Can anyone point me to a good doc or YouTube vid about the evolution of drag strip surfacing?

>>28877826The land speed record for driving in a building is held by an electric car.... I don't like this.
>>28877826OP here again, this is fascinating. Thanks again.
>>28877825The "bleach box" in the staging area used to actually use bleach to soften the tires. Now its just water.
>>28877830Lunar and Martian land speed records are also held by electrics.
>>28877850I know a bit about how the tires work, I'm looking into how the track surface evolved with them
>>28877853Well yeah, air breathing enginas won't work so good up there
>>28877854The tire IS the track surface. Its not just about having a sticky tire to grab the asphalt. The burnout leaves a layer of sticky tire ON the asphalt that the sticky tire on the car can adhere to.This is why lane conditions change over the course of the evening at the drag strip.Lane 1 might be hooking up beautifully but as too little or too much rubber is left behind it changes "stickiness" and lane 2 might be hooking better.
