You have to buy a 2026 vehicle.
Must last you 10 years
Cannot buy another if it breaks down.
What do you get?
You’re walking if you can’t fix it.

Nissan Frontier. Basically the same engine and architecture they've been using for the past 20 years just with a modern body and interior thrown on top. That's probably the newest "old" vehicle you can buy brand new today and one of the few brand new automobiles that will last you 10 + years and still be repairable after that.

Pretty good choice. I'd prefer the lower slung base model Mazda3, but really, a new manual Mx-5 fastback would be what I'd choose.

At no point did you say I was obligated to actually use it so I buy a Honda Metropolitan scooter for 3k and leave it in the garage which will preserve it for the 10 years so I can continue driving my regular car. As long as nothing happens t it in there I don't have to walk. No takesies backsies, shut the fuck up, you FAILED OP ya fuckin' loser.

Redpill me on the new frontiers. Funny enough I was perusing online just because and there’s a new Pro-X by me for $43k. I’m not in the market but that seems like a solid price.

If it was entirely my money, Golf R or Mazda 3. If not or I got some discount, then perhaps Audi RS3.

Unironically Toyota hybrid anything. There's barely anything to break, no starter, no alternator, no CVT, etc. Just an engine with a planetary acting as a transmission.

I did exactly this 11 years ago. Got a lightly used 2013 mazda 3. It has been perfectly fine. Not exciting, but it worked and this year was the first time I had to get work done on it that wasn't regular maintenance. I considered getting a new 3, but I have been ready for an upgrade for about half the time I've owned the Mazda but couldn't justify it, since the Mazda just worked. I finally got my upgrade.
