He could either give the car to someone from his family, or just sell it and pay for his kid's college or something. And if cops do have to take it, then it should go to an auction and proceedings should go to aid for drunk accident victims or some kind of anti-drunk driving campaign. Parading around confiscated property seems almost totalitarian to me.
