Give me a station wagon in that wonderful boxy design already god damn it.
>>
>>28886468
Who even makes a station wagon anymore?

The new 4runner might look huge but the seating position is very sedan-like, believe it or not.
>>
>>28886469
There are still some wagons out there, they just won't have that old boxy design
>>
>>28886470
Show one example of a current year production station wagon
>>
>>28886471
Here's your modern station wagon bro. Crossovers are the new station wagon
>>
>>28886472
Thats what i’m saying. That pic looks boxy enough for you. That and subbie Outback is probably the closest thing to a station wagon. Everything else is a mall crawler SUV/crossback which are basically the same thing these days. Whether you get a boxy one or a gook egg shape just comes down to the brand
>>
>>28886472
That's not a wagon, that's a fucking SUV/CUV cuckmobile.
>>28886477
The BMW G31 is the next best thing I'm considering. The 540d can be had for 30 grand here.
>>28886469
Maybe. But I don't want a high up car. I want a sedan with more utility and that's a station-wagon.
>>
>>28886480
How is a G30/31 any different than a modern Outback? They're like the same car
>>
>>28886469
>Who even makes a station wagon anymore?
VW, Audi, Skoda, Volvo, Toyota, Peugeot, Mercedes, BMW, Dacia, Kia, BYD, Zeekr, etc

Boxy station wagons ended in 2000 with the first gen Volvo V70.
>>
Station wagons are just SUV's squished down a little now

No they're not even remotely close
>How is a G30/31 any different than a modern Outback?
The height of the car and the belt line you blind, dumb motherfucker, the outback has the proportions of a toy car.
The G31 is 1,467 meters, the outback 1,675 meters high, the difference is almost as long as my cock.
>>
>>28886490
Has this Beamer vs Soob been a long time rivalry or something? Seems like any mention of a Subaru just sets off BMW fags
>>
>>28886491
Not him, but they're really not at all comparable. Apple to oranges type deal.
>>
>>28886493
I'm mostly talking about aesthetics of a wagon. They look the same. I've just noticed BMW lovers snap whenever Subaru comes up for some reason
>>
>>28886464
You and every other post-menopausal woman. Don't hurt your back getting in and out
>>
>>28886494
What looks the same about them? They have completely different design languages. One's a tall boxy car geared towards more "offroad" driving, the other one is a quite sleek and low to the ground car with luxury styling.
>>
>>28886491
>>28886494
No rivalry, but they don't look similar either.
Matter of fact, I like old subarus, especially Imprezas and foremost the bug-eye.
But the outback is just not a wagon, it's a cuck-mobile with proportions that appeal to man-children.
>>
>>28886503
The older Outbacks were definitely wagons
>>
>>28886509
The older ones, but we're not talking about the older ones but the "modern ones".
>>
>>28886497
Boohoo nigga
>>
>>28886511
Well everything now is a crossover now, deal with it or change it is what I'm saying. The wagon is dead.
>>
>>28886515
Bro, what are you talking about? Just scroll up a little bit, you'll see two photos of station wagons that are in production.

>>
>>28886464
I just wish it had better looking OEM wheels. They're too generic SUV looking for me. Here's to hoping the ones on the ROX concept become an option someday.
>>
>4banger
>rough ride
>solid rear axle
>little cargo space or passenger room because of combo of body on frame design, solid rear axle, and heavy low-charge-density old skool nickel battery
>poor handling
you have to want the macho trugg appearance and be willing to overlook all the flaws
>>
>>28886464
I'll never understand why this isn't just the 4Runner. They should have used this design on it and the Tacoma and kept making the Land Cruiser based on the LX. It's so insane to me that they KNEW that this car looked good and they knew people would want to buy it for the looks alone, so they locked it behind a paywall with the Land Cruiser/GX badge and then came up with a totally separate and significantly uglier design just to make the good looking one look better
>>
>>28886634
it makes sense to have a larger version of the 4runner given that tacoma is only a compact pickup, but the odd thing is this isn't much bigger than the 4runner
they missed an opportunity to make something wider and longer
>>
>>28886635
I'll give you something wider and longer
>>
>>28886639
I genuinely do not understand what exactly the differences are between the 4runner, land cruiser, gx, and lx, they have too many similar looking vehicles that seem mostly differentiated by powertrain, not size

I am gay, btw.
>>
>>28886634
The Land Cruiser is AWD. Its also called a Land Cruiser Prado everywhere else in the world and people in NA have been begging for it. Then from what I understand the NA dealers were greedy jack asses and forced Toyota's hand to keep the full size Land Cruiser as a limited production special SUV that they could up sale people into and not cut into the sale of the Sequoia.

