why are there so many chinese clones of land rovers?
>>
>>28886134
Because land rovers look better than your average egg shaped crossover with weird headlights
>>
youd think they could just buy jlr since its basically bankrupt
>>

THE BIG STATUS

I'd rather buy a Chinese EV Land Rover clone for $40K than a real Land Rover for $150K tho. Reliability will definitely be better, and its only purpose is to look good in the parking lot of the local Bed Bath Beyond and Pottery Barn, so the EV drivetrain is totally sufficient. Charge at home, cruise to the mall, repeat
>>
>>28886134
That just looks generic. Nothing stands out enough to resemble a Land Rover. Then again, that's true of any Land Rover built in the last decade or so. Their design totally fell off after the L322

I saw one today. My fucking Kia has a sloped rear windshield making it IMPOSSIBLE to neatly wipe down with a squeegee. The Santa Fe one is FLAT. Maybe it's noisier at speed, but fuck it would be nice to have a rear windshield I can actually keep clean.

Ford was ahead of its time
>>
>>28886307
you still see those out in rural areas
>>
>>28886290
Flatter rear glass is worse for keeping clean because it creates a low pressure zone that sucks dirt right onto it.
This video explains the concept pretty well, among other things.

I do like the Flex, shares a platform with the Explorer too so you get a little bit of that fleet vehicle parts availability.

>Going from robust, easyly repairable cars that work for decades even in Africa to gay "luxury cars"
Grim.
>>
>>28886414
Do you think it was poor people taking them across Africa?
>>
>>28886422
No. Rich people doing cool things are cool.
Rich people being faggots are gay.
>>
>>28886429
having some guy drive you up to an animal so you can shoot it isn't really what I would consider cool
>>
>>28886246
I told my fiance about the Santa Fe and she upgraded to it from an old civic and I fucking love it.

I've seen quite a few of pic related here in the UK. Yes "Jaecoo" is apparently Chinese.

I've also seen quite a few Chinese MG cars. MG was originally a British brand, but it was bought by China about 20 years ago, so all the modern MG cars are Chinese.

I sometimes see BYD cars (also Chinese) but they're not as common as the Chinese MG cars.
>>
>>28886556
Aye, same here. Apparently they're fairly cheap for what you get.
Now I'll laugh at Chinese clones any day, but going by LR's reliability and quality control issues they might actually be better?
I won't argue about their off-road capability, Chery humiliated themselves trying to perform a stunt LR did.
