I want a vehicle that
>is big like a truck
>difficult to park like a truck
>with shitty fuel economy like a truck
but without a bed.

Who the fuck even buys these things?
>>
>>28873426
Actually, a full-sized SUV is infinitely more practical as a personal vehicle. Put the seats down, you can fit a ton of stuff. Usually has 3 rows of seats, great for a family. Tows like a truck.

Honestly, most truck owners never use the bed anyway. So you may as well drop the LARP and get an SUV.
>>
Kia Telluride.
>>
>>28873426
>Who the fuck even buys these things?
people with large families.
>>
>>28873430
who are you people that constantly have a ton of shit to fit in their vehicle? what are you driving around with so often
>>
>>28873441
Tradesman. Tools. There's a whole stereotype.
>>
>>28873431
are a hairdresser with three mutt kids?
>>
>>28873426
>difficult to park like a truck
They have 15 fucking cameras and park themselves... Also large vehicles aren't automatically harder to park. Unless you have skill issues.

>with shitty fuel economy like a truck
They get 25-30mpg highway just like a truck. How is that shitty and why would somebody with a $100k vehicle care about fuel economy?

>>28873441
Hockey gear, groceries, baby strollers, pets such as large dogs???
>>
>>28873444
>Tradesman. Tools. There's a whole stereotype.
Why don't they get a work van? Infinitely more practical.
>>
>>28873444
Those people buy trucks, no tradesman is driving around in an expedition with the seats folded down
>>
>>28873466
Kia Carnival. Honestly the Carnival probably is roomier than the Telluride.

SUVs aren't as big as you think they are. An Expedition is significantly smaller than a truck. And they still have just as much passenger space plus the ability to house a 3rd row.
To really put things into perspective, an Expedition is closer in length to an Accord than an F150.
16.3ft > 17.5ft > 19.3ft
>>
>>28873502
I wouldn't call them not that big just because they're the same size as a half ton which is a massive vehicle even by American standards. Even midsized SUV's like the Expedition and the Tahoe are big vehicles and their bigger siblings like the Expedition Max and the Suburban are modern land yachts. Any half ton or half ton sized SUV is going to make a Rolls Royce disappear when you park beside to put things into prespective.
>>
>>28873426
>Who the fuck even buys these things?

It's mainly families. People who have 2 or more kids but also want a vehicle large enough to transport all of their luggage and/or additional passengers when necessary.

Like, even if you just have 2 kids you take to school, maybe you carpool and routinely pick up 3 or 4 more. Can't really do that in any other kind of vehicle besides a minivan, and those are objectively gay plus they can't go off-road
>>
>>28873516
Almost no one buys LWB SUVs though.
>>
>>28873533
Bullshit they don't. I see a shitload of Suburbans, Yukon XL's and Escalade ESV's. They sell over 100k of them a year. They're a quintessential part of the yuppie mom starter pack.
>>
>>28873430
the Expedition I had in my early 20s couldn't fit nearly as much as the dodge caravan my family had when I was a teenager

thats the short wheelbase, show it again with the long wheel base Expedition MAX.
>>

That's what people buy bro. If you want to play that game then I'll post the Expedition Max next to a cclb F250 instead.

My parents swear by their 2006 Sequoia. They still lament my sister wrecking it. They're a product of a different era when families actually went places together
>>

Is this some shitty engagement post?
Awesome for hauling people
Can sleep and fuck in the back
Carry way longer stuff than a truck
Carry way more inside than a truck

True Chád have both

>chads drive ugly fatbody minivans-in-all-but-name that make them look like fragile women who are scared of everyone else on the road

if you as a man drive an suv or new pickup basically everyone thinks you're gay. women, everyone who sees you behind the wheel of a navi or explorer thinks you're retarded and dangerous, unless you drive a subaru then you're retarded, dangerous, and gay.
the only acceptable suvs for men are station wagons with awd or fullsize conversion vans
the only acceptable suvs for women are [null]

drive a car.
>>
>I need the front to be 3 feet tall and completely vertical so seven children could be sat in front of it and I wouldn't see them
>>
no you DONT UNDERSTAND
i NEED to sit 7 feet off the ground so i can feel safe driving on perfectly smooth asphalt to my 9-5 office job after taking my ONLY CHILD to his brand new public school you just NEVER KNOW when a TERRORIST ATTACK wil happen and we'll need to drive up the weekly graded and regravelled logging trails to the federal government owned campsite for a week util it all blows over WHEW good thing i prepared for such an eventuality by buying a 4 row aircraft carrier!!
>>
>>28874088
Because, Hitler, a minivan is just as expensive these days, and an Expedition/Escalade/Tahoe doesn't turn every pussy in a ten block radius into the Sahara.
>>
>>28874322
Oh no, I hope some nigger from 4channel doesn't see me driving around with the three kids I pumped into my wife and think I'm gay! I don't know how my self respect would ever recover.
>>
>>28873426
Men and women who feel small but think they can buy themselves big
Same as trucks.
>>
>>28874628
while there are 3 row suvs* that cost the same as a minivan the 3 you listed cost 20-40k more.
and if making random women wet was the goal of your car maybe you should have said that in the original post instead of carrying around your family.
*crossovers
>>
>>28874642
I wasn't the poster you replied to, I was just giving reasons not to get a minivan. In addition to what I listed, minivans can't tow shit. If you've got a boat, or ATV, or for whatever reason a trailer, good luck hauling it on a road trip with the family in your Odyssey
>inb4 but you're not using it every day
Maybe not, but when I do need it, I don't want to rent some bullshit from Penske.

