I see a lot of people saying the Impreza hatch is not worth the money because it's their cheapest option, and that you should go with a Crosstrek instead.
I'm not currently looking to buy right now, but I am interested in a modern hatch and the 2016-2019 Impreza has my interest. (among other cars, I am not dead set on Subaru)
Is the Crosstrek hype a US thing? I don't see the point in needing an SUV really, some of them don't offer a whole lot of cargo space vs. a hatchback.
>>
I like big trucks and SUVs, and sports cars. If a car is gonna be multirole, multi purpose, it better handle anything I'll need in the next 10-15 years. No, going from a compact economy sedan to a compact economy miniSUV isn't life changing. Maybe it's easier for some to throw a stroller and car seat in the back

In the US we opt for Pilots, Highlander, Tahoe or Expeditions. At least Americans that matter. Fuck off with these hoopty clown cars.
>>
The crosstrek is an impreza wagon. '90s 'til 2012 it was the "outback sport" trim of the impreza and the newer ones are still just lifted imprezas under another name.
>>
It's insane how shitty and gay everything has become compared to what they used to be.

Lol I think a pickup truck is great but I'm not hauling wood. I think sedans are too small but I don't want something big and clunky for no good reason.
>>28867745
Good to know. I like station wagons.
>>28867746
I think the 2020-onward Subarus look even worse.
>>

I sometimes forget the Impreza even exists at least here in Canada. The fact that they sold 3200 of them last year probably explains that. I would imagine they're super unpopular in the US too. The Crosstrek or Outback are just better. I really hope you're not implying a Crosstrek is an SUV...
>>
My brother has an Impreza hatch and it's my least favorite car to drive out of all the cars in my family. The transmission just feels so off
>>
crosstrek is great, the extra clearance is fantastic for bad roads/bad weather.

>I would imagine they're super unpopular in the US too.
Not really. I see a lot of Subarus on the road and I would say the Outback (mid 90s models to today) are the most common by far.
However I do see Imprezas often enough, it's a 50-50 with the regular and WRX models.
>I really hope you're not implying a Crosstrek is an SUV...
Unfortunately I kinda assumed it was because of the body size. It's comparable to an SUV in size and length.

Model year?

Luckily, I'm not completely invested in either so I'll keep scoping around. 4WD is not super important for me either.
I just wanted to know what exactly makes the Crosstrek significantly better than a Impreza hatch would be in comparison, preferably from someone who isn't a diehard Subaru fanatic..

It's not even comparable to a fucking Outback. A Crosstrek is just a tiny hatchback. What planet are you from?
>>
>>28867745
wasnt it the legacy outback?
>>
>>28867962
I had an Impreza outback sport, I know it became the Crosstrek. So no - Legacy would have a longer wheelbase.
>>

I have an Outback and he has an Impreza. Pretty sure both are 4 cylinders and both bought from quality dealers. My Outback can hold 45mph on a regular road but his Impreza just fucking jerks around between gears if you try to hold that speed, which is a pretty normal speed limit on surface streets. I think his Impreza is a 2015 and my Outback is a 2013

"Cross" is literally in the name. It's a crossover, not an SUV or Sedan.
>>
>>28867740
They're essentially the same car. The Crosstrek is a tad bigger, but not in a way that improves the interior space noticeably. The only real change you'd notice is the Trek being a little more annoying to park. I'd opt for the Impreza personally
>>
>>28867740
They're pretty much the same car, only difference is the bigger tires and raised up suspension.

The popularity of the Crosstrek is very manufactured. It's not only the cheapest Subaru offering (aside from the Impreza) but it's also one that they offer the best deals on. Brand new Crosstreks start at 25K-ish and up, and they get financing deals at 0.9%. for 5-6 years, unlike most of their new deals on Foresters or Outbacks being limited to 36 months.

What this does is make it incredibly easy for salesmen to talk people into a new Crosstrek, when the average used car loan is like 6-7% it's very easy to convince the guy or gal coming over to look at the 5 year old used model with 80K+ miles of whatever they have on the lot into a new Crosstrek since the prices end up being very close.

Honda CRV's are, or at least were, just Honda Accords with a larger chassis

faggot

I have a 2017 with 115k miles.
Wheel bearings died.
All suspension is shot
Occasional camshaft sensor issue.
Other than that it allows me to do faggy gay shit like drive to work and bring my bicycles/kayaks to the lake with the wife for cheap.
