Do they make reliable cars by now? I bought a Stellantis EV before I knew about their reputation. It hasn't arrived yet but I'm scared.

0 issues 4 years. Seat belt recall though.

The 1.2 PureTech ought to have been fixed on the new C3 by replacing the wet belt with a chain. Otherwise, don't buy anything that's not from Europe - Chrysler sucks balls.

The best offerings are those with the 1.6 THP in a relatively non-obese chassis - for instance, if you buy the 5008 with the 1.2 you're quite literally buying the automotive equivalent of a 500 pound tardlet trying to run a marathon.

The 208, 308, 408, Corsa, Astra, old Panda and Citroen C3 (hybrid) are the best offerings on sale right now, yet I still see no reason for anyone to buy them. If you want a good product, just buy a Corolla hatch/estate. Does the same job while lasting much longer between service intervals.

To be fair - if you buy an Alfa, you are already expecting the worst. Anyone who doesn't is the reason why there are so many dirt-cheap 2000s Alfa's on the European secondhand market. One engine breaks and the normie never buys Italian again.

Friend bought a new Opel 3 years ago.
3 major issues so far.
Turbo died after less than a year, then something else now it's the transmission.

Good on you for going EV. I originally wanted to buy a diesel Peugeot Partner before discovering about the cam chain issues.
>Stellantis is recalling nearly 1 million vehicles in Europe with 1.5 BlueHDi diesel engines (produced Oct 2017–Jan 2023) due to premature camshaft chain wear, which can cause severe engine failure. Affected models include Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel/Vauxhall, and Fiat.
>Technicians will run a sound diagnosis test to detect any abnormal engine noise.
>If no noise is detected the engine will be reprogrammed to reduce the risk of failure and the oil replaced with one that reduces wear.
>If unusual noise is present the chain will be replaced with 8mm.
They used a 7mm chain to save money but they're too weak and are breaking after only 30-40k km.

Stellantis in EU is just Peugeot and Peugeot is just a normal car maker with a share of its issues just like any other car maker.

grim
>>
Their main issue has been with their engines in past so with EVs who knows
>>
>>28884073
There's also Opel (mainly rebadged Peugeot but some GM things remained until recently) and Fiat-Alfa Romeo

the hard thruth that many (did i say americans? that was totally not my plan) doesnt want to hear, is that the italian, french and german part of stellantis is and always has been reliable. shit but reliable, stuff will fail and fall off but you will never get stranded on your roadtrip or experience a no-start issue in the morning. they just werk.
now there are a few other brands in stellantis that pull down their reputation, but one can hope that being under stellantis control and ownership they might have to get their shit together and start making reliable cars? (this time i definetly didnt say americans)
>>
>>28885689
>shit but reliable
the fucking knots you retards contort yourself into would win gold for olympic gymnastics for whatever podunk faggot ass country you hail from

>Alfa is their most reliable brand
Wowzers, it's not looking good.

this is the Mopar way and why Dodges and Jeeps are so popular despite being objectively kinda shit when directly compared to other cars in a similar price/performance bracket. The difference is Mopars are easy to fix and the parts are typically overproduced and cheap. They engineer their cars to put up with shit breaking and keep running until they physically can't anymore. Compare that to GM and Ford who basically don't care about the customer at all and make things that are annoying or complex and expensive to fix or just outright sabotage any attempts at repair.

>>28886505
haven't you got some crank bearings to replace in your bhaarati motor weehicle?

Europe sucks. I'm not the asshole but the whole point is Europe sucks. Suck it, podunk nowhere continent.
>>
>>28882976

What a clusterfuck of failed brands. You just know there are 100 levels of middle management and endless meetings that lead to zero actual decisions.

My giulia has also been pretty good (bought a 2018 with high miles). They’re still selling them, so I would recommend that if you want a new car. It’s a great DD, good power, and good handling. Interior is love/hate. If you want LEDs and “tech” gizmos you’ll be disappointed.
Only annoying thing is VIN-coding of replacement parts (annoying to bypass) and SGW (easily bypassed) for basic maintenance stuff. Dealerships also apparently gouge you in the US, so just learn about the car and maintain it yourself or at an independent mechanic.
>>
>>28889239
oh, only downside is the lack of a manual transmission and lack of an LSD on a lot of cars (LSD is easily fixed). Buy a manual if you can. The diesel needs a better clutch and some things, the QV manual is rare but apparently solid but maintenance is expensive.

>>28885679
Is the rebadged Trax/Encore still around? Those were –are– great little cars... originally a GM Korea development iirc

Get leather shoes. What are you going to do a kick flip?
>>
>>28882976
All of those brands had problems before the formation of stellantis, I doubt that's changed.
>>
>>28889239
If Stellantis wanted to survive, they'd have kept improving the Giorgio platform and learned to share some fucking parts around
>>
>>28882976
They have like one of the worst reliability ratings in the industry. Get something Japanese like Toyota or Mazda.
