I've always been amazed at how shitty engines are in Europe. And they basically call cars the wrong size. The car magazines in the UK call what we would call compact crossovers here, midsize, and subcompact, small or compact.

I have a 2.5L 4banger NA engine and I have to floor it to pass so I can only imagine what a 1 liter 3 banger is like.

I saw a Nissan dealer ad the other day and it was like "your job is your credit!" so I don't think Nissans are selling to reputable people anyways. They are just ultra-budget shitboxes.

That's a Nissan isn't it?

>The car magazines in the UK call what we would call compact crossovers here, midsize, and subcompact, small or compact.
We used the same sizing in the good ol' days, it's just that US magazines decided the size categories would get bigger if car models got bigger instead of classifying them as a bigger size for some reason. If you look for a rental, they're still using the old sizes.

>That's a Nissan isn't it?
wtf no, it's a Renault. the specs are not of pic related, it's a general jab at these Renault, Volkswagen, Dacia, Pegout, etc. ugly and overpriced crossovers and mini suv with the performance of a sub 1000 euro used car.

>I've always been amazed at how shitty engines are in Europe. And they basically call cars the wrong size.
European roads are more twisty and narrower, and gas is higher quality. The European engines hence prioritize balance (often in flat 6 and inline 6 instead of like 6 liter v8) and weight (smaller and aluminum blocks instead of iron), as they can run higher compression ratios anyway. I'd pick a Corvette over a 911 if I lived in the US and vice versa.
I only criticized a one segment of the contemporary offerings in Europe, aimed at middle class beta male wagecucks that get enticed by the monthy rates and included warranties. I think Americans didn't get the post.
>>
>>28892678
>>28892685
There's no alternate choices on the EU market really. What would you buy for that price in Europe? You can pick a 1.0 liter European car, a 1.0 liter Korean car or a 1.0 liter japanese car (for 10k more). There's no saloons or sedans for that price. I don't think Americans realize how dirt fucking poor the average euro is. The upper class in a western European country enjoys standards of living comparable to lower-midle class in a poor American state. Fuel is very expensive. There are a lot of taxes associated with car ownership. Emission standards are very strict. Speed limits are enforced zealously.
>>28892755
What would you buy new for 30k EUR? I can only think of the Mazda 3 and at this price it wil be a low displacement hybrid.
>>
>>28892755
>Gas is higher quality

No it isn't. In fact, historically, it's been lower quality and lower octane. Back when the two monsters ran at LeMans, the highest octane gas available was 85. They needed over 100 to run right.
>>
>>28892761
>What would you buy new for 30k EUR? I can only think of the Mazda 3 and at this price it wil be a low displacement hybrid.
i would not buy new. buying 30k cars new is aimed at useless beta suckers. right now, i am in process of buying an Alfa 166, either 2.5 liter Busso V6 with 190 hp for 4k or the 3 liter version with 225 hp and more torque, in pristine condition, for 9k. I change the steering wheel, radio, gear lever and the leather beneath it, i.e. the parts I will touch most, polish it on the outside, and it's basically new feeling. Old Audi V8's are also on my radar.
>>
>>28892768
And to circlejerk off my own post, the reason you have smaller engines is because gas is more expensive in Europe. As early as the 1920s it'd been known that a large displacement engine that made relatively low horsepower would return good performance when out of tune, while a low displacement engine would need to be more carefully maintained to ensure that it provided acceptable performance. Because gas was and is cheap in America, Americans tended to prefer larger, lazier engines, and Europeans had to make due with what they had.
>>
>>28892772
Many European countries also have their car taxes determined by displacement.
Some have been switching to power or fuel consumption in recent years, but generally bigger engines make cars expensive to buy and run, while turbocharged small engines make them cheaper.
>>
>>28892768
the e36 m3 had to use iron blocks instead of aluminum for the us versions lol

Lmao this absolute clap delusion rubbed off on you? Basically all of northwestern europe has higher average wealth than the US. Americans literally get mercilessly raped non stop but they're too sheltered to know it.

From European point of view, it is Americans that are oversized...

Noooo, just look how Norwegian houses have fewer AC units than Texan houses!
They're all dirt poor!

>Americans literally get mercilessly raped non stop but they're too sheltered to know it.
The actual raping is happening with Europeans who invited millions of inbred Muslims into their homes. Apparently all of the strong men died in wars long ago or were adventurous and moved long ago. I'm part Norwegian and Danish myself. Just not from this leftover stock of people who seemingly can't even protect their own daughters and sisters. Or even get mad about it. They just fall into delusional escapism on boards like this and talk shit to Americans as if we're their real enemy.
Americans has enough to not only have time for ourselves, but we provide a lot of help for the rest of the world too. Including Europe. We resurrected it out of war torn rubble, and helped all of their industries get back on their feet.
Since we're on a car board, none of that shit would even exist if not for Americans. We could've easily thrown all of Germany into the garbage, but we helped them rebuild the Volkswagens and BMWs and Mercedes and everything else outside of cars. What did Russians do? Mass raped all of their women. That's the usual response in history.

The 'fun car' concept is dead in europistan and it's been for at least 2 decades.
Large (or even mid size) engine cars are so ridiculously expensive that there's no point to offer regular car with sporty engine as it won't be affordable anymore.

Delusion. There's a reason why German car companies want to sell all their shit over here. The people who have money have lots of it. I made 400k last year and my tax rate was 15%. German tax rates are 42% starting at 60k. Who's actually getting raped?

Renault shot itself on the foot removing their
good 1.5 dCi from new sales, they could
have paired it with a hybrid system and
mount it on their SUVs, but no, le French
preferred be le fag with these struggling
underperforming motors for wagie buyers.

>But bro, it's GPL, saving tons of money

Sure bro, sure, whatever floats your boat.

And part Nigerian, Columbian, Korean and Serbian. We know, mutt.
>>
>>28892896
No, they used an entirely different engine altogether. Brakes too. That had more to do with emissions and maintenance concerns than fuel.

The nikasil blocks, however, did have to be recalled. However, that wasn't a quality issue with fuel so much as a difference in standards.

renault and nissan are not different there are no cars made by renault that don't use nissan derived platforms

Euro anons are always shitposting against SUVs and cuckovers, yet these tiny crapboxes with anemic engines are always what's actually topping the sales charts in their countries lmao

Dacia is supposed to be the cheapest shittiest four wheeled thing that can be legally classified as a vehicle, if anything their specs and tech are too high nowadays for what they're supposed to be.

People are responsible for their own behavior. They're not children.
They happily invited them en masse themselves. And either stigmatized or turned a blind eye to the few who warned them. And to this day still don't do much to rectify it. Even on 4chan, with all of the information available to them, there are still Eurofags who get their kicks off just turning their attention on Americans as their supposed rent free nemesis. They either don't like addressing any actual problems in their midst or they're complicit in them and actually complicit. But they're not being controlled. They made and keep making choices to be smug cunts all while they're civilization falls apart.
>>

The hell is this? Looks like a rebadged dacia for south americans.

it's true. also here in europe you don't see any mid 20s educated middle class white couples large families like it's common or at least in absolute sense numerous in the us. you cannot afford this in europe, even with a good job.
