I just got this Mazda CX-3 with just under 100,000 miles on it. I’m looking at the Carfax and they never did any transmission work to it. I want this car to last at least another 50,000 miles, but I’m afraid if I touched the transmission fluid it’ll start slipping and I’m afraid if I go to a mechanic shop, they’re just gonna tell me to do whatever’s most expensive. Is there a way to check for myself? The transmission is extremely smooth especially for a six speed but like I said, I wanted to ask 50,000 more miles. Appreciate any advice on this thank you!

Thanks! It was recommended to me to do some sort of drain and fill, 3 of them over the course of 8,000 miles or so ($300 each time). Does this sound practical, or should I just go for the complete flush and fill? From what you're saying, as I understand it, if it starts slipping after the flush, it was going to die out anyways, correct? I guess also I just did not consider 100,000 miles low; everyone I tell that it has 100,000 miles seems shocked at how it's still running. XD By the way, is there any way to tell if it will slip before I commit to getting rid of the old fluid?
>>28886182Either the drain and fill procedure or complete flush will both be fine
I've changed high mileage tranny fluid that looked like used diesel oil and it still shifted and performed perfectly for many years after that. Mind you it shifted like that before. If your shit is starting to shudder or slip and you change the fluid you're just taking it out to pasture. You might as well leave it at that point. I've also only done spill and fills which does leave quite a bit of dirty fluid in the unit which might keep things a bit happier. ymmv.
>>28886389Yeah, I think I’m gonna go with the drain. Fill like you guys are recommending. I just got the car we could go and the transmission hasn’t shown any, and I mean any sign of wear. But just to be safe I’m gonna spend the extra money and do the multiple drain and fills. I like cars and everything, but I like having money in my pocket more. So i really want this car to last. XD
