I didn’t realize all that, but I do appreciate you pointing all that out. Honestly, I like the aesthetics of an older bike like that, I don’t want something super fast. Just to basically ride around my farm, and dirt roads. Maybe into town to grab a few groceries here and there.
I used to have a 2001 YZ 250. Loved that thing and the power, but not the maintenance on them. Ideally a lightweight bike that’s got a good mix of power and reliability that’s also street legal would be pretty cool. But I do like the idea of more or less putting around and slowing down I guess. Idk.
As for a budget, I’m not looking to spend a crap ton of money. A couple grand preferably. Maybe 3.
>>
do you guys practice falling off the bike?
i guess this isn't relevant for street riding but i dropped my bike twice yesterday in the woods. i didn't get hurt but i wonder if it's worthwhile doing some sort of drills or something. like how in wrestling you learn how to fall.

Nah I just want to ride, most people are only interested in the bike you're riding or their own.
>>
>>28894349
the XT250s and TTs are basically unchanged from the 80s btw, only thing thats changed is wiring harnesses, a rear disc, and swapping to injection in the early 2010s
so theyre still a very slow and old design but theyre dead simple and reliable if its what your looking for
just maybe try to find something newer if it still interests you, the XT250 will have all the street running gear by default including a neutral light and a proper harness for everything. late 90s or newer is better cos they started going digital
>>
>>28894359
if that was true nobody would care about gear or how it looks, and the entire market around well designed good looking gear and motorcycle clothing wouldn't exist

I would concede that I may be an outlier, wearing my high-vis at the drags lol.
I just care if it fits and vaguely colour-matches, function before form.

That said, vanity sure is a detriment for the most part when it comes to bike gear. Black this, black that, rainsuits fucking black because the most visible motorist is an all-black motorcycle in the rain.

On another note, the Vstrom has a connector like this i think for the indicators, how the heck do you get the old connector off. I think it has a trick to it but i dont even know what to search for

The metallic ends are bullet. They simply pull off.
The connector ends are like push down on the lever arm or pull up on the male lever arm. In the case of my TL1000s, they are pull up on the lever arm.

It's a screenshot from youtube video where a swede guy travels alone somewhere in caribbean region. He has no backpack. In fact nobody travels with a backpack, it's one of the worst thing you can do on a trip.

I can go though a lot of solo travelers on youtube and each of them will look like this. Why?

The Bearded Mechanic has bought one for himself.

In other words: when you have unlimited YouTube money and huge expirience in bikes - you buy Yamaha
>>

I mean all top cases are design to hang behind the bike which is ridiculous and only suits riding with a passenger. That's a problem number one. Another problem is motorcycle owners who keep eating this shit and keep packing like retards.

Sport bike: Closest thing to experiencing flying but on the ground, high skill ceiling, most maneuverable, can get intense
Cruiser bike: Magic carpet ride, essentially feels like you're floating or gliding above the pavement (A road glide one might say) not as high of a skill ceiling but much more skill in leaning in corners because the window of error is much more narrow due to lower ride height and wide floor boards. Much more chill of an experience, more comfortable than most sports bikes even for hard tail choppers

Key to being comfortable on a sport bike is picking one that physically fits your dimensions the best. We wouldn't put harambe on a tiny jigsaw sized trike and we wouldn't take petite shortstack number 5 trying to tame a tall as hell liter bike so make sure to pick one that fits like a glove.

>I don't implore you to ride one, but how big was the jump from a KX to the CRF?
Idk if you’re still here anon, but really I couldn’t turn around for the difference. My 250’s were 2 strokes, and the 450 was a 4 stroke.
With 2 strokes, they complete a cycle (sucking in fuel and air, burning, and exhaust) in 2 strokes of the piston. A 4 stroke, takes double that. Long story short that basically equates to a 450 outputting roughly the same amount of power as the 250.
The key difference really was the 450 had a smoother power band, which was pretty nice I guess. The 250 was more of a beast. I mean you barely twist the throttle, and it feels like it’s gonna rip your arms off- definitely don’t underestimate em.
If I ever got another one, I’d get the 250 again. Less maintenance, lower cost. As a general rule of thumb, you can bet on a 450 to be 2x the cost of the 250s.
Like my 450 had a timing chain, and oil filter. The 250 didn’t. Just add the oil and go. Plus that 2stroke smell.. man I miss it. I wish so bad it weren’t retarded to want one that was street legal. I loved the power and the response, but I could never fully open it up because it is a race bike.

I watched this. it was fucking disgusting. gay people dont belong on this planet.

it had very little to do with motorcycles other than the main guy rode a bmw s1000rr, which i thought was fitting. he was part of some gay bikers group, but they all had harleys, also fitting, he was the only sports bike rider in the gay club. It ends with his sub, who he bossed around all movie ended up kissing him, which i guess isnt allowed in a BDSM relationship? which made the biker dude pack all his stuff and move away. Three bikes. Deciding on a sport tourer for all-year all-weather riding. I'll probably clock 30k miles in it's lifetime. Coming from a CBR650, sick of this short range buzzy, vibey bike and it's not cut out for continent crossing.
I rode a r1250rs, very logical bike but it didn't stir any excitement in me. I've never tried a ninja. I've owned air cooled Ducati's before and loved them in short bursts but always thought their rattling would drive me insane after a week on the road, though I'd hope the liquid cooled motors would be more tame..?
I've test ridden all I can now. What do I do lord?
