Not really, plus I'd rather pay for gas than repairs.

Agreed! I don't regret it for a second. The build quality is legit.

not bad op.
those are the last years before all the screens and nanny bullshit completely took over.
you can do a lot with those suvs

as a reminder, the first things you wanna do is flush ALL the fluids. engine, transmission, diff, brake fluid, etc/
send your motor oil out for analysis.
get a magnetic oil plug
pull plugs, replace all filters, engine, cabin, consider fuel filter too
get a dash cam, seat gap fillers, and any missing accessories such as rubber floor mats, cargo nets, etc
make sure your insurance has comprehensive and see how much collision is, it shouldnt be much on a 10 year old truck.
being at 100k, do a full inspection. check the owners manuals and see what major components need or should have been replaced by then
enjoy

yes to the fluid flush
get 13 quarts of pic related, yes they're $10 or $12 apiece, just do it
take off the upper atf line from the radiator, hook it to 4 feet of clear vinyl tube running down to a milk jug marked with lines for every quart
start the engine and watch the jug fill up, stop it at 3 quarts
gravity feed 3 quarts of fresh fluid into the radiator port of the line you unhooked, it takes a few minutes
empty out the milk jug of old fluid while you wait
now start the engine and stop it when the milk jug has 2 quarts of old fluid
gravity feed two fresh quarts in
do that 4 more times
now you have fresh transmission fluid that will last another 100k

Bronze te37s with bfg all terrain ko3's, roof rack with a rooftop tent and 270 degree awning, laser cut molle panels for inside the rear windows, aftermarket rear bumper with external spare tire carrier.

Yeah, paying the Toyota tax like a shmuck. Until the market corrects for them not being three heads and shoulders more better than the rest it won't make sense to buy used 'yotas.

>>28866936
Even for a 2WD that's a good price. Lucky OP.
>>
>>28865429
do not do this
>>
>>28864938
Lol no. I did a 600 mile trip in my 2011 with 259k miles and I averaged 19.7 mpg. Your average F250 is gonna have a suck-ass axle ratio and get probably 12 mpg if gas engine, maybe 14 mpg if diesel.
>>28865401
>fuel filter too
Fuel filter is the sock attached to fuel pump, not easily replaceable.
>>28865429
Don't do this, drain and drop the pan on a cold transmission, replace filter, measure and pump back in what you drained out. Everyone tries to complicate the shit out of this. Keep it simple.
>>
>>28868904
nigga every japanese v6 i've driven has worse mpg stock than my 5.7 with wheel spacers and a straight pipe
>>28864947
>I'd rather pay for gas than repairs.
if you do regular maintenance and dont beat your car like a retard your shit wont break. toyotas are made for retards who dont do even do oil changes after the dealership free oil change dealership shit drys up thus giving it a more reliable reputation. the trade off for this is their engines are inefficient and weak and their interiors are the worst in the game.
>>
I cant decide between a used 5th gen or a new frontier. help me plz
>>
>>28868904
how is unhooking one hose and then reconnecting it harder than dropping a pan which doesn't need to be dropped and changing a filter that doesn't need to be changed? How many gaskets will you be buying today sir or madam? Furthermore dropping the pan doesn't change the ~3 quarts contained in the torque converter, while using the engine to pump old fluid out does, not to mention whatever fluid is trapped in the valve body and internal passages. You might get half of the old fluid out by dropping the pan.

this is for a 4th gen but all 5th gen 4runners have the same A750F transmission. It's a long ass thread so whatever your dumb argument is it's probably in there. This works, and it works great, as long as you put in the same amount of fluid you take out. If you put in about a third of a quart too much it makes the transmission stay in gear a little longer before shifting, which I've found I prefer.
