Boringmobile, meh interior, meh seats, infotainment a shit

The hybrid is the only distinguishable one because it gets genuine hybrid mileage, unlike most other hybrid SUV/CUV on the market getting like 5 miles of extra gas mileage.

Yup. It's a rav4
>>
>>28890017
Very boring.
The transmission is tuned to conservatively that it refuses to accelerate unless you really dig into the pedal. You basically have to keep it in "sport" mode to not drive like a grandma - and even then just barely.
Seats are ok for short drives, but become uncomfortable on longer trips.
Arm rest on the door is too low.
JBL sound system has too much treble even if you adjust the settings.
>>
>>28890017
They really shat the bed ever since they made it full "Big City Car" back in 2012. It is decent "car" just by the superficial metric of every cityfag that needs something big to feel safe while in a 3 hour commute. No other redeemable qualities at all.
>>28890057
This is an issue with all current gen Toyota CVTs as far as I've seen. They have a horrendous input delay and accelerate whenever the fuck they feel like it

My whole life I liked to drive distinctive cars. I loved being the only guy around with my unique shitbox. Last year I was late for work one day because my 2003 Subaru Baja didn't start and I said fuck this, the next day I put the Baja on facebook marketplace, went to my local Toyota dealer and bought a certified preowned gray 2021 RAV4 XLE hybrid and I fucking love it. I love 40mpg on the highway. I love that I don't have to check the oil every time I get gas. I love that there's seventeen other gray 2021 RAV4s on the road around me at all times so I just blend in to the crowd and no one cares about me. I love that no retarded boomers ask me about my car in the Home Depot parking lot or when I'm filling up or from their rolled down window next to me at a stoplight. Some day soon I'll buy some unique broken piece of shit that's fun to work on and drive on the weekends when it starts but I'm done dailying anything that sells less than 200k cars a year.
>>

dunno if it's still the case but the rav4 prime was the second fastest car in toyota's current offerings behind the supra

NPC foid car
Exceptions only for 15+ year old examples such as V6s, manuals, and the 3 door versions.
It was always cringe by virtue of being a unibody, transverse-engined crossover, but like the Honda CR-V it at least tried to lean in to the "mini SUV" thing instead of slapping black plastic on it so consumers don't realize it's got the same ground clearance as a Camry. It went much further than the CR-V ever did in fact, since you could even get one with a short wheelbase, soft top, and manual transmission.
Both of those went completely downhill around the time that they stopped slapping the spare tire on the back.

Ask somebody with one how they like it and it's always "it's okay" it's alright" "it does the job". You would think you'd want a little more out of a $50k purchase but whatever.

>>28890341
Pretty sure even the Tundra is faster than the Supra so that's not really anything to brag about. You're still spending $70k on a fucking RAV4 which makes you a retard with a quick vehicle.
>>
>>28890068
Wouldn't that be due to the throttle tuning? Could be improved with a throttle controller.

But if i was in the market for a city SUV i'd go with a Honda with the 1.5L i-VTEC engine, that engine pulls like a motherfucker for how small it is.

That's pretty much everywhere. I'm in California and it's like that anywhere with Mexicans. Often with Dodgers or anime decals.

If you think it doesn't I have a bridge to sell you. Specially considering that entire industry of cheap chink EVs is being literally propped up by the CCP. The real question is do you even care? cause your normie bullshit driving habits are gonna be more of a clog in those servers than anything really useful.

I mean, what are they gonna do with it? your smartphone is already ratting you out to companies about the fact that you drive to 7/11 for a slushie constantly, driving data isn't gonna add anything of value to that file.

Since you apparently lack the ability to read english, allow me to expand upon it so that you can slap it on chatGPT and get a better translation in your language:
>Boringmobile
This means that the vehicle in question is not exciting at all to drive, not to be confused with luxury vehicles that are boring to drive but comfortable, which takes us to:
>meh interior, meh seats
This is meant to imply that the seats are uncomfortable, and that the interior looks cheap, feels cheap, and as such it does cheap vehicle things like having excessive road noise inside the cabin and leaky seals, and I'm not even joking about that one, one of the first defects from the factory was leaky sunroofs fucking up the roof lining with water
>infotainment a shit
This is mean to say that the infotainment software is not good, it's not as bad as Subaru with their giant iPad, but it's entirely forgettable unless you're the kind of cuck who has to answer their phone while driving, so you need to actually use bluetooth pairing.
>The hybrid is the only distinguishable one because it gets genuine hybrid mileage, unlike most other hybrid SUV/CUV on the market getting like 5 miles of extra gas mileage.
This is exactly what it says on the tin. Most hybrid SUVs only make around 5 MPH better than normal, the 2019 refresh let it get past 40 MPG, while every other SUV in the market was struggling to get to 35, and the new one right now it's (allegedly) supposed to get to 46, that's Prius territory while other SUVs are still trying to catch up.
>>
I have a 2024 hybrid base model. Wanted the most reliable vehicle I could find that had a bit of ground clearance and good gas mileage. It does provide that.

