Moving to Portland soon. What's the car scene like in the pacific nw?
>>28891360It's awesome. Everything is rust free. Mild winters, so I use summer tires year round. Craigslist/facebook here has good deals/inventory compared to the rest of the country. Also you don't need a dealer license to buy from copart. Lots of racing and sideshows if you're into that.
>>28891365wow, poland seems great. hard to believe millions used to just outright be forced to starve in the very same country!
Profoundly dumb drivers the closer you are to Portland and Seattle but as soon as you're 40 miles out it's some very solid driving all around. Drove to Newport, Lincoln City, Seaside, and Astoria and it's so nice out around there but even central Oregon around Sisters and Bend is beautiful in its own way too.
It's all Subaru
>>28891408>central Oregon around Sisters and Bend is beautifulhyb
>>28891408>>28891468fuck off we're fullReally though, yeah it's gorgeous out here and the whole state, at least the western half (I haven't been out east much) is absolutely riddled with awesome driving/riding roads. I'm not sure about the scene though, there isn't that much of one here in Central OR and I haven't spent enough time around PDX to find out.
>>28891408>Profoundly dumb driversThey're so used to driving in shitty weather that they worry me in normal conditions. Maybe they think they're good drivers. I don't go there much now, but I just know that even my grandpa was a little too bold.
>>28891360>What's the car scene like in the pacific nw?PNW is pretty good overall.Lotta Porsche and Miata guys.Cars are almost as rust free as Cali.Less paint damage cuz no Cali sun 24/7.Fairly rich population means lots of cooler cars.Few good race tracks as well.
>>28891585My stereotype of PNW car scene is rich nerds (Intel, Microdick, Amazon, Valve, etc.) in their PorschesIt's a forest paradise up there, kinda jelly. We have moutain roads in California too, but the sheer amount and concentration of random beautiful backroads in OR and WA is hard to compare
what I remember from driving in pdx is that people drove FAST in the rain and it scared the shit out of me
I've used a shuttle instead of a rent when visited Portland and Astoria, so I barely know anything about there, but I saw a following video randomly a month ago.https://youtu.be/32_qQ3gUdbw
>>28891360>Moving to Portland soonfor fuck's sake why>What's the car scene like in the pacific nwPortland's shit, dying out as wealth flees the area thanks to the government's pathological addiction to creating new taxes and fees and trying their damnest to drive business out. roads in Portland proper are fucked, if you have a nice car with nice wheels, it's not a good place to be. as soon as you cross county lines, the roads magically improve. speed limits are absurdly low and getting lower for no reason. government at the state and local level is trying to find a way to shut down the track, PIR, and I expect they'll succeed soon Seattle area is okay, they have a couple of great tracks, but lots of people are starting to fuck off to Idaho, Utah, and Nevada because Washington has decided to start ramping up the taxationanyway we do have a lot of nice roads, but a lot of absolute bottom of the barrel drivers and sometimes no decent passing zones so you have to go at odd hours or hope you get lucky...but if you get lucky and get a nice run on a road like Bible Creek, it's fucking amazing. I think it's best to have a car like a WRX or GR Corolla, not because of the weather, but because there's a lot of great dirt to play in when you start fucking about in the forests>>28891408it's sort of impressive how dumb portland drivers are. absolute fucking zombies. central oregon is nice but got too popular for its infrastructure to handle so roads are often packed full of cunts until you start going out east a bit, towards fossil and john day. they have a really fun track, ORP, which doesn't really have a straight, and has some great elevation changes and banked curves. ideal track for miatas>>28891616have never seen that in 25 years here. unless by fast you mean 10 under the limit
>>28891753>wealth flees>million dollar houses still selling after being on the market for 15 seconds
>>28891360too many god damn fucking mexicans.(and by mexicans, i mean squats who speak spanish, and spanish only.)
>>28891975>he thinks people aren't leaving pdx for the couve in droveskek ok mitch
>>28891753>have never seen that in 25 years here. unless by fast you mean 10 under the limitIt's weird here in Central Oregon. People go slow as hell on 97 and roads in the middle of town, but the second you get on the faster 45-55mph roads around the edges they drive like absolute psychopaths. A lot of people here are also habitual tailgaters regardless of situation or speed, they just seem to think one car length is an appropriate following distance at 80mph.