Toyota has been saying for years now in investor calls that they want to consolidate their global parts with NA parts. So the Full size LC would share parts with the Sequoia and Tundra. The 4Runner would share parts with the Tacoma, LC Prado, and Hilux. Americans eat that shit up too because they like the same but different bragging rights of having the more expensive model.
>>
>>28886635
>but the odd thing is this isn't much bigger than the 4runner
It's not bigger at all. They are the exact same vehicle.
>>
>>28886647
the lx isn't that much bigger either, is the land cruiser just the hybrid powertrain and an exterior reskin? I don't understand Toyota's niches. Doesn't the 4runner have the hybrid powertrain as an option too?
>>
>>28886642
But that's wrong though. In America we always had the midsize Prado sold as the 4Runner/GX (starting in the 90s at least) and the full size Land Cruiser/LX. They're consolidating in the sense that now the Tundra/Sequoia/LX/300 Series are all built on the same platform but instead of rebadging the Sequoia as a Land Cruiser, they rebadged the 4Runner. They're still selling the same number of models but it's the first time they ever did 3 midsize and 2 full size instead of 2 midsize and 3 full size.
>>
>>28886652
I don't know how else to phrase it. The new 4Runner and new Land Cruiser are the exact same car. A Land Cruiser is just a 4Runner with more options. It's basically a trim level.
>>
>>28886663
it looks a little different?
I assume land cruiser has some more serious 4wd mechanicals
honestly I read every review in major car mags for these vehicles and they are all very similar except the 4banger 4banger hybrid, v6, v6 hybrid powertrains

the base land cruiser doesn't even have powered seats
also the last gen land cruiser was MUCH larger than the 4runner and much more expensive too so its very confusing
>>
>>28886619
I coulda sworn i saw a LC with similar wheels to this on the lot.

Anyway, OEM tires are good enuff. Just buy the cool big ones when they need to be replaced
>>
>>28886663
Theyre not the exact same car. Just literally sit in both and you’ll see. The 4Runner sitting position is weird and different its almost like a sedan, I shit you not. It also manages to have less cargo space for some reason
>>
>>28886968
Obviously they have different interiors...
You thought I meant the only difference was just the front bumper?
>>
>>28887000
Your words were, “the exact same car”
It’s not my fault you can’t articulate yourself retard. You should have just said they fill the same niche. But to me, someone who isnt a manlet, the actual experience of sitting in and driving is a drastic difference
>>
>>28886464
fuck you go advertize somewhere else toyotard
>>
>>28887146
My bad I forgot everything online has to be interpreted literally. Like if I said the Toyota Cavalier was the same car as the Chevy Cavalier, it would be worth pointing out that uhm actually they're not the same car because the Toyota Cavalier has a Toyota logo on the steering wheel.

Maybe not, toyota motor is paying the company he works for BIG BUX to post garbage shopping network tier fake testimonials like this thread.
They wont spend a few bucks to fix their shit v6 and 3 cylinder engines, and transmissions, and safety recalls but theres no limit to the shill budget
>>
>>28886469
They exist, but they're called SUVs now.
>>
>>28886659
>In America we always had the midsize Prado sold as the 4Runner/GX
This is wrong, the Prado was always a Land Crusier, the 4runner was the Surf
>>

Based paying beta tester
>>
>>28887477
Dude. A 4Runner and a Hilux Surf and a Land Cruiser J90 are all the same car. "Nooo they're not EXACTLY the same" No shit. A LX450 isn't EXACTLY the same car as a J80 but if you say they're the same thing, everyone knows what you mean. You have to go out of your way to get confused by something everyone else has understood for nearly 30 years.

two different coworkers of mine bought it
my biggest takeaways
>insanely aggressive driver inattention detection and alarms
>said feature can be turned off but resets every time you shut off the vehicle
>oem rim/wheel setup looks awkward in any and every trim
>interior is good but not great
>insanely expensive top trim doesn't have painted exterior trim, still plastic
>>
>>28889580
>>insanely aggressive driver inattention detection and alarms
my car doesn't have that
it has a "drowsiness alert" that is really, really hard to trigger and I think you have to wave your hand in front of the dash to do it, I haven't seen it in months.
It doesn't make you look at the road, it just drives hands free if the road is straight/wide enough. Too bad all the newer systems have cameras I think and MAKE you look at the road.
It just has a torque sensor that has you jiggle the wheel every minute or so to keep the hands free driving action going. And the blind spot monitoring and front collision alert work well and don't have many false positives or unwanted intrusive beeps.

>>28888283
the engine has been recalled and apparently anon said they fucked up the design and used a too-small bearing that caused failure but won't admit this, and, like chebby, blamed "machining dust" which makes no sense cuz its hundreds of thousands of engines.
apparently the hybrid engines, as shitty as they are have not been recalled.
>>
>>28886619
I can't think of a Toyota that came with good-looking stock wheels this century.
>>
>>28889586
You have the land cruiser anon?
Is it true the driver alerts cant be permanently changed?
>>
>>28888283
All I hear about these v6 engines are recalls, and all i hear about the 4 banger turbo hybrids are the reliability
>>
>>28888963
Could put gas cans up there for overlanding or pelican cases for extra shit. Shovel, flats for getting out of ruts, those fold out shelters pack nicely on the side too
>>
>>28886619
Those size wheels needs major suspension work, not just a simple lift kit (if you want them to be actually decent offroad). No way toyota is gonna do that for you.

>>
>>28889817
its not so much the reliability as much as the 4banger turbos are crude and rough and get terrible fuel economy
toyota needs a new clean sheet 2.5L engine design and they won't invest the funds

>>28889812
no, I have a kia. It theoretically has a drowsy alert but I almost never see or use it. My point is that for the most part the Kia alerts are not intrusive, work as intended, and if you shut them off they don't come back on (like the speed limit chime, for example).
>>
>>28886642
The thing in the OP is a prado. You don't get the proper land cruiser at all
>>
>>28886464

>>28892170
The 300 series full size Land Cruiser continues to be available in the US with a Lexus badge, just like previous generations.
