CHEVYS ARE JUNK AHAHAHA CHEVYS COMPLETE UTTER JUNK AHAHAHAHAHA.
>>28896165Somebody's going to pull that engine, put a china turbo on it and make 700hp.
>>28896206Chinese don't make a turbo good for 700. Well, not reliabily kek.
>>28896238Nothing is reliable in the world of racing and speed.
fixotrgaindony
Today i will makes a pointless thread jabbing chevroleteYes that is what i will do today
>>28896165Congratulations, you found a picture of a vehicle in a junkyard full of vehicles.
>>28896165That one looks like it's still in decent shape. The body and frame are solid compared to how these look around my parts. Probably a 1500 that the tranny went out on and the owner scrapped it because it wasn't worth anything. The 2500s are still desirable and I see a lot of those on the road. They have better transmissions and frames than the 1500s.
>>28896165What utter orangutan tries to tow with a rope wrapped around the fucking bumper plastic?
>>28896974Why do both seem to buckle in banana shape?
>>28896996Frame rust, the trucks are scrap metal and parts, not drivable.
>>28896996From my experience, it's the typical fate of farm trucks. They get abused hard, get maintenance only when absolutely required, and rarely ever get washed. So they just rust apart. the hammock shape is from the frame rusting out and buckling.
>>28897022You can't see the frames in those pics, but my first guess is that the bed mounts are wrecked.
>>28897063sadness
>>28896238me and a buddy made 1500hp on a junkyard lq engine with a chinese turbo.but the engine blew up... not the chinese turbo, but the water injection hoses i made came apart and the rings seized up badly trashing the whole thing. im not taking blame for it, he should have told me he had a mix of metric and imperial hoses, they dont mix well together...
>>28896165CHEVYS ARE ROCK HARD BUILT LIKE A ROCK FORDS ARE ON ROAD DEAD
>>28896996Design flaw in the GMT800 half ton frames. They rust and then the frames buckle. The boxed frame traps moisture and rots from the inside out then buckles pushing the bed into the cab.
>>28897065They have bad frames
all trucks are good if you know how to weld
>>28896165>Old Chevy (specifically pre-AFM/DFM)Amazing, built the best trucks on the road. Did have issues with rust but who didn't at that time? >Modern ChevyVery possibly the worst V8 of any of the large auto manufacturers. Their current 6.2L is such a bad design the NHTSA is forcing dealers to test engines for harmonic issues. Engines are catastrophically failing with only 20-30k miles on them routinely, its not an isolated issue. Poor manufacturing paired with bad engineering is the cause and its not fixable, they're completely giving up on the L87 platform and switching to a new design. Realistically Chevy needs to give up on AFM already and switch to turbos like Ford did back in 2011. Everyone else is just playing catch up at this point.
I mean yes but Fords are genuinely worse and in comparison Chevy is less bad, especially ones made in the last few years.
>>28900133>Chevy is less bad, especially ones made in the last few years.see >>28900127 Less bad? The L87 platform is a nightmare dude. Its worse than anything RAM or Ford has put out since like the 6.0 Powerstroke. Its that bad. Ford's Ecoboosts have been overall pretty reliable, mostly because the platform has been around for 15 years now at this point. They're not perfect obviously but turbos are just more reliable than any shitty mechanical cylinder deactivation garbage. Hence why RAM and Toyota have both moved to 6 cylinder turbocharged engines.
>>28897206Damn, that with >>28897205 and I've learned something today. I thought the GMT800 platform was considered pretty good. I have a 1986 Chevy that spent most of its life in the mid-Atlantic and the frame isn't nearly that bad.
That's why i only buy pre-2002 dodge trucks
>>28900152Rust prevention got progressively worse after the GMT400. The GMT800 is an amazing platform just avoid poorly maintained 1500's in the rust belt. The 1500 Tahoes and Suburbans don't break their frames as much because they have one body mounted onto them vs essentially two bodies like a pickup.
>>28900137Oh I agree the 6.2 engine is to be avoided but apart from that they have way nicer interiors than Ford does.Does Chevy even make a turbo 6 or am I ???
>>28900286Oh I agree I like the newer Chevy interiors. Chevy offers a turbo 4 in their trucks, which apparently in their most reliable motor for the half ton segment. Surprise surprise the HD trucks are very reliable as well. Chevy just needs to get away from cylinder deactivation already.
>>28900333nobody wants a 4banger truggnobody wants a 4banger in generaloutlaw engines smaller than 5 cylindersI was in an Uber Escalade recently and maybe it was the base model but it was pretty shitty inside and the screens were smaller than I thought they would be and it was comically hard to get in and out of. The nicer interiors are on their non-truggs I guess. I think Cadillac has a turbo-6 but they don't mainstream it, its only on the cts4/5 that are soon to be discontinued.
>>28900152The 2500s last. I see a lot of those on the road. Also the 1500 SUVs that I assume are all unibodies by now
