Does not fit enough tire for actual cornering so they stay street cars for drag/roll racing. Big issue with the MQB platform at higher levels actually, nearly impossible to fit wider than a 255 tire in the rear. Even the current RS3 is a 400hp/3600lb car with 265 fronts and 245 rears. In comparison something like a VA STi/VB WRX fits 265s all around with no modifications and a M2 is 275 front/285 rear.

It is in the US, but in Europe (especially the UK) they're heavily discounted from sticker and most dealers will snap your arm off if you want one.
