359
because you'll be paying half the car's KBB every year in taxes.
