Is there a way to own a replica car without being cringe? Pic related is actually a 1986 Fiero with a body kit. I want to buy it because it's funny and it would be funny to drive around in, and not because I want to trick people into thinking it's a real Ferrari and that I'm rich enough to afford a classic Ferrari. But I understand that that's widely the perception people would have of me. How would I "own up" to and get in front of its replicaness so as to be less cringe. Like maybe get a window sticker that says something cheeky like "I identify as a 1986 Pontiac" or something?

Get a custom plate that says 'PONTIAC'

no

he said without being cringe

That's a good idea butt PONTIAC is unsurprisingly taken. 86FIERO and ITSFAKE are available though so that would work
>>
i dont know why you buy one of these now when you can buy a real 308 for under 40k

Maybe a decal package would help? A big Pontiac or Fiero windshield sticker, door stickers, etc.?
>>28885527
A Fiero is probably a better daily driver.
>>
>>28885527
You can't though. That example had a blown engine that needed a full rebuild. Running ones go for 60k.
But also, and more importantly, I don't want to own a real classic Ferrari. A Fiero with a body kit is funny and still also just a Pontiac underneath.

Well made replicas of classic and unobtainable vehicles are well respected

A Fiero with a shitty Ferrari body kit is not
>>

1. Make it actually fast.
2. Just say it's a replica and that you like to work on cars when asked about it.

P.S. I don't think any semi-intelligent person will think that you are "rich" based on that car without other indicators.

Kit cars get sold within less than 1k miles for a reason. They are usually uncomfortable shit with no stability or safety that breaks down and costs more than a real car to build.
>>
>>28885556
This
Big difference between a knock off cause you can't afford the real thing and building a replica because the originals are destroyed or in museums

Replace the Ferrari badges with the Volvo Prancing Moose.

OP, don't you know that having any interest or putting any effort into anything is cringe unless you qualify it for the made up people you imagine will be judging you? Fun is cringe, fr.

>I'm worried about how people will perceive me - which decision should I make that best indicates that I don't care how I'm perceived?

>>28885509
If you took it and did a very unique build on it, something racing or cyberpunk-inspired instead of rolling around in rosso corsa, I think that makes it cool enough to stand on its own instead of just being an immitation.

I remember that artist I would jerk my chicken but not to that gay unbrith possession shit but instead to the (much more pleasurable) werewolf transformations with the titty and ass growth and all musclelly! Yeah... I can't believe the YouTube channel lasted like 7 years. The DeviantArt is probably gone yeah most of the works are probably lost media now.

Add another $60,000 and you might have a nice car.

Lol, you have obviously never driven one.
>>
Get a emblem that calls it a poorrari. Maybe a donkey kicking it hind legs. Own the fact its a fake.
>>
>>28885509
Pretty sure a kit of picrel quality isn't any cheaper than an actual 308.
>>
>>28885509
Make it go the part. If it's as performant as the original, then you are no longer cheap, you are just frugal.
>>
>>28885527
>he never saw all the Top Gear challenge episodes that show why these old sports cars are so cheap
Enjoy it until bits of the engine start spitting out of the exhaust

It's already red and already has Ferrari badges on it

I actually have. I test drove one in the late 90's. It was a V6 automatic at a buy-here-pay-here dealer in northwest Dallas. During the test drive, the sales guy talked about how he and his buddy liked to drive it to the titty bars. I remember it being underwhelming to drive and typical GM quality but otherwise a usable car. I'm not really a big GM fan, but I would still probably rather daily a Fiero than an early 80s Ferrari.
>>
i think the fierro looks perfectly fine from the factory i dont like all these fiberglass 2x4 ass bodykits for them
>>
>>28885544
this reminds me of house of velez.
>>
>>28885509
No, there isn't.
>>
>>28885527
Meanwhile 355s were 60k when i got out of college and are 250k today when i can maybe get close to affording one.
