>$400 to activate something you already own
why are they like this?

This is why I purchased a Tesla. Get all the features. The goy cattle can enjoy their subscription slop.

Because we didn't light dealerships on fire when other companies started trying this.

Map licenses, mazda doesn't own the map data and they have to pay some one else for it. Well worth it for me. Most people use android auto anyways.

I specifically don't use android auto so I can have the phone give me directions while using the cars navigation to look ahead since google maps is such a clusterfuck to use.

Because you are goy cattle and they only allow you to exist to milk you for as much profit as possible, through labor and consumerism
>>
>>28886867
It's probably inferior to Google maps too
>>
>>28886881
So let me get this straight. You paid money for a vehicle that collects data on you 24/7 for them to sell and make even more money off of you, many times more than the value of the car even, and then call others cattle?

Cars no longer have standard double-DIN radio bays. With the amount of other junk integrated into the touchscreens, it's not that easy anymore.

Mazda one is shit it's based on Nokia maps. You can buy the sd cards for 1/4 the price on Amazon and it comes with 3 years of map updates. But they all come with Android Auto so who cares?

Did anyone see the FBI director admit this Wednesday that they are buying data broker data to bypass needing a warrant to spy on citizens?
Anyone?
>>
>>28887389
We all already knew. The only thing I'm surprised about is that they have to buy it and not just acquire it.
>>
>>28887408
I was surprised by that. But, assume that data aggregators like Palantir are funded by the government.
Can't surveil your citizens legally? Prop up "private" companies that do.

I had to rent a Toyota a few weeks ago and the navigation system was paywalled. The maps were all loaded in there, it just wouldn't let me use them unless I paid and instead only let me use the compass.
>>
>>28887430
Meanwhile I've never had a car with GPS, been driving over 20 years.
It's not a big deal. You have a phone and can buy a map.
>>
>>28887444
Yeah but I was just surprised by it. Phone navigation is always better but I was used to car navigation just being included, which is how my previous cars had been (you have a nav DVD or it's just loaded up on an internal drive).
>>
>>28886867
Capitalism.
>>
>>28887444
I use my nav system constantly. The newer ones accept decimal gps coordinates via voice command which is a godsend if you hike and go to weird places with no address that aren't known points of interest.
Partially that's due to my car being weird and only having wired apple carplay but its decent you just have to ignore it when it tells you to turn onto random back roads sometimes which google maps doesn't do

I take road trips a lot and a nav system is great to have
>>
>>28887452
Man, I've never had gps. I've lived in a shit ton of places. Was moving every 3 months at some point. I've never felt like I needed my car to have one. Not bragging, it's just how cars always were, and they got around without internet-connected phones. I don't even want it.
Still, I'm shocked a rental company didn't have a deal with satnav companies, as rentals are usually people in places they don't know.

bros... no....

who cares? carplay has a better one for free.
>>
Why should I pay for some piece of shit proprietary navigation system when almost every phone nowadays has google maps?
