Looking for a car that fits this criteria since I need one to commute to uni>Fun to drive>won't rape my wallet with expenses>good gas mileage >reliable enough to be able to beat on it once in a while>good power (only preformance mods I'm willing to do are bolt ons and thats if it's gonna make significant gains)>comfortable enough for a 20-30 minute commute every day>sedan or at the very least decent rear seats>good amount of trunk space>able to be drivable in a ny winter meaning lots of snow>easy to work on yourself >good looking
>>28862953Lower your expectations
>>28862953BMW or Infiniti G3x
Base model Subaru Legacy.
>>28862953Manual Honda fit
>>28862953Ls4xx
Škoda 120
>>28862973Don't even think OP can get one since he lives in NY
can I offer you an Egg in this trying time?>Fun to driveget a manual, some models offered an auto but get a manual. if you're in college it's the time to learn if you haven't yet, and it is the gateway to an unburdened car selection>won't rape my walletdon't get a clapped out bucket, they show up on BaT/Doug N' Bids all the time. actually carsandbids has one of each live right now. Fiesta STs and Mazdaspeed 3s can be had for under $10k. A Focus ST runs a bit higher>good gas mileagewhat's "good"? these average over 20mpg and up to high 20s if you drive normally, under 20 when hooning. but that's pretty normal>beat on it once in a whilethey're built for it>good powerthere will always be a faster car but these aren't lazy>comfortable enoughunless ruined by a previous owner's mods (shit suspension, shit clutch) they're fine. I've known people to fly across the country and drive them back home>decent rear seatsyou'll have to judge that in-person. Fiesta ST is tiny, but the Mazdaspeed 3 isn't that bad. Focus ST has more space>good amount of trunk spaceneed more info but a hatch makes good use of the space especially with the rear seats folded down>driveable in ny winterFWD with winter tires does great. get a car with AWD later>easy to work on yourselfthey're transverse 4cyl, shared parts catalogs with other models>good lookingokay hold up a minute bub you need to have realistic expectations
>>28862953 Grand Marquis>22mpg>endless performance mods for 4.6>massive trunk, tons of back seat space>fun to slide around and beat on>plenty capable in the snow with decent tires>very reliable>very comfortable>looks classy if it isn't clapped out >bench seat for road head from college slutsOr a Marauder if you've got some extra cash
>>28862953literally nothing fulfills that criteria
>>28863003I second the egg recommendation
>>28863003Would a mk6-mk7 golf be a good choice?
>>28863249No, what you want is a bmw, lexus, infiniti, or american. Maybe an older awd volvo or awd acura.
>>28863260Any specific examples I should look for?
>>28863268Bmw e90, infiniti G, lexus is/gs, dodge charger/300c, ford crown vic and derivs, volvo s60/v70/xc70/xc90
>>28863280you need to do independent research no matter which car you opt for. For example the steering racks in volvos go bad and the aisin transmissions start shifting rough at high mileage
>>28863249sure. I have a friend with a MK7 GTI who loves it. He also lives in a dense-ass city, and it was really easy to maneuver and street park. I thought the plaid seats were cute. >>28863260I'm not saying that none of those are good, but they warrant a higher up front spend to get a nice example and have higher long-term running costs. I had no need for a luxosedan in college and didn't know anyone else who did
>>288632912000s volkswagens have luxury car upkeep without the amenitiescrappy overpriced cars in my view
>>28863301they do?I always figured vw were cheap to maintain because they all share parts together and are produced in millions of units
>>28863318They're german so naturally they'll be u reliable and expensive to maintain
>>28863321there's a big difference between vagshit and good german cars
>>28862953Get a beamer with a 2014 +n55
>>28863006No way that things getting 22mpg and that'll cost alot for a college student to fill up
>>28862953Just buy that g37 stop being scared
>>28862953Forgot to mention I want a good sound system >>28863477Don't those get horrible city mpg
>>28862953people like you never end up buying anything go suck a dick
>>28863566based knowerOP should fucking neck himself the proddy bastard
>>28863575>>comfortable enough for a 20-30 minute commute every daythis part genuinely got a chuckle out of me
>>28863321"Expensive to maintain" is to say "actually doing maintenance"EA888 is reliable so long as you change the oil
>>28862953>fast>reliable>cheappick two.Your expectations are way too high, you basically are saying you want a sports car that doesnt break down and if it does its cheap to fix, but it also needs to be a comfortable and practical commuter car, and it needs to be cheap. If there was a fast, cheap, practical, reliable car it would be the bestselling vehicle in the world.
>>28864281Fast and cheap honestly
>>28864259In what intervals should I replace the oil
>>288646425-6k is my personal recommendation You can do it sooner if you'd like. It never hurtsBut I would say 5k optimal, don't go beyond 6
>>28862953V6 Accord or V6 Camry and fuck every single response to you that isn't a V6 Honda or Toyota. Don't listen to them, listen to me.
>>28864637>Fast and cheapDon't do it
>>28864259>cooling system shits self
>>28864715v6 camry with a 5 speed is surprisingly quick
>>28865112If only you could find any anymore
>>28863280recommending an e90 in the same breath as a crown vic should be all the indication you need to not take this anon seriously
>>28862953C7/C7.5 chassis for Audi A6 or A7, with the 3.0 V6. Try to get one with water pump and engine mounts already done. 2016-2018 models have a revised engine that people argue is better since it gets better MPG, more power, and is less prone to carbon buildup but I've heard complaints regarding oil consumption and supercharger clutch issues. C6 Audi A6 is also nice too but the styling is up to personal preference. That chassis also got released as a wagon here but it's hard to find a good example nowadays
>>28865102Don't listen to this guy op buy that n54

>>28866277you're stupidthe difference is that one is a compact and the other is a full-sizeboth fulfill OPs requirements

>>28862953Just get a hyundai Genesis awd both the 3.8 v6 and the 5.0 v8 are able to take 87 octane gas if the price difference is that large in your area that's more than worth it
>>28864281>>28866287This. It's always this.
>>28866287Isn't it ironic that you can instead get a car that is none of the 3 simultaneously?
>>28862953Tesla Model 3
>>28865677>C7/C7.5 chassis for Audi A6 or A7, with the 3.0 V6Recommending those to student is trump tier evil. Had A5 of that era, you need job to support one of those as daily car.
>>28864259>EA888 is reliable so long as you change the oilNever leave town w/o at least two spare coil packs.
>>28862953>Good gas mileage>only performance mods I'm willing to do are bolt onsNice LARP
>>28865650nigga just convert it to manual
>>28868174The a6 and a7 got better more reliable versions of the 3.0t than the s4 and s5 for some reason
