What do you think about the 911 996? It worth it?
>>
nah. the non turbo or gt3 models grenade their own engines, the interior is abysmal, and they don't have the performance of things in the same price bracket. they were worth it pre-covid when you could scoop up a turbo for like 40k

Porsches never made any sense unless you really, genuinely don't care about money. Not a troll post, just really, and interiors do look like shit if they are even slightly older.
>>
only if you LS swap it then it's sick

As an owner of a troublefree example I'll tell you straight up. No.
If you're even asking here then you're definitely not ready for what might be waiting for you.
I like mine as a runabout shitbox but when people ask, I always tell them "no" and "hell no" because if they're looking for advice, that means they're worried. If they're worried then they cant afford the potential disaster happening to them. So yeah just go buy a C5 or something cheap and common.
All car prices got fucked hard during covid and porsche scarcity means nothing is inexpensive anymore.

I'm pretty sure that generation is universally hated solely because of the headlights.
>>
A guy at work has both a 996 turbo and 996 gt3. He likes it and says my 992 is too big.

Just get a 350z these things are rentals

Only the runny egg one looks gross. OP's looks great.

nissans are literally rental cars unlike porsches you weird little incel
>>

It’s a headlight, who cares.
What you should care about is that early cars 98/99 had a dual row IMS bearing that was much less likely to fail. But yeah keep bitching about the headlights.

I think I'ts beautiful.

I'm okay with them. Seem like a good value proposition if you want a 911. I don't even hate the headlights.

I'm sure its good to drive or whatever but it just does nothing for me. Just a plain jane 'I am a RRL oxford collar button down chino wearing dentist yuppie who plays golf on the weekends I and lives in a hamptons style house' kinda car It has no edge to it. I do like the GT2 bc its kind of extreme looking.

glad I'm not the only one who thinks porsche interiors have been shit for a good chunk of the 21st century

I've considered the newer 718 but the asking price for a 300hp car is just too much and its not like its exquisitely light and it comes with mickey d struts so idk how that money is supposed to be justified. for the same money I can get a brand new rs3 or older giulia quad and yes i know they are not same class of cars but all I care about is horsepower and not being more than 1600kg
>>
>any porsche after the 993
lol

No argument on 996 as it was a different era entirely but 997 and 991 are great looking interiors and have aged well. Hell Porsche even has updated new head units for the 997 to bring them up to modern standards while still looking period appropriate (knobs and buttons). So yeah, looks are subjective but valid criticism of 996/986 but hardly "a good chunk of the 21st century"

this is one of those retarded memes people parrot 20 years after the fact without understanding the origins

the ugly headlights are from the 996.1 thin body cars. They were early and stupid looking. They were fixed by the update and widebody cars

literally no one thought the 996 turbo, C4S, etc was ugly whenthey were new cars
>>
>>28890960
If there was anyone who liked it, they would have kept it on at least one of their cars.
>>
>>28890733
personally i've grown to like the early "runny egg" lights, on the boxster too. they're just so 90s looking, it's kinda charming
>>
>>28890960
^true.
the biggest "problem" with the headlights back in the day was that they were shared with the boxster (as was the entire front half of the car) but porsche was about to go broke if they hadn't gone with extreme parts sharing like this.

Mine has the late 99 headlights without the massive orange section so they never really bothered me.
>>
>>28890253
They were worth it back when you could scoop a good one for 25k to 30k euros. Now it's over.
>>
>>28890253
Maybe if you're really into butterfaces
