GM is about to get dunked on at the ring.

>May have
Yawn
>>
Hate this fat bitch.
https://youtu.be/oFL5k6Pl2qQ
>>
Get back to me when they rebody it with a 65-70 fastback shell. otherwise its fucking ugly and gay.
>>
>>28892642
There are people timing it. even if it didn't do exactly 6:41, it is definitely well under 6:50.
>>
Who gives a fuck unless you want to buy a car and drive it around the nurburgring faster than anyone else
>>
call me when they put a real ZF8HP in the GT or Dark Horse model.
>>
>>28892719
Really this only matters to europeans. they were close to collectively necking themselves when the last gen viper was doing nuruburgring attempts. everyone was anticipating a production lap car record. they were already coping and comparing it to race cars and everything.

this only matters to troll europeans at the end of the day.
>>
>>28892733
Only the German carmakers, and it's only Porsche that really cares. It's good for marketing but everyone openly cheats anyways.

oh no!!!
anyways
>>

Needing a $400k race car to beat a $250k golf club hauler is no "dunk". Not to mention the GTD is slow as fuck in the 1/4 mile.
>>
I wonder if it had all the new surveillance equipment that monitors the driver
>>
>>28892632
>ford reinvented the 991 except it has none of the qualities and needs brute power instead of balance
Alternatively,
>Chevrolet: Oops we used an actual practiced race driver this time, sorry Ford!
>>

>GTD
diesel mustang?
>>
>>28892814
If you watch videos of people reviewing the GTD, the balance is there, and is comparable to the GT3 RS. It doesn't feel like a muscle car at all. even the power steering rack that it has feels great and not numb. there is a reason it cost 300k. a regular GT500 might be brute force, but the GTD is more like a super car that resembles a mustang with lots of attention to detail in how it handles.

Wow amazing
>>
>>28892859
assuming you're not new, lap time hype from spectators timing the cars has been a thing on /o/ for a long time. it happened with the GT2 RS, the Viper ACR, the Corvette, the GTR, etc etc. every time there was a car lapping the ring that everyone was anticipating, a spectator would be there timing it and trying to tease us with what is likely going to be the ballpark for the official lap time.

you aren't a newfag, right anon. you WERE here during the peak of GTR vs Corvette shitposting, right?

I dont even think youre allowed to post that image anymore
>>
>porsche hp counts twice
crazy how this holds true after all those years.
why do all other car manufacturers need twice the hp to compete with the 911?
>>
perfect thread for me
I have a 40k eur budget for a used car, I live in the Balkans

I have a hard on for sport cars - think Mustang Shelby

by pure accident, I laid eyes on a BMW i8, and I creamed my pants. I never saw a thing more prettier than that, but I gave up as I figured that car HAS to cost like 300k. So I go online, and holy fuck, a 2017 i8 can be had for ~40k. What the fuck anons? Why does the best looking super car on the planet (and not too old) cost that low? Where's the catch? And no, I don't have a problem with 350 HP, that's pretty fast for me.
>>
>>28893055
if you can’t afford it new you can’t afford it used.
best remember that

>>
>>28893077
what is it that I can't afford here?
Assuming the entire engine doesn't blow up when I buy it, what costs am I looking at here? I can afford regular services/tires just fine
>>
>>28893090
the engine will blow up. it’s a nearly 10 years old BMW.
>>
>>28893109
alright, so whats the absolute peak of a sporty looking car for ~40k relatively new (2020+)?

I've seen a ton of Mercedes, BMW, Audis, Mustangs, they all look great but I can't decide
>>
>>28893115
it will be in the shop ever other week. and it will cost 4 figures every single time
>>
>>28893079
Electric mogs nothing. Very gay.
>>
>chink EV
you’d have to pay me bigly before I even consider risking my life in one of those ticking time bombs
>>
>>28892733
You can't possibly be this stupid.
>mutt
Oh wait, yeah you can.
>>
>>28892632
ford (and gm) are such pathetic fags. ooooh a shitstain on the ring what is this 1997? oh im totally gonna go buy a clumsy faggot mustang to time attack hurr durrr
>>
>>28893165
hi newfag who wasn't here when the viper lapped.
>>
what exactly is the point of this except as an arms race? Most people that buy this car will never get it over 100mph. It'll be an auction regular like the Ford nuGT was for years. Piss.
>>
>>28892850
>if you watch videos of people selling a 300k car
No thanks I have class and taste.
>>
>>28892632
Now post both with a professional driver
>>
>>28895373
I don't think GM will ever uses a professional driver. their cars would be so much faster if they did, but they just won't invest the money.

Another reason why the Mustang GTD is so fast around the ring is because Ford actually competes in the Nurburgring 24 hour races, which they collect the data giving them the equivalent of hundreds of practice laps. something GM also doesn't have. all of GM's practice laps come from them testing on the ring during tourist hours. Ford can use the data from their races.

Porsche, AMG, and Ford all learned from Nissan in that you need a racing team at the ring if you want the best lap times. those racing laps offer so much data and Ford is using that for these massive gains that GM won't be able to get outside of making a more hardcore version of their already hardcore corvette.
>>
>>28893276
would be pretty funny to see a marque make an ad showing their car racing round the ring but showing off how comfy it is.
>"...it may not be the fastest..."
>"...but does it really matter?"
>"we're always being told it it's about the journey...so what better way to enjoy the journey..."
>*cut to exterior camera shot showing the car leaning heavily as it flies round a corner*
>*cut back into cabin, passengers and driver all look like they're on a comfy sunday drive*
>"...than in a living room, on wheels?"
>*fade to black*
