For any young anons here, what always happens when oil prices spike is that gas guzzlers drop a ton in price.
Same thing with sports cars during recessions.
We're not entering a situation where both scenarios are true, so gas guzzling sports cars will become dirt cheap.
However, when you do the math, typically the price difference between a v8 sports car vs a more fuel efficient vehicle doesn't justify spending more on the shitbox or getting rid of your sports car (if you already own one).
>tldr; as long as you aren't driving a lot every day for work, fast sports cars are about to get really cheap, buy them when they drop.
>>
Example of what I'm talking about:
>Assumptions
Gas guzzler gets 15 mpg (v12)
Fuel-efficient shitbox gets 30 mpg (shitbox sedan)
Annual miles: 12,000 (rough average for the US; Europe is 1/2 this, japan is 1/3rd this amount)
Gas price: say $4/gal vs. $8/gal (spike scenario)

>Fuel cost calculation
At $4/gal:
Guzzler: 12,000 / 15 = 800 gal $3,200
Shitbox: 12,000 / 30 = 400 gal $1,600
Shitbox Savings = $1,600/year in gas.
At $8/gal:
Guzzler: 800 gal $6,400
Shitbox: 400 gal $3,200
Shitbox Savings = $3,200/year in gas.

Another example: Buying a 2015 prius at 50mpg instead of a 2015 WRX at 24mpg only saves you ~$900/year at $3/gallon and ~13.5k miles/year, and I know which one I'd rather drive. In japan you'd be saving $300/year and in europe you'd be saving $1k/year (for average use-cases).

Hoping to score a deal on one of those new Ram Power Wagons.
Might even get cheaper once Trump figures out how to crack all that shitty nasty Venezuela crude.

dude that was a distraction. he's going to take over venezuela just like he was going to just take the gaza strip and make it full of 5 star hotels.

Wew lad, if this is real I might just be able to afford a v8 Mustang to crash

hopefully the owner of this cadillac i'm eyeing feels the squeeze
>>
I paid $1400 for gasoline last year. Big nothing burger.
>>
My 1500 runs on diesel and gets 30+ mpg on country roads

VM motori diesels are fantastic, very long lasting.
I have one on my sail boat.
Nice to see stelantis started importing them to burgerland.

Holding out for a W126 560SEL rn. Problem is the owners all seem to be ancient boomers who have so much money they're insulated from the fallout of geopolitical happenings.

It won't happen again this time. The last time it happened people dumped their "gas guzzlers" for cheap only to buy them back for a lot more when the gas prices went back down. They'll just hold out and bitch about getting fucked at the pump.

>people will learn their lesson
yeah no

No they fucking do not.
Yes, some people lose their job, then a couple months later try to sell their [still] financed toys for sticker price, it sits there for 4 months, then when they're on the edge of bankruptcy take a few thousand off. People who have to sell their sports cars, gas guzzlers, and weekend toys when theres a recession have NEVER maintained the vehicle and refuse to think they can take a loss on it because if they do they're underwater on it.

The only people selling their 8mpg suburbans because they can't afford the extra $1 in gasoline prices are also the people buying a new $60,000 vehicle that gets 12mpg. Its a myth; people sell their expensive toys LAST and theres enough nerds out there willing ot pay top dollar for it because they prepared for a recession and aren't affected by it. Prices won't drop.

They're not going to get cheap unless gasoline hits $5+ a gallon and people start panic selling and buying hybrids/PHEVs/EVs.

This Iran thing has raises prices some but its a far cry from a 2008 tier crisis. $4 a gallon then is equal to $6.04 a gallon now.

I want you think about how bad that would be for the average joe, $6 a gallon with diesel at $7+ a gallon. Yeah people would panic sell, but we are so far from that point right now.

This is a great post. Switching up from your V8 Suburban to a 120k mile shitbox isn't something that'll happen, but even if you did saving $1000-2000 per year ($3.50/gal gas now) won't help you if you simply couldn't afford your gas guzzler. You're broke and stupid for buying that car in the first place.

Just bought a 560sec. It's bretty nice. Under $10k too, which is fairly uncommon. Got the AC working, now time to address whatever vacuum leak is plaguing the car. Your trunk will probably leak. Brake light seals.

Also there will probably be rust under the rear windshield rubber, check there

Insurance on older guzzling hoon cars isn't too bad either, may be savings there.
I've got 4 cars insured with 100k/300k coverage for like $380 a month.
People that buy new cars to save money on gas are hilariously retarded
