>rear ended by a dumbass 19 year old mutt >nearly kills me, totals my car completely >highway cops were my witness at least >insurance: here's $2k for your car, bro Gdi, I know it's a 20 year old car, but it was still the only thing getting me around. It was in good condition too, you wouldn't guess it to be old. Got it new at 16 grand back in the day.Anything more I can do at this point?
>>28897693>here's $2kDamn can't you like fight that shit? Youd be lucky to get a clean roller for 2k let alone something that runs and drives.
>>28897693>Anything more I can do at this point? No. This exact same thing has happened to me twice.Got $900 for a car rear-ended by a chick on her phone that would've sold for 12-15, that I had spent an immense amount of time and money on, I had probably spent 15-20k restoring that car. Then my next car got rear-ended by an uninsured 18 y.o., got a couple grand settlement in court, but not up to the value of the car. There is nothing you can do, it's really fucked.
>>28897700You have a right to contest the valuation. Read your insurance policies. Hell, go after his insurance company. You can contest the value and usually they have to hire appraisers to do an appraisal.
>>28897713>You have a right to contest the valuation. Read your insurance policies. Hell, go after his insurance company. You can contest the value and usually they have to hire appraisers to do an appraisal.Oh yeah, theoretically. But it'll cost you time and money with the chance that you'll get screwed over even harder while they jack up your rates forever for fighting them.
>>28897693>Anything more I can do at this point?Get a sleezy lawyer and sue him.Insurance usually takes over caves on cases under $10,000.You can probably get $5-$7K out of it Having a $9,000 budget is way better than a $2,000 one.I hate to pull a turbo JEW, but everyone else is fucking doing it.If you play by the rules, you'll loose every time
>>28897693>nearly kills meYou sue them for nearly killing you, you'll get their entire policy
>>28897693next time install a rear and front dash cam. saved my dad from getting insurance frauded this year. it's honestly one of the greatest mods you can get for a car.
>>28897693I dealt with something similar several years ago. Insurance guy called and offered me $2k. I told him that wasn't enough; cars like mine were advertised for double that on autotrader and craigslist, and I could send him examples. Without missing a beat, the guy offered me $3850, which I accepted. The whole call was done in less than a minute. If you haven't accepted the offer yet, push back. Tell them it's not enough.
Really? Nobody asked?OP. What was your car? Be specfic with year make model and trim.
>>28897726You've never actually done this and it shows.
>>28897773No, I haven't. Does this happen to you a lot?One time I took the insurance offer, the other time I sued the uninsured driver in small claims.
>>28897693Sue the driver for medical.
>>28897758there is no car
>>28897946In my state, you see an attorney the same day. They send you to a chiropractor who racks up tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills and you stop working. Whoever rear ends you is on the hook for a fat check that covers everything, legal fees plus tip. Everyone wins
>>28897694Not OP but in my country the most you can get out of an old car is 10% of its original value past a certain amount of years, legally
>>28897694I argued my car from a repairable write off to a repairable. Just go look at similar cars and what they go for.
>>28897693>Anything more I can do at this point?refuse their offer and get a lawyer.
There are all these techniques internet people say, but it's never like that. The insurance company cites kbb values and says you should have input a specific value you wanted the car to be at and paid higher rates. That was always an option. Lawyers cost money and you've gotta take time off work to do this shit, while also trying to secure a car and get to work without a payout already. It's like how people on the net say you can get out of tickets by going to court - no, you won't and you'll lose a sick day.Unless the car is over 15k, you'll probably lose money fighting it.The only plausible response here is the guy who negotiated immediately when confronted with an offer.
>>28897693You just got jewed!
>>28897693>be yurotard>insurance always pays more than what the shitbox is worth just to get rid of you and to please daddy government >get raped by pakisSuch is life
>>28897694It's not insurance's job to ensure you can get a new car, it's their job to give you the value of your totaled car
>>28897726>while they jack up your rates forever for fighting them.He got rear ended, he should be dealing with that person's insurance company, not his, which would have no effect on his rates.
>>28898438What are data brokers? Why do people not like them? Hmm.
>>28898384Did it accept that or did you have to give the proper name for that image?
>>28898450Its the jews
>>28897693What kind of a shit insurance do you have man? My buddy bought a beater for $900. 6 months later he gets fucking in a no fault accident and insurance pays him out $8,800 for that beater
>>28897693It really depends on the insurance laws for your jurisdiction, but since the other driver was at fault and their insurance company holds the liability there's only one possibility. They need to furnish you with a rental vehicle while the claim is being settled. They have to pay for it until you accept the settlement offer. You can contest the offer - until you accept the payment, it's not done. The cost of the rental will continue to accrue and it will incentivize them to settle fast. The catch it, your car needs to actually have been worth more than $2k in the local market. Meaning, same model with similar mileage and condition. If your shitbox was run down, high mileage, and there is comparable ones on the local market for $2k you're not going to get more.
>>28897693>>28897700This shit is why I will never ever pay for comprehensive insurance. Imagine paying $300 a month for that shit when there's zero guarantee that they won't just throw $500 at you and say "sorry, that's all it's worth."
>>28899013You're not supposed to have comprehensive on cheap shitboxes, moron. And if the other driver is at fault, your policy is irrelevant anyway. It's what their liability coverage is for.You people are profoundly ignorant.
>>28897693this is why I drive uninsired nigga, my car is 40 and 2k is a god damn waste of my time, it would've been cheaper to not pay insurance for the past 10 fuckin years
>>28897693>Anything more I can do at this point?if you have any receipts for maintenance or modifications give it to them, you could get a little bit more, not a whole not more though.
>not having agreed valueYou guys must have shitboxes
>>28897693>rear-ended at a light by some asshole texting and driving>he doesn't have liability insurance>my insurance and dealership bend over backwards to make sure to fix everything>repair car damage for free (minus deductible)>provide free loaner for the entire duration>my premiums don't go up>the incident does not go on the car record since there was no structural damage>they sue the fuck out of the retard in the other car to get him to pay for everything>dealer suggests a chiropractor clinic where he "knows a guy", so I get an extra $3k payout for my troubleIdk, get better insurance, I guess.
>>28897694you can prove it's worth more with photos & receipts. i also argued it's value due to the parts that were on it. most insurance agencies would tell you to kick sand but somehow i got them to cave for a 200k mile forester, got $7k for it. i bought this car for $900 years ago, just detailed the fuck out of it and made it handle well.bought it back $400
>>28899099I don't have a cheap shitbox. But what the fuck am I going to do if the insurance company decides to pay out a pittance? I trust my insurance company to make sure the other guy's insurance pays out a reasonable sum, I don't trust them to pay out what my car is actually worth from their own pockets.
>>28899099>You people are profoundly ignorant. You're also arguing with Euros and Canadians who don't have the same insurance fuckery as the US, and that's before we get into at fault and no fault states.
>>28897693put together solid documentation showing examples of your car selling for more than they offered. include receipts for work done, extra equipment, etc. send it over and tell them the number you want. if they won't budge call your state's insurance examiner office and file a complaint there.
>>28898600it failed.after it just gave the regular shapes one
>>28899804Those captchas were fun and I wish they were in the rotation all the time. Nice boat by the way.
>>28897693i paid 3.5k for a fiero, totaled it, and got 13k
>>28900192Did it have a body kit?
