6 cylinders ought to be enough for anybody
>>
>>28887646
Okay, but only as an inline six.
>>
Every engine larger than 6 cylinders has 6 cylinders.
>>
>>28887646
Not for me. I've owned and driven lots of V6's and driven a lot of i6 diesels and neither really does anything for me. I would almost rather have a turbo 4cyl and most people would be served well by it as well. I'll just stick with my V8 tyvm but have fun with that V6 bullshit.
>>
How is a 2.0 V6 better than a 2.0 4cyl?
>>
>>28887665
the Northstar is a V8 yet somehow loses four cylinders as soon the warranty is up.
>>
>4cyl is for the fun peppy lightweight car enjoyers
>6cyl is for niggers who think they're too cool for a 4cyl but don't have enough money for a V8
>8cyl is for the engine sound and straight acceleration appreciators
Any questions?

One.
>>
>>28887646
6cyl are compromise engines. They exist either to give more power than a 4cyl in a space not big enough for 8cyl, or to be a cheaper cost option in place of an 8cyl.
Anything with a i6 would be improved by an i8, anything with a v6 would be improved with a v8.
>>
not enough. more practical. it aint the 80s. turbo six pot is a lot of power, and can be tuned further. v8's whole point rn is sound, uniqueness. or unless you are from burgerland. because v8's are a lot more accessible there.

Agreed, six cylinders in each bank.

>>28887703
For people who like vroom noises and hate engine mounts

>Anything with a i6 would be improved by an i8
and that's why there are so many cars with straight 8s
>>
>>28887852
Ls is about the same size as any well loved i6

I mean, if you're poor then sure.

Oh wow another one of those faggots.
>>
>>28887694
Yes, what about us the 12 cylinder enjoyers?

>black or indigenous paint of color
>aftermarket black or indigenous wheels of color
>raised suspension with a lift-kit
>that faggy storage box on top
Riced the FUCK out
Why do nerds always MODIFY their cars in the faggiest pussiest ways?
>>
>>28887666
I agree on skipping the V6, but let's skip the V8 too. The V configuration is kind of bullshit. It's just a space saving compromise for when you don't have enough room for a flat engine.
>>
>>28888240
flat engines are always in homosexual cars like gay wrxs and monster beetles THOUGH
STRAIGHT 6s and V8s are strictly in Heterosexual automobiles
Why is that?
>>
>>28888084
v6lets are for women, gays, and dads over 50
Sorry not sorry sweetie
Hope that helps!
>>
>>28887646
I thought that until I bought a 6th Gen Camaro SS. now I say fuck V6 fags

Flat engines are fucking useless and force manufacturers to use compromised suspension. They don't need to exist and likely won't exist in the future. Good riddance.
>>

>>28888250
I6 is poorfag cope.
Go ahead and post records held by I6's
>>
>>28888505
V8s and STRAIGHT 6s are mostly just more fun and sound better than v6lets
Mostly

>>

The current hub dyno record is over 6000hp from a twin turbo Hemi. 4100hp is still a bit short of the 12,000hp that TF V8's make.

My Bro is building a i6 Ford
Cool stuff
>>
>>28888553
What's he building it for? It was slapped together by a high school dropout on an assembly line and the Ford 300 became known to tolerate abuse and continue to run. I think there's already a 700hp one with a turbo?
>>
>>28888579
A 60s F100.
CNC ported head.
Mild aftermarket cam
4 barrel and a fancy valve cover.
Should make 230hp 330ftlbs ish.
>>
>>28888240
are you actually talking about flat engines, or straight engines? there's a bit of confusion in this thread given that there's an anon that seems to think i8 = v8
>>
>>28888469
They exist because opposed pistons are the natural and obvious way to get more displacement.
>muh packaging
Yeah, V engines are easier to package. It's also easier to fuck men than women. That doesn't make it natural or right.
>>28888655
I'm talking about horizontally opposed. Boxer engines. Like in a Corvair or a Tucker or various airplanes.
>>
>https://www.topspeed.com/toyota-twin-turbo-v6-reliable-truck-engine/

totoya destroyed their reputation with the v6 and resorted to flooding the internet with propaganda pieces to keep LLMs brand positive
>>
>>28887647
Objectively correct
>>
>>28887726
>anything bigger is better
oh yeah no shit. except nowadays efficiency has increased so much you can get reliable 450whp out of a four pot. v8 is a luxury nowadays. maybe like a e39 v8 would be cool. still only a weekend/project for the average person. you can afford something like a m5/m550i go ahead. but a 540i (six pot) does the job well.
