How do non-enthusiasts decide what car to buy?
>>28869036They buy the car that matches the colour of their dildo
I bought the best car that I could afford (30k) that had the best tech and ADAS features. It drives itself on the highway and has lots of power/comfort features most of which I use that make driving and parking easier. Like most people I want room for stuff but I also drive on shitty dirt roads so I wanted a compact crossover. They are a good size - doesn't feel like driving a boat, easy to park, but can still fit a good amount of stuff.
>>28869036Safety. Can it fit my pram in it. Can it fit my snotnosed kids in it. Oohhh I like that colour, oooh apple car play. Ooooh RGB alienware gamer pc lights in the doors. OOooooh fake a$$ plasticshit 'leather' interior. Woah le heckin mercedes badge, that must mean its 'premium', and other moms at the school will think I am rich (buys Mercedes eggshit GLA rebadged niggsan or audi rebadged VW)
>>28869036They settle for whatever's on the lot because it's their day off and they have to make it back to work tomorrow and it's already getting late
>>28869036My twin sister said she likes cars that are "Cute"So take that as you will
This is now a Kia Sportage appreciation thread.
Space, fuel economy (it never really adds up within a class, but they still treat a couple of mpg difference as some major event), comfort, and does it frustrate them in the 10-15 minutes they actually sit in it before committing to a multi year loan
>>28869064i wish i had a twin sister
>>28869036in 2026? whatever tiktok tells them to

warranty unironically believing a dealer wont void it 100% of the time and how new it is.
>>28869036They walk into a Kia or Hyundai dealership and buy what the salesman tells them to get.
>>28869036They buy the white one.
>>28869036Fuel consumption and cargo space.
>>28869036Whatever the fuck looks nicest and can fit the payment into their month to month lifestyle
>>28869045>drive on shitty dirt roads>compact crossover
>>28869036wait is that nassim taleb and his boyfriend?
I get what I need. When I used to commute a simple Honda or Toyota sedan was fine. Now I move a lot so I got an SUV to move my stuff.

>>28869036From experience, it's either "I like the way it looks", or they just assume if a car is good for them based on their pre conceived notions of the badge on the front. One of my lady friends bought a W176 A180d because it "looked good", despite it being fucking horrible to drive and impossible to see out of, and the nerdy IT-type husband of my other lady friend bought an F20 116d because it's a BMW (i.e. somewhat professional in the eyes of normies), despite it being barely a trim about poverty spec and way too expensive.
>>28870686yeah its a hatchback with a lift kitthats what the crossover part meanswhat do you think the lift kit is for?if i stayed on paved roads I would have gotten a sedan

>>28871156>hatchback with a lift kitlollmaoI barely has any more clearance than a normal hatchback
>>28869036im under the impression that they just go to a car lot and then they have a salesman show them whatever. like i assume the buyers dont even know what they want just "new car" and they need to be shown things.
>>28871188it has 3 inches of ground clearance over a K4 hatch genuinely useful on a rough dirt roadt. has taken his Kia on rough dirt roads