The power train is decent. Everything else surrounding it is cheap garbage. I’ve had it for 1.5 years and it’s developed more rattles than any car I’ve ever driven. Made in Canada by dips from India I’m sure. It had no rattles when I bought it. The door slam is cringe. The door handles are cringe. The seats are ok. The gear shifter is cringe. Overall just a cringe vehicle i should have saved my money and got a panther.

I do like not paying for much gas tho and not having to worry about breaking down.
>>
>>28893994
>>28894357
Do I just go for a Cross instead and cope with the fact I'm just driving a corolla LARPING as an SUV
>>
>>28894363
No the cross is even worse cuz u lose space and horsepower. I can’t imagine my rav going any slower and it has 220hp

Just don’t get anything post 2020 pretty much. Except 2024 and earlier 4Runner and maybe hylander or sienna. The rav drives like trash too the suspension sucks and it’s too light to feel solid on the highway.

Blame fractional reserve banking that’s what’s ultimately ruined everything. It’s impossible to make quality vehicles at decent prices when our dollar has devalued 95% since 2000 with wages stagnant. “Record profits” but record debt across the board.
>>
>>28894368
Fuck man, I hate trying to find some halfway decent car to drive. My 4Runner's been fucked because of corrosion around the engine (fucking snow and salt) and the A/C belt snapped so now I'm afraid that if I fuck with the timing belt to get to it that something will snap off and fuck me.
I just wanted something semi-comfortable for my highway commute, but it all feels like shit cars at retarded prices.
I really just wanted something with ventilated seats, but that's negotiable and only because I'm sick of peeling my ass off the car seat in this shit weather.
I shouldn't be seeing used cars in full on airbagged accidents going for 15-18K. It's retarded.
>>
>>28894372
Yea it’s cringe out there. You might find a cx-5 to be what you want. Try to find one without start/stop and cylinder deactivation. Or get the turbo if you’re ok with turbos. They’re better built than the ravs and more comfortable. Maybe not as reliable though and worse gas mileage. But better priced too.
>>
>>28890017
it's the most stolen car in many countries, being shipped to african countries where they actually need a proper SUV and not a fake egg-box SUV. Probably higher insurance cost as a result of that. You'd have to invest in proper 3th party locks to keep it. Regardless it's the de-facto SUV standard but it's not something you need unless you do offroading or you really want to impress your wifes bf's gf.

>>
>>28894494
no point in generalizations. there are dozens and dozens of toyota models with multiple engine options, so virtually hundreds of combinations. a few are great, a lot are good. most are average and quite a few are terrible. rav 4 is in the last category

mercedes w211 with straight six diesel will outlive anything, but you still wouldnt say w211 is a reliable car

>>28890017
we've owned one for 7 years. Had a transmission TSB the first month we owned it, which the dealer just flashed new software. Other than that never had an issue. Will take you from A to B reliably for 20 years without a fuss. Maintenance is cheap and simple on the gas one that we have, the oil filter is in a slightly cramped space. It gets like 30 mpg or something.

It's boring, kind of expensive now I think (we paid like $30k out the door for a new XLE in 2019), but toyota sells millions of these things and they're reliable low-maintenance transportation which is exactly what I wanted to get for my wife.
>>
Help me out guys. I don't know much about cars.

RAV4 with 80k miles is like 25k euro here minimum.

I dunno what people expect really, Toyota is known for the cheap interiors and boring driving style precisely because they sink the budget into the R&D for drivetrain research, this is why they continue having their reliable as fuck reputation. Contrast that with Hyundai and Kia which serve you an interior full of screens and electronic wizzardry only to have the engine explode on you.

Call me a shill all you want, but Toyota were the ones who pioneered hybrid cars to begin with and everyone laughed at them and the Prius when it first came out with everyone mocking it as the car for girls and fags, only to fail to realize they made the indestructible tank that would go on to become the millennial 90s toyota corolla.

>>28894378
Mazda being a smaller company that makes .... Interesting choices, did pretty much right by being boring for once and sticking to their one engine platform and good old automatic transmissions, and those things devalued they were able to sink more money on the interior, the drawback is that all their cars look the same (there's literally dozens if not hundreds of youtube videos trying to tell the differences between a CX3/CX30 and a CX5/CX50) and the problem now is that Mazda has fallen to the fad. Their new models come with an iPad now. Subaru seems that have learned their lesson since they got rid of the giant iPad, but instead they fucked up their outbacks by making them look even more like an SUV.
>>