>oversized POS
>horrible fuel economy on most
>shitty turn radius on many
>not at all fun to drive if you're under 5'5
>massive blindspots on many which promote reliance on cameras and other tech
>you may sacrifice storage space (half the reason to buy this POS in theory), for a shitty 3rd row which could only fit a child.
>less utility for more cost than a soccer mom minivan
>if made within the last half decade, everything inside and out is cheap and plasticy, things will come up broken within the 1st year
>will turn grandma or the neighborhood kids into a tropical smoothie if you run over them
>impossible to parallel park in some areas
>will rape your wallet if everything works, will do it even more if ANYTHING breaks (DIYers need not apply)
why do women in particular love these things so much?
>>
>>28874662
Why wouldn't an Odyssey be able to tow an ATV?
>>
>>28874695
>why do women in particular love these things so much?
They can carry Aidynn, Brayden, Caighlynne, and their soccer teammates comfortably; they feel safe as a tank on the freeway in the likely event she crashes; it doesn't give women the ick like a minivan (maybe they just hate sliding doors?); it's (historically) more expensive than a van, so therefore better...
>>
>>28873920
Huh? That wasn't a question. You really think a modern full sized SUV gets 12mpg?

https://youtu.be/VEw9ti1xb2Y?t=593

>>28874708
Minivans have extremely soft springs in the back and no ground clearance. You would rip your hitch off before even reaching the trailhead.

got cocks and assfucking on the mind, huh
>>
>>28873426
They're for Catholics and Mormons with half a dozen kids.
>>
Give me one reason why a conversion van is not better than an SUV if you have more than two kids.
>>
>>28874790
It's going to be over $100k. It probably won't have AWD or 4x4. It won't fit in a underground parking garage. Vans are a meme in North America.
>>
>>28873426
>Need 4WD for hunting and boat ramp
>Need space for me, wife, two kids, and mother-in-law to go to church
>Gas prices are a poor people or blue state problem
>Need tow capacity for utility trailer or camper
>Can sleep in back comfy if doing overnight out shit and it’s cold
>Pilot seats make 3rd row access easy so I don’t have to move the car seats
>>
>>28873476
25-30 mpg is fucking atrocious fuel economy my good man. Anythingunder 40 is terrible and I have no idea why tradies aren't efficiency conscious because every dollar they burn is a dollar pulled directly out of their profit.
>>
>>28874882
You know it's still cheaper to drive a gas guzzling truck in America then it is to drive an economical truck in Europe, right? Sure you may get better fuel economy but you also need a license to carry a garbage bag.
>>
>>28874088
nta but SUVs are body-on-frame, greater towing capacity, 4WD
>>
>>28874882
Because it's diminishing returns bro. The difference between 20 and 30 is pretty big, that's $5 every 100 miles. But going to 40 is only 2.50. Above that is pointless. Going to 50mpg would only save an extra dollar.
>>
>>28875183
yeah fuel economy scales with driving more miles. pic related is 2k miles per year @ $3.50/gal. like $400 difference from a new prius and an old 4WD Sequoia or Tundra with the big engine options. $30/month for something infinitely safer and more practical. It's totally irrelevent.
>>
>>28875300
but at 20k miles, it becomes a ~$3-4k difference, or $250-333/month.
>>
>>28875302
$12,500 @5 years is $2,500 a year for 15mpg.
And those also an extreme examples you specifically chose.
Fullsize trucks were doing those numbers in the 80s.
A 2019 F150 has a city/highway average in the mid 20s.
If $80 a month makes a difference in your financial situation then you have other more serious issues and shouldnt be driving at all.

And youre also forgetting about insurance rates and registration prices.
Registration on an older vehicle in my state is a flat rate of 20 bucks. A new vehicle has a 7% ad valorem registration tax on the vehicles value.
EVs have an "alternative fuel" tax of $234.
So it would take well over a decade (probably more like 20 years) for the cost of a new vehicle to even break even with an older vehicle that has poorer fuel mileage.
>>
>>28874322
I truly have had the opposite lived experience. Women love big trucks
>>
>>28873426

>Anythingunder 40 is terrible and I have no idea why tradies aren't efficiency conscious because every dollar they burn is a dollar pulled directly out of their profit.
You're forgetting work expenses. Unless you live in a dogshit country that doesn't allow you to do this, you can use your work expenses to reduce your tax bill. And guess what? gas and mileage are work expenses.
>>
>>28873426

Understand the Amerimutt mindset. If it's bigger, than it's automatically better. This is how every single consumer purchase of their goes. BIG House, BIG Car, Big Wife means you made it for the average Amerimutt. They don't understand elegance. They're an inherently low IQ people dumbed down by an intense selective information feed.
