what makes the MacPherson strut so much more superior to the double wishbone setup??
>>28889303It's cheaper, durable as hell, simple, and an effective independent front suspension design that is adaptable as hell.
tremble before the power of being good enough
>>28889303What's crazy is that it only took Lancia a little less than 20 years in WRC to achieve what the others are only starting to catch up to. Their new attempt with the Ypsilon is just dog poo... 1.2 FixItAgainTony in a caked up 500 YUCK
>>28889303It's a cheap, POS design. It's OK for racing on smooth tracks. Garbage on backroads and highways with actual bad bumps, potholes and debris.
>>28889403>IT USES A SIMPLE SUSPENSION SET UP THAT HAS ROUTINELY RETURNED GOOD RESULTS>IT IS NOT EXOTIC AND THEREFORE IT IS BAD!!t.benchracer.
>>28889403>Suspension system that has been used in countless cars on a daily basis is bad in everyday settings>Why?>It just is, that's all. It is bad and I am saying it's bad because it's bad and the reason it is bad is trust me bro.
>>28889403Poorfag can't afford a Porsche
>>28889649It's basically just a volkswagen anyway
>>28889303Two things, one is it's lighter so much less unsprung mass. Second, if tuned right, the flaw where it starts producing positive camber under compression can be mitigated. Now, a third one but it's questionable and that, using the flex of the coilover as a stressed member to increase instability which translates to higher agility under heavy load
>>28889323As hell!
>>28889403bus riding neet from australia who has never owned a car lmao
>>28889675And yet they can't afford one
>>28889303I can't stop calling them McDonald
>>28889451>IT IS NOT EXOTIC AND THEREFORE IT IS BAD!!Wishbones aren't exotic either. They're very simple. Maccas are like wishbones without an upper control arm. In the '90s Accords and Civics had wishbones. Miatas have them, some Impreza generations have them, nu-86s have them. Picrel has 'em on all 4.MacPherson IS worse for dynamics. How much worse? Eh, it depends. The problem with wishbones is engine bay and trunk space. Chopping out the upper arms gives a lot more room for a bigger engine + accessories and a bigger trunk while saving money. When group B died, manufacturers were no longer allowed to swap a custom bones setup on street cars made with macphersons.
>>28890215>Picrel has 'em on all 4.Picrel
>>28890218>'80's-gen CivicSee? Double-wishbone is EXOTIC suspension.
>>28889303>sAudi lastso that’s the power of the legendary Quattro…
>>28889451Oh, ok - stack it up against a basic unequal-length, double A-arm rig, that GM has used on the camaro for THIRTY FUCKING YEARS. I've raced in strut Mustangs and equal-length cars and I know how they stack up against something decent.
>>28889454>it just isMaybe hit the streets and backroads sometime. The more a tire moves with a strut, the smaller the contact patch and yeah, busrider, you WILL break it loose and slide.
>>28890236Wow! So despite that almost every car I've ever owned having McChadson struts, and all the time I've spent driving the snot out of them, I'll literally die if I go on the roads I drive every day?!Have you ever even seen a car? You're more retarded than most people on /o/.
>>28889363This that car btfo everything else it's crazy. Why even compare it to cars with multiple generations and decades of racing? Not even worthwhile.
>>28890225I remember a time when these civics were the altimas of the road. Always the craziest mofakas pulling off the stupidest shit on the road and that was before everyone had pocket computers to look at while they drive
>>28890395>Have you ever even seen a car? You're more retarded than most people on /o/.do you really want to waste your time arguing with the most retard autist on /o/?
>>28890786Kind of.
>>28889323>durable as hellHe doesn't know
