riding a >500cc bike just ONCE will completely re-wire your brain into never giving a fuck about a car's """"""performance"""""" ever again
cars are not for "performance" or "driving feel" or whatever. they are for comfort and convenience, nothing more
>inb4 posting lap times
(you) don't own a car that can lap faster than the cheapest 4cyl literbike available for sale in your city, stop larping
>>
>>28879474
We talking top speed, 0-60, 1/4 mile, some other metric?
>>

Don't know, don't care. That goes for the other bikeniggers ITT too.
>>
>>28881867
I would also like to add the stipulation of it being a proper inline 4 cylinder engine not any of that parallel twin garbage or v4 nonsense

There are some real performance car but they're rare.
>>28881868
Any of that, although top speed of almost 170 mph, is probably the easiest to beat
>>28882034
I4 is simply losing to V4 nowadays
>>
>>28881867
Similar thing for taking a bike off road. I've become completely incapable of understanding how anyone can enjoy a jeep or any sort of 4 wheel off roading.
>>
>>28882034
Parallel twins are one thing, but to slander V4's is hilarious.

V4 engines are the best motorcycle engine configuration hands down.

And it's all thanks to Honda, without Honda the world would never have perfected the V4.
>>
>>28882139
yeah they're so good that only two brands make one
>>
>>28882211
>If it's rare then it's Ze Bad!
>Hurr durr only da 2 beunds maek dem zo et ez bad!

Why is EVERYONE worth a damn using V4 engines at the highest level of motorcycling? (Motogp)

You would never say a V12 is bad because only lambos and rarris rock them.

Quite amazing that someone decided to revive the thread after it got fpbp destroyed
>>
>>28879474
My slow as fuck shitboxes are still faster because a bike is only as fast as it's rider and the average squid has no riding skill what so ever. Most of them struggle to get their bikes off the line.

In a straight like e yes, but not a turn.

Only true if the bike is from Japan or Italy.

No BMW or KTM? Dumb
>>

One of them is, S1000RR.
>>
>>28883648
Forgot BMW built a copy of a Japanese bike.
KTM is eh, sorta gross.
>>
But is a golf cart (your vehicle) faster than a bicycle (used supersport)?
Come on I made a great fucking point there.

"Runs but needs work" is $14,000.
So I think Im good (?)

Pretty sure this guy had brain damage as a child and his parents just havent told him yet.
>>
I've mogged Altimas on a 1500 dollar Chinese dual sport with 13 horsepower as the light turns green. Crazy how powerful bikes can seem. I have this clapped out 2000s sports bike I got for 1200 dollars I mog Mustangs on, I got some wireless Bluetooth earphones listening to inital d and black guy music and imagine I look badass when im weaving in and out of lanes at 120 on the freeway
>>
You can't mog a driver on a bike because the driver can almost certainly afford a bike but you clearly can't afford a car if you're mentioning how cheap your bike is and that's why you ride it. I have an RX7 tuned to hit 190mph I spent 60 grand on and my buddy has a 2000s Hayabusa modded to hit over 200mph he got for like 10,000 dollars or some shit and he'll never mog me even if he can go faster because I can buy that piece of shit if I want. He can't afford my car. It's a choice i make to drive, its not a choice for him to ride his bike. He has his busa and his shit civic, I have the rx7 plus a hellcat and I can add a bike to the roster if I want.

They're not the best. They beat I4s in two edge cases and are otherwise overcomplicated.

>>28882228
>Why is EVERYONE worth a damn using V4 engines at the highest level of motorcycling? (Motogp)
Lmao you're such a midwit. The two edge cases are traction(crank is more compatible with big bang firing order) and aero/packaging(engine is physically narrower, advantageous concerning extreme lean angle and frontal area.

If they were better for power, they'd have taken over drag, roll racing, and land speed long ago. But it's still all busas and Kwikasfuckis.

For a street or track rider below the instructor level, neither of the advantages of a v4 factor at all, and you know it. V4s also sound kinda ass but I concede that's subjective.

>>28883636
This. Bikes are more agile through traffic and cities obviously, and are generally faster from like 25-130. They're notably worse on the brakes and in corners, even when comparing a mid driver in a mid car to an expert rider on a supersport.

I like both. Bikes have a higher skill floor and skill ceiling, and IMO are a lot more fun and engaging.
>>
>>28882211

>Cries about "complexity"
>Lies about what advantages a V4 actually gives you
>4 of the 5 companies in moto gp races a V4
>Not yamaha because they're too broke to RND one
>BBBBUT IT NOT USED ON THE DRAGSTRIP so it's not gud because I l only think of TOP SPEED and nothing else
>Shitposter knows of big bang firing order yet doesn't know of V4's torque advantages across the entire powerband in exchange for a tiny bit of top end loss
>The engine configuration was so good that even ducati kowtowed to it by not exclusively making twins
>For some reason considers he the lower bracket of riders not the average or even above average rider
>Somehow, I'm the midwit.
I guess I'd rather be perceived as a midwit than whatever you glue eaters praise

Properly offset (i know crank offset i3s are relatively rare and new) and balanced i3s are functionally superior to a v4 anyways.

Light dual sports are pretty quick off the line. My KLX300 has a pretty respectable 0-60 by normie car standards, about 7 sec. The problem is that it totally runs out of steam after that and can't keep up with freeway traffic.
>>
On a mountain road probably.
>>
>>28881867
Bikes aren't performant. They don't have enough tire. But you're probably from flyover ville where your idea of motorsports is two gear pulls on a highway.

The complexity of two heads versus one increases production cost and makes servicing more of a pain. That's stuff the user cares about.

Said torque advantages don't matter on high performance bikes. You're either hitting a wheelie or spinning the tire. They can't use any more torque. This may change as aerodynamics trickle their way down to street machines, but I doubt it, and currently it means fuck all, especially in the bottom half of the gearbox.

I'm talking about easily 95% of all motorcycle riders. That's more than the lower bracket of skill.

Half of ducati's appeal is exotic engineering, even better if it's visually striking. See: single sided swingarm, exposed trellis frame, dry clutch. Desmodromic valves are up there too, are autistic as fuck, and much like a v4, are simply not worth the squeeze for anybody who isn't sponsored to ride fast.

And if you actually knew what you were talking about, you'd know that Yamaha is running a V4 this year.

Fuck outta here, clown. Post bike. Here's my newest backroad fuckabouter.
>>
>>28884775
Nothing stops a properly designed offset-crank i3 from hitting 20k rpm same as an i4.
They use the same principle in electric motors, where offsetting multiple rows of magnets significantly reduces field-to-field "cogging" i.e. increased smoothness, better balance.
>>
>>28884836
The limit of bikes is their weight, really. No amount of tire width changes the limited adhesion from limited weight. If a human being could be made 3x stronger and a bike 3x heavier (with 3x the power) a motorcycle would be unbeatable, but, that isn't reality.

Nice post btw.

my shitbox accord with wide tires can out-corner all my bikes, i'd still rather ride a bike every time, the feeling is simply not comparable
i'm not looking to set a lap record at my local mountain pass (LMAO)
>>
>>28888915
If your bikes can't go through your local mountain pass faster than your fwd shitbox, you must have slow bikes
