Are there any historic servers for AC?
I would like to do some casual racan for stuff like AC legends or really anything before the 2000s. I've been doing some offline historic with AMS2 but all my friends are homosexual and want to drive sequential LMP/GT cars. They're happy to meet in the middle with some AC but finding a historic server seems hard.

I usually play using some career app like Race Pace or Racing Life. I'm currently using Race Pace doing IMSA GT4 championship with a BMW M4. Use Racing Life for the type of progression where you buy cars. There's a few other career apps but I haven't tried those ones.

Otherwise some of the lesser known classes are pretty fun. Huezilian stock cars and Ginetta G40 for example are fun.

i mean, it makes sense from a 'tism standpoint, its not like the cars are owned by the festival, you buy them yourself. the real "problem" is just the wheelspins constantly giving you free progression skips. without wheelspins, if a player earns their way up to a high-tier car or wins it from an event, they should be allowed to drive it whenever they want. you could fix the wheelspin problem pretty easily by just having a fixed prize-pool for major events like GT3/7 and a generic prize-pool that changes depending on your level, and not give the player 5 special edition hypercars just for buying the vip pass for a couple bucks

right and it's usually pretty easy to make sure everything is in the right place if you have either the actual car or some data on it. ac uses meters as a unit just like most publications.

the T180 system uses normal AC physics and a normal AC tire model, CSP COSMIC suspension physics and an accurately simulated gas turbine drivetrain. the wheels work like a thrust vectoring system to point the body of the car, and thus the rocket on the back, in the correct direction so the car doesn't fly off the track. all this works in ac using normal physical principles.

i'm saying you can't just add dimensionless forces to ac except for that one which is reserved specifically for silly purposes like making cars jump or arcade nitro boosts. even wacky cars like the T180s actually operate on feasible principles because that's just how the game works. if it wasn't feasible it wouldn't work. you cannot force the game to accept incorrect part orientations and geometry.

this challenger for example i rebuilt to have proper B/E-body rear suspension which, unsurprisingly, works perfectly. like the real car it doesn't need a panhard rod unlike a typical AC 3-link LRA due to the self-centering effect of the 4 trailing arms with the top two being angled at 45 degrees inward. if AC wasnt realistic this wouldn't have worked.

Obviously GT4 doesn't hold up to any modern sims but I still found it plenty entertaining with my T300, you should give it a try. I'd recommend playing with the Spec II mod
The only real complaint I have is the crazy FFB wobble you get at high speeds

It is fine but pcsx2 has a lot of inherent latency, to the point I thought I didn't like GT4 until I tried it on hardware. Ofc if you don't already have a ps2 it probably isn't worth the effort.

as with every completive game ever. abusing the physics isnt exactly cheating because its part of the game but actual cheating is rampant in online gaming these days and im suprised its not talked about more in sim racing. in shooters they are using 2 computers and special cards to hide the cheats. im sure they also have stuff for the racing games like extra grip ect

I have to say it does feel like that sometimes. If I had a sim setup before driving IRL I'd be terrified the first time I drove a real car and feel cheated because it's actually piss easy.

not really and most racing games are heavily client sided as well, there's nothing really checking the setup files or metrics like tire temp, traction, wear, etc. the only way you can know someone is cheating in an online racing game is if they are running wildly different times from other players in the same car. people at the top of the grid are generally running times extremely close, pitting at the same time, etc, so it's a bit of a challenge cheating just enough to win but not enough to be suspicious.
