What kind of tools do you use when wrenching? I have had a set of mostly harbor freight tools for a long time and they've served me well, but I'm starting to slowly replace them with second hand Proto tools that I buy off ebay.
I like my tekton set
I have an entire shop with all sorts of tools I've tailored to meet my needs. A lot of custom tools I've fabricated too for those annoying jobs.

>>28886034Mostly Snap-On for sockets, pliers tend to be Knipex or older Craftsman/Snap-on. Screwdrivers are Matco and Snap-On. Milwaukee in the shop where I work, DeWalt at home. Sadly, I wrench for a living. (whee. Drum Brakes.)
I have an older version of this set. it's been enough to do everything I've needed to do on my current car I've had since 2019. oil changes, water pump, alternator, brakes, stereo installation, some exhaust work. I need to do suspension soon and I think I'll probably need some specialty tools for that.I do really want to get a cordless impact wrench and driver, I borrow my buddys sometimes and it saves a lot of time/effort. anyone have a recommended brand for those? I don't own any other cordless tools yet.

Bought 90% of my collection from retiring mechanics for almost nothing. 2-3 years ago I got a real US ball bearing double tool chest filled to the brim with good and specialty tools, probably cost $15k new total, for $50.I've got air tools galore, never used 'em.I use whatever random stuff I've got that's the right tool. >>28886034still using my metrinch socket and wrench sets i got when they were on sale, got them for about 140 bucks. looked at them recently and the socket set alone is like 400 bucks now.haven't encountered rounded off bolts but they're great when dealing with a mix of imperial and metric bolts.

As a hobbyist temporarily in a commie city, I have become a big fan of this plastic hdpe rolling toolbox. Allows you to work in third world shitholes easily. The lower compartment can fit jackstands and the upper 2 fit enough hand tools. Comes apart so it all fits in even this little car.I did the timing chain and guides in the gutter in the ghetto. My tools are mostly harbor freight and tekton except pliers are channel lock and knipex, screwdrivers vessel.
12 inch adjustable, vice grips, set of Allen keys that's it.

I'd actually say Rigid is my favorite because of the LSA, but I like whatever as long as it does the job.

>>28892122I don't have pics of my tools or anything but I have a little red metal toolbox with a carry handle, there's an insert in the top with my ratchets, sockets and screwdriver bits. You take that out and underneath is all my assorted tools. I don't know if it's specialty but pipe spanners have been a lifesaver for me, allowing me to replace my soft clutch hoses in a pinch. Funny story is that the first time I bled the clutch after that I was opening the bleeder too far so air kept getting in, the next day I only cracked it a quarter turn and got all the air out.

They love their allen keys.Felt lined tape aka flocking tape is great for elegantly fixing squeaks/rattles and can also make small edges look flocked and professional.Beam style 1/4" drive torque wrench is a BIFL item, never really needs calibration just bend the indicator back to zero.If anyone else is like me and held off all this time on buying a lithium impact...
