How come BMW can commit so hard to EVs and still generate billions in profits? I'm ready for that 900km range i3.

Hybrid platforms I guess. So you share the cost with ICE and can be more flexible. Their tech is pretty on point too.
>>
>>28875637
They're not whiny bitches about it. They've arguably invested the most in EV platforms out of all those but did it competently and can now reap the rewards.
>>
It's because they build SUVs in SC.
>>
>>28875635
They produce tech that works.
Compared to others their assisted driving systems are good, but not intrusive.
Their EV motor is one of the best in the market - externally excited synchronous AC drive that uses no rare earths (no availability and cost risk).

I get the feel BMW engineers and management are mostly geniune car lovers unlike most other companies. They seem to want to push their own limits rather than barely edging ahead of the competition. The fact their cars don't bong and bing at you for merely looking to the side is a clue to this.
>>
>>28875669
If so then why do they push more and more on making it impossible to work on their cars?
>>
>>28875675
Byproduct of pushing the envelope coupled with germoid autism.

The reason BMW is doing so well is mainly marketing and brand value. To the normgroid goycattle it's THE "luxury" brand you get to show others you made it (or pretend you did) so they all want one. Otherwise there's nothing substantially better about them and their modern designs look like rancid shit.

overall earnings are down 11.5% YoY.
revenue is down 6.3% YoY.
bmw brand sales figures are down 1.4% YoY.
profit margin was stable YoY due to cutting $2.5B from operating costs, and mini brand sales increasing.

When you build a car platform you can either build it for gas or electric. If you go for a hybrid you get the worst of both worlds. BMW decided they didn’t trust the EV market to exist and so went ALL IN on a hybrid platform. That means it sucks at everything. They’re huge heavy with giant floor space and all the shit for batteries terms of spacing and all the shit you need
for engines in terms of spacing. Basically they’re just huge hunks of steel and they’re using power to hide the bad dynamics.

But the plus side is they have one platform for the entire line up so dev costs are low for everything.

This is bad and good. It’s bad because all the cars are kind of the same and it’s good because all the cars are kind of the same and pretty good. 7 or 8 series is the best one btw.

8.9B euro in operating profit for 2025 reported a few days ago, what's your point.

I would buy this. Radical af.

>>28875958
Isn't VW multiple times bigger than BMW though? Regardless VW was just looking for a reason to lay 50,000 off while BMW is hiring and expanding.
>>
>>28875852
Of all the nu bmw vomit I've seen the past few years, this one is the only good looking one. Vertical grill stretched from fender to fender, but lights are integrated inside, very cool.
>>
>>28876155
Unfortunately the real i3 will be way more conservative in design.

Their prices are actually down on the EV front with the new platform. This, despite offering way better range and performance. The new iX3 really made the last year model obsolete fast.

Tesla, and GM are still making money, and that's despite GM making an EV rolls royce fighter and a bunch of BEV platforms for honda.

What?
"Geely" has almost the same market share as Hyundai/Kia?
I have never seen a Geely in the wild, or do they sell under other brand names, like Stellantis?

From the 3 series up BMW has double joint front axles (slightly improved McPherson) and a multilink real axles.

VA’s profit was down 44.6% YoY.

the car that engine (vr30) is installed to, the v37 chassis Q50/60, has double bones front and rear. so that's a knock against BMW the ultimate driving machine.

and? the q50 is a lease car. BMWs are "drivers cars" and still won't commit to double bones. that's the point I was making.
