What do people on /o/ who claim they're wrenching on their car all the time actually do? There's no need to do that unless you have a race car or a total shitbox that breaks down every day.
>>28889892I have several projects and frame up builds of my own in various stages. I also work on other people's shit. Currently completely rebuilding a 1996 f150 for an acquaintance. Southern frame, crate engine, body resto etc..
>>28889892>What do people on /o/ who claim they're wrenching on their car all the time actually do?post photos of their mint condition funko tool collections.
>>28889892Found the poorfag apartment dweller with 1 car....
>>28889892>2021+5>Not owning a fleet of shit boxesngmi
>>28889892>total shitbox that breaks down every day.THAT'S LITERALLY MOST OF /O/ YOU FUCKING RETARD0
Saving money for expensive parts, waiting for expensive parts to arrive, find out it's the wrong expensive parts, send back the expensive parts, await refund.90% of wrenching time is logistics.
>>28889892Car can always be a bit cleaner, make a bit more power, take corners a little better, etc. There's not an end goal to achieve, if I reach the limit of my skill on a car, I practice, prepare, or find another vehicle to work on. When you're making something for yourself, you take your time
One time I changed my wiper blades. Only real wrenchers would understand
ya mudda, mostly
>>What do people on /o/ who claim they're wrenching on their car all the time actually do?
>>28889892>race car or a total shitboxMy car checks both of those boxes. I've always got something to fix.
>>28889892im constantly breaking shit so i have to keep wrenching
Im constantly fixing crap so i like to keep breaking things
>>28889892I drive my vehicles hard as fuck which requires upkeep and maintenance. I have to take apart my brakes every couple months and re-lube the slide pins because the heat cooks the grease away and they start to stick. Stuff breaks on 20 year old shitboxes even if you drive them nicely.
>>28889892I'm assuming shitboxes. People call others wrenchlet but aside from filters, wipers, and oil changes, there's been nothing to do on my 3 cars. My oldest car is 2021
>>28889892My shitbox is over 20 years old
>>28889892I swear working on you'are car is a redneck hobby for poor retards with constantly broken shitboxen.Any middle-class fag or above just leases a new appliance-mobile every couple years and doesn't even know about changing the tiresThese days they're lucky to even know about oil changes. Zoomers probably think the car gets recharged with electricity at the gas pump just like they're iPads and good to use again
"Working on cars" for me is 6 months of saving money for parts and a weekend afternoon of actually putting things together, finding out one or two things aren't working out and being mad I have to order additional parts and delay my cruise for another month or two.
>>28889892i'm either waiting for parts, playing vidya or window shopping for parts or posting on forums or this board, or a combination of all of these things at the same time
>>28889892I take a lot of pride in doing preventative maintenance like brakes, oil changes, spark plugs, filters, whatever. It saves me a lot of money. I hand wash and hand wax my cars as often as I can. As a dad I can’t do car stuff with any sort of regularity. We haven’t owned shitboxes in probably 5 years and I don’t think I could ever go back to owning one. Time becomes a major limiting factor, and I can’t spend an entire weekend chasing electrical gremlin #36 anymore. I have a 20 year old muscle car that is in generally pretty good shape. It has been lightly modded but not outrageously so, and I can’t justify turning it into a paperweight for potentially months to do something else to it.
