the mustang has mcdonalds struts up front, the new charger (not the ev one), has a multilink front (whatever that means exactly)

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a70577554/2026-dodge-charger-scat-pack-vs-ford-mustang-gt-comparison-test/
>>
I don't really mind mcdonalds really, but there's times when a double quarter pounder with cheese hits just right.
>>
>>28875425
for 70k I should be getting something better
the mustang is a shitty tiny-inside rental car with a nice engine used to scam boomers out of their hard earned cash

>but stellantis
yup its super disappointing since its basically a new engine and platform and still sucks

though as like a fancy luxury car for black people?
perfect
>>
New charger will forever be a cope chassis since being designed to accept the ev drivetrain they already ditched
>>
>>28875389
Ok. What are the track times?
>>
>>28875428
I'm here for the hamburgers my guy. I prefer burger king because their burgers are bigger and greasier. Plus their fries are better
>>
>>28875459
mustang is .8 seconds faster in the rolling start 5-60
charger weighs too much, not enough displacement
>>
>>28875453
i've heard there is a lot of space on the underside because of the batteries so it will be interesting to see them lowered, allegedly you can slam em till the pinch welds scrape and still clear everything underneath, which the lx-body cannot do.
>>
>>28875389
Multi-link is upgraded double wishbones.

Since 2006 the Charger and Challenger have always had double wishbones up front and multi-link in the rear. The new Charger now has multi-link front and rear.

ec fucking scuse me????????????
i can't even put that on the same jackstands as an lx body what the actual fuck
>>
>>28875475
so double wishies with another link as well I guess?
>>
>>28875475
to be totally fair the multilinks are just double bones but the a-arms are split into links, so while they have a fancy name, it's still functionally double wishbone all around. even in the front since 2006 the lower a-arm is composed of two joined links instead of a single cast wishbone.
>>
>>28875480
Essentially yes. Literally upgraded wishies.
>>
>>28875487
that sounds pretty good, can I get that on my Kia?
>>
>>28875493
Lol. Some models and trims of Kia's have multi-link rear like the Stinger but have maccas up front. Not sure if any have it in the front except the Kia Tasman truck.
>>
>>28875505
I have a multi link rear the front is the issue tbqh
tho i do feel like kia got the cheapest coils possible and it could be way better esp. reading reviews of off-road pickups and they always say the upgraded coils make for a comfier ride

hope the kia tasman comes to the us would be foolish not to
>>
>>28875510
>i do feel like kia got the cheapest coils possible
Well yeah, it's a Kia. It's cheap for a reason. If you're willing to do the work it's not a bad idea. Just don't kill yourself loosening the tension, video related:

I want to pay someone to do it but I don't know how to find someone who does that.
>>
>>28875518
Any mechanic can swap coils for you.
>>
>>28875468
That's... not a track time... and nothing to do with suspension which was the thread topic. Are you ok?

It's commonly found on Audis. I've replaced way too many ball joints for my years, this design traumatizes me. 2 ball joints on the top of the knuckle, 2 on the bottom, and 2 steering rack ball joints per side totals up to 12 ball joints on the front end. Puking emoji
>>
>>28875540
Nta but I guarantee the track times for the Charger are mediocre. It's a full size car, even bigger and 500lbs heavier than the outgoing Charger.
>>
>>28875535
is that all I need to do to fix the suspension tho?
and i dont want to fuck up any of the sensors or auto-drive settings
>>
>>28875550
You won't fuck up autodrive or anything, but keep in mind you might need to experiment with it a bit. There's no fixing the geometry. What kind of kia is it? Thicker rear sway bars can help out FWD cars a lot

sportage
>Thicker rear sway bars can help out FWD cars a lot
I know you said that last time and it has been stewing in my brain since
I wonder if it even has that - I was watching Sarah-n-tuned and she reviews the Mazda CX-30 and it has no rear one, just a front anti-sway bar.
>>
>>28875550
It's a Kia Sportage. Replacing the coils or even the struts can help, sure. But ultimately it was never engineered to be anything but an crossover econobox. If you want something super smooth or something sporty, you want a different car.

The CX-30 uses a beam rear end, meaning sway bars have much less effectiveness. Beam rear ends are generally inferior from a handling perspective, but good from a durability point of view
>>
>>28875568
I would humbly accept a 10-20% improvement in reduction of harshness of bumps, or less of that " you will steer off the road if you don't brake a lot before sudden turns" feel

I do not want a sports car, I do not want a firm ride.
>>
>>28875569
I had a VW jetta and then an audi A4 and I can't say I noticed a difference in handling, the jetta having a torsion beam rear and the a4 a multilink one.
>>
>>28875570
Softer springs would help the harshness. Only downside is potentially bottoming out on big impacts.
>you will steer off the road if you don't brake a lot before sudden turns" feel
That's just understeer. It's a FWD crossover, bud. Nothing you can do about that really. In fact making the suspension softer will make it worse because the softer suspension will allow more body roll and pull weight off the inside tire, reducing traction.

That feeling is influenced by the natural increased bodyroll of a crossover having a higher center of gravity. You can also get better, grippier tires for less understeer but it will still bodyroll.
>>
>>28875578
>Only downside is potentially bottoming out on big impacts.
it already does like it bottoms out for what I consider not even that big bumps unless you take it verrrrrry slow
like there's just not much travel or give to the springs is how i would describe it
>It's a FWD crossover, bud
1. it's AWD
2. the Audi never did that
>You can also get better, grippier tires for less understeer but it will still bodyroll.
oh no im stuck with all terrain tires tho for dirt roads
>>
Multilink can be better than wishies, but it requires serious math and multilink loses alignment quickly. You lower a car on multilink? You're screwing up tons of variables. Wishbones hold alignment better than other types by far.
I'm on all wishbones now but my last car had maccas front wishbones rear and it was very satisfying, that's actually a great combo but I'd have to autistically rant to explain why. Just trust me, it's got great turn-in and the rear wishbones keep it planted.
>>
>>28875583
>it already does like it bottoms out
What I mean by bottoming out is the suspension reaching it's movement limit and hitting the hard stop. Not the car itself bottoming out and scraping.
>It's AWD
Yeah AWD that sends 95% of the power to the front wheels by default. It does adjust based on slippage but not well.
>Audi
Audi is a more expensive, premium brand with a sports focus. They engineer their cars differently. They put more time, money and effort into driving dynamics.
>>
>>28875592
>95% to the front wheels
Most "AWD" systems are even worse than that. 100% FWD unless slip is detected.
You have to get a manual Subaru or high-trim Audi to get real AWD.

They have different names because they're physically different you turbo tard. Look at the multi-link for the W211 which was the basis of the LX cars. Notice how every part of the rear suspension is different, hence "multi link" because they're not 2 of the similar part like "double wishbones". You've been trying to force this meme this long and you don't even know what the fuck you're talking about.

honestly the system works fine there's a torque apportionment gauge and you can see it sends power to the rear if you goose it

You are glazing Audi.

>>28875601
It is real AWD. It works fine, genuinely. You don't need it wasting fuel constantly.
>>
>multilink front on a five fucking thousand pound vehicle
Oh god. The resale value is going to tank when people get told they need $4000 of repair at 80k miles.
