What do you guys think about the s15?
>>
>>28866298
what is there to think about? It's not like we can afford it. We will be driving 20 year old bmws until the communists put us in pods
>>
>>28866298
Overated shit for teens and kids in their 20s
>>
A 4 cylinder camaro will handle much better, but if you don't care about driving and just want the instagram street cred, this is the car for you. it is a car for posers who don't really care about driving.
>>
Look great, good to drive by all accounts but are so overpriced now due to JDM tax and all the ones lost to Drifting. No point in buying one unless you really have to have one just for being and S15 and money isnan issue
>>
>>28866298
>not as chill looking as zenki s14
>not as popular as 350z
I don't see the appeal
>>
>>28866342
You can't drift a Camaro
>>
>>28866357
The lightest 350 offered weighs the same as the heaviest S15 offered
The 350z is too fat
>>
>>28866359
you can't drift an S15, either. why do you think so many of them got wrecked?

can't turn.

Neat car. I can see why jap teens thrashed most of these to death as once you sit in it for more than 15 minutes you realize it's still a Nissan brand shitbox. Can't really compare it much anything else nowadays other than "loose" frs/brz with a usable engine
>>
>I can't wait to see what S16 will be like
Naive fools said in the early 2000s

Drove one last year, Spec R. Enjoyable car, but nothing magical. Didn’t push her too hard since it was a rental and also trans wasn’t great likely from being beaten on.

Awesome for what it is, but for the prices you’d better love the car as it is and not for any kind of performance metric. Interior is Nissan barebones.

Opening it up coming out of turns you can tell it wanted to drift with some tire squeal. Used to my SW20 which you can punch it out of turns all day and get lots of grip, was surprised with how easily I found the grip limit on it. Guess that’s why it’s a drift car.

cute mustang.
>>
>>28866298
No point at these prices, just get a BRZ + a turbo kit
>>
>>28866298
Extremely overpriced
>>
>>28866357
Well 350Zs are pig ugly, sound like trash, and have an even worse looking interior than S15s, so I definitely see the appeal. That said, I wouldn't pay a third what a decent S15 goes for these days for one, they are more memecartaxed than Supras or E30 M3s.
>>
>>28866298
I really like how they drive, how they look, and they drift well (duh), but an rx8 is basically the exact same car for way less money.
>was surprised with how easily I found the grip limit on it. Guess that’s why it’s a drift car.
this was my experience as well. Very predictable, doesn't spin crazy fast, so it's a good way to learn. But my Giulia also does that and is way cheaper & newer (also comes in a turbo manual).
>>

>memecartaxed than Supras or E30 M3s.

you can get into a spec-s for $17-24k still

you're not doing that with any e30 m3 or mkiv supra even

the real problem is sr20dets getting expensive too
>>
>>28866745
No, of course not. Supras are nice though, and a better performer, so you're actually getting something for the $60k. And E30 M3s are way nicer than an S15 and have muh heritage so they'll hold that value.
>$17-24k
I just looked at carfromjapan to check this since there are none on BAT or doug and bids and I saw one riced out, repainted turbo model with an obviously tweaked front end for under $24k. The rest were NA and I didn't spend any more time looking at them than to see if there was an engine bay pic.

It's just too much for a crappy nissan. They're better looking than a 350Z but I am not spending nice FD money to get a nice S15, and judging by what I saw just now, you're gonna pay $30k+ to get anything worth buying which puts it in FD territory.

here's a spec s for $14,500 (repair history = Yes of course)
https://www.goo-net.com/usedcar/spread/goo/15/700020625930251024001.html
>$18.5k for a Spec R S15 (there HAS to be something majorly wrong with this car...)
https://www.goo-net.com/usedcar/spread/goo/15/700060076630220922002.html
Typically I would subtract $2-3k from goo-net prices if you're patient and buying at auction.
I would definitely go for an FD over an S15 from a performance perspective (I've owned a 180sx, 240sx, and now multiple FDs and the FD is on a totally different level of performance), but it's definitely more of a headache to own.
However, if I just wanted a cheap shitbox to drift I'd prefer a silvia, but high prices kill that idea. The S-chassis IMO doesn't provide as much of a unique experience and is easier to replace with other cars (when I went from a 180sx and then 240sx to an rx-8 I was surprised by how similar they behaved, except the RX-8 has no tuning potential but a better suspension setup). That said, prices across the board seem to be falling in japan on cars, so maybe you can find a deal.
>>
S15s aren't /really/ overpriced, but they still arent cheap. Even around 2010s they were fairly expensive compared to the s13/s14.
Around 30k-35k (in Australia, so like 20k usd) for a clean one, which is proportional to how theyve always been priced against previous generations. Dreamers trying to sell theirs for 45k+ which is crazy because that's almost R32 GTR territory but they don't ever seem to sell.

But its also the final generation of the Silvia. Nissan's last small rwd turbo coupe.

Not worth posting these. Junk that was repaired and the repairs failed shaken and that's why it is being exported. In other words, beyond economical repair (nobody wants it).

t. imported cars before and looked at them in person in Japan too.
>>
>>28866372
Silvias in general are TOP tier drift cars, why are you being contrarian? (Of course pro drift cars have aftermarket parts)
>>
>>28866298
too expensive now but was a bargain 20+ years ago
>>
>>28866298
These Silvia cars are probably one of the most consistently molested cars ever. I wish I could have an S14, like the looks of those slightly more.
>>
>>28866786
Do NOT buy the cheapest cars listed on the nip export sites. If they were cheap and worth buying they would not be exporting the car, someone there would want it.
