The steering is loose, it's pulling slightly to the left, and I'm getting a weird squealing/scraping sound from the front of the car occasionally
No clue what it is but I hope it's cheap

Got a trailer to transport it. Will soon be fitting a new cylinder head with better flowing ports, larger valves and a more aggressive cam, along with supporting mods.
>>
>>28884464
Genuine VTS? Is it a ported head or aftermarket? I don't know about Citroëns, but one would think the VTS head was the best flowing stock head.

thats stock ride height and smaller wheels. they made these things like monster trucks.
>>
Creaky, falling apart, the usual.

Needs plugs, timing set, new torque converter, valve body rebuild, and a complete suspension rebuild.
And the silly part is it's actually economical for me to put 6 thou into it than spend 6 thou on a different used piece of shit. Definitely more economical than dropping 6 thou + papers + tax + a snip of the tip for a loan.

It's a 1.4 liter 8 valve. The VTS being a 1.6l 16v was just a UK market thing.
Few years ago I swapped on a 1.6l 8v head along with intake runners, injectors and what not. Bumped power up from 80 to 105hp.
Recently acquired a 1.3l 8v head and intake manifold. Should put me in the 120hp range.

The 16v TU5J4 and TU5JP4 heads are the best flowing heads but being DOHC the cam belt setup is different from the 8v blocks. So whilst you can get the heads to fit you run into issues driving the cam gears.
From the 8v heads the Peugeot 106 1.3l 8v rallye head and intake manifold is by far the best. They reved to like 8k rpm from factory. Not that many were sold though so parts are a bit scarse and pricey.

Running pretty well, have only had it 3 months, still "restoring" it.
Got a P0402 recently (EGR high flow detected) and it's idling slightly rough. Guess I've gotta dick around under the upper intake manifold.
One of the pulleys squeals on occasion when driving I have to clutch in, let revs drop all the way, then bring the clutch back out and it goes away. I'm guessing alternator pulley.
Gonna give it a new fuel filter and trans / diff oil changes soon because they probably haven't been changed since '98.

Battery's still flat and it gets dirtier by the day. I feel bad about it but I don't really have a good excuse to go drive somewhere.
>>
Great. Got new, wider tires which rubbed when cornering or hitting bumps, so I rolled all the fenders. Tested it out on the toe gay and no more rubbing
>>

>always lower a car
I used to think that way, then realized Soft is king.
My track car was crazy low, around 3in of ground clearance.
A few experienced race bros convinced me to soften the suspension by 30% and raise the ride heights.
It worked, much faster around the track.
>>
>>28884669
Other way around anon, you want to set the suspension according to the wheels on it not what the future entails. Otherwise you get fitment issues, rubbing, all sorts of funky shit.
>>
>>28884803
You speed increase was from softening the suspension not the ride height.
>>
>>28884809
you have to increase ride height in order to soften your suspension retard

Softer means more ride height changes.
So you have to run higher to avoid bottoming out.
Exit is turn 7 is a downhill braking zone
You will bottom the fuck out if you try to run too low.
Larger wheel gaps is completely fine.
>>
>>28884390
Another weekend with my shitbox not getting fucked. It's frustrating.
Oh, you mean my car? Still rusting away but it starts every time
>>
>>28885039
Anon, are you retarded?
Load transfer causes the front end to dive under braking.
If you run a low static ride height, you will absolutely bottom out at turn 7.

Run a higher static ride height and you won't bottom out.
If you run stuff enough to avoid bottoming out, the suspension will not be compliant enough to take curbs.
No curbs means the lap will be slow.
Simple as.
>>
>>28885056
A braking zone where that Porsche would bottom the fuck out.
The 911 bros always avoid being aggressive with curbs and that braking zone.
They lose a lot of time because of it.

Anyways, hit the track anon.
It's fun.
But $1,500 a weekend.

Exhaust manifold gasket leak, front left axle unusable so can't put it in 4x4, only changed the oil last service and not the filter so that's no good for the turbo, and the gearbox probably needs the oil changed because that's never been done. Other than that she's good, reliable.

Drag increases beyond some point of lowering because too low interferes with the aero. If a factory car has 5 inches clearance, and you add plastic plating to smooth up the underside, you'll get better average perf from 4.5 inches clearance and it gets significantly worse the lower it goes.

This is aside from the work and custom parts needed to correct the suspension geometry when going far outside of stock height.
Lowering a car has Zero magic benefit. None.
>>
>>28885246
It'll need an alignment who cares
One of the easiest ways to make a car faster is lowering it
>>
>>28885264
Is it faster because it's lower or is it faster because you put better struts and springs on it?
>>
>>28885266
You can easily see the differemce with good COILOVERS (like KW V3s) by adjusting them and trying multiple heights
I implore you to try it you are self
>>
>>28885272
why did you put the word coilovers in all caps wheelgap schizo?
>>
>>28885273
It behooves you to try it you are self. You do have COILOVERS and double swiss bonez, right, "anon?" You can probably see the difference wifh some V1s even!
