anyone ever do a brake booster delete? sick of nanny state technology bullshit getting between me and the road.
Nah but when I buy a new car I immediately perform a Stage 5 seat belt delete with a Stanley knife
The absolute state of this board.
>>28869348I have a car without a booster. It didn't fit under the frame so I just go directly to a wilwood master.Unless you are geriatric, diabetic, or female, you don't need it really. It should absolutely be mandatory as most drivers are geriatric, diabetic, or female.
Its the same idea as LARPing about that you can outbrake the ABS. Its the pre requisite Lmao
>>28869348no but i have a few times, both by accident and on purpose, done a full brake delete on cars, bikes and snowmobiles. even if you know it its scary af, you think you can handle it, just use e brake or gear braking, no... when it happends unexpected its holyfuck and religious. whatever you choose to do make shure it just works.
With big enough calipers you don't need a booster, they just rob you of a natural connection to your car. It's like fucking with a condom.
>>28869469Yeah like, is it possible to outbrake ABS? Yeah. But only a handful of drivers can actually do it and I doubt Ayrton Senna is driving a Camry.
Not a brake booster delete though somewhat related to it: the VW 2.5L engines have a shitty vacuum pump for the brake booster (because muh special snowflake german engineering) that is prone to failure so I'll probably have to delete the pump at some point on mine
>>28869348when i was a formula offroad mechanic the most common brake setup was>the most commonly available front disk setup that would fit whatever d60 or ford9 axle contraption you ran>often these where 2 layer and wented, we machined off the outer layer leaving just one>volvo 850 rear calipers on all 4>biggest, baddest non boosted main cylinder from summit.never seen one of these systems fail and spare parts where cheap and everywhere.
>>28869348You can delete power brakes. It's actually not very hard. Most older cars have kits available that Change pedal ratios and add mountsI like manual brakes, but I'm also /fit/>>28869469So I've actually tested this, and I can out brake the ABS slightly. But only on a perfectly smooth surface and in a perfectly straight line. Add steering angle and the ABS is world's ahead. After installing a motorsport grade ABS on my race car, I can tell you; that it's much much faster around a race track.
>>28869540Anon, larger brake pads don't increase braking torque. A lot of these larger brake calipers have the same piston area as a small ones do.
I like how giga potent my brakes feel. They actually are one of the few areas I have no issues with. t. proud Kia owner
>>28869348Just delete the brakes. Make it like a fixie bicycle.Need to stop? Just turn off the engine.
>>28869348You're confusing ABS with vacuum booster. You should do more research before trollposting or not be a fucking idiot.
>>28869348>if you havent figured out a way to strong arm your town to install a cable arrestor system at ever place you go youll never make it
I just cut the floor pans out of my cars and use my legs flintstones style to maximize my connection to the road
>>28869681ABS can distribute torque in ways your foot cant, which makes it better for anything in the lateral direction> no ABSwith your foot to the floor it will send the same pressure to all 4 wheels> ABSmight send less pressure to the inside wheels while sending more to the outside wheelsmost good ABS systems will activate sooner if steering or yaw is detected to help aid in steerability
>>28871517Race cars should have individual brake controls for all four wheels. You'd probably have to do it with paddles on the wheel or something.
You can outbrake an abs in certain conditions. And of course not all abs units are the same. Where the abs will always win is in the most important place - where you aren't prepared and have to slam the brakes NOW to avoid an accident.
>>28871702It's harder to out brake ABS than people portray it. There's not a simple point on the pedal, the threshold is constantly changing as speed, tire heat, and brake heat change. In one braking event the threshold can vary by a lot.One wheel hits a bump and loses traction? You've locked up that wheel. My car doesn't have ABS, but I wish it did. ABS is great, but when they add stability control to it I'd rather go without both.
>>28869469You can on snow and ice. You have to or you aren't going to remain in control of the vehicle. If you just stand on the brake like a mindless NPC in those conditions you are going to get rekt
You've never lived until you drive a 4 wheel drum brake, no booster, no power steering vehicle on 37" tires.
